#1098392 Custom map thread.

Lots of grinding, tech locking against 3 enemies (no nukes while enemy has), very limited build space and almost no money in the first phase of the mission. The player might get a one nuke or two, what might be quite a big blow in such a small build space. Unfortunately AI makes big blobs of navy units that idle most of the time, also please ( :p) stop the AI spamming units like crazy (I've got almost no money and I must grind through sea full of Piranhas, subs and annoying Elites). The first part of the mission can be really frustriating - the difficulty peak is quite strange because the beginning is very hard but once the beacon is captured, it becomes very easy. Also, why do the Allies fight against me too after some time?

As for the bugs, there may be a performance drop because several units will gather and block each other in these spots. Civilian cars spawn offmap and gather in this place all the time, Allied units are in the same cell what prevents them from moving. Also, why does the Epsilon base have offline power :p? I destroyed all of their Power sources and they still are not offline.

There is way too many things happening on the map, making the mission practically a hardly playable experience. Performance drops are huge. The ideas to help the player with mission progress are great (additional optional reinforcements for saving the War Factory), but it's quite overshadowed by poor performance. After establishing a base, my FPS dropped to stable 7. Also some sort of spysat/spy plane would be handy.

Save scumming is bad, it's not fun simply to use S/L most of the time, especially when author decides to use camera jumps + no input when AI engages the player. Don't justify bad design choice, please - AI attacks the player's base just after MCVs deploy, why do I have to wait several seconds to respond? The map layout is outstanding, great mission to do, though lack of control during the fight + random Ghost Miner + Shadow Tank hunting at the end are disadvantages (might not occur, it's random). I tried to translate the readme, what is the difference between capturing the Amplifier and destroying it? The idea of helping Allies + Epsilon turning against each other is cool, makes mission way faster and does not promote grinding through.

Edit: if you destroy the Amplifier, be aware because there will be a global EMP shockwave that destroys all your flying units, until you activate an Allied beacon or destroy that device near White House. Capture it instead, the Epsilon will turn against your enemy.

#1058003 Patch 3.3.2 Proposed Changelog

Also balancing the game around PvE has been always a bad idea.

Sure! But then I would expect people to explain the differences and write arguments, in a civil manner, as in any discussion. That didn't at all happen here.

As I've been dragged here because of being provoked I will write it why it's bad.
First, it would be the best thing to separate MP/SP inis, but it's not going to happen. Balancing around PvE would mean a completely dead playerbase on CnCNet where it's possible to 200 people in the main lobby at the same time.

Second, the impact on SP will be minimal, that 10% buff for Kirov won't be a big thing because most of the times the player will destroy these incoming Kirovs, to be honest, if someone lets 8 Kirovs reach the Congress it's a really bad performance. Also in the same mission there will be tons of buffs including:

+ buff: Catastrophe cannon range increased from 6.5 to 7, minimum range decreased from 2 to 1.5

+ buff: Desolator and Eradicator strength increased by 30 points, range of both weapons increased by 0.5 cells

+ buff: Rhino Heavy Tank has been given its real unique feature, it is repaired twice as fast by all repair weapons

+ buff: effectiveness of AA weapons on Flak Trooper, Flak Cannon and Seawolf against heavier units increased by 20%

+ buff: Volkov super EMP effect duration increased from 25 frames to 45 frames, updated weapon visuals
+ buff: Chitzkoi range increased to 4, strength from 450 to 500, firepower from 45 to 50, ROF decreased from 25 to 20
+ buff: Morales strength increased from 240 to 260, X-Mig strength increased from 450 to 500

+ buff: Catastrophe strength increased from 520 to 550

+ buff: Nuwa Cannon ROT increased from 2 to 3

That's a lot of buffs, I hardly believe that Juggernaut becomes harder (also don't forget about hidden Cyborg Commando). When the Kirov gets a 10% HP buff, basic Flaks get a 20% increase of firepower.

Same person that brings black PR to any mod he is attached too.

And same person that got so many bans on various sites it is not even worth to count.

Surely Allies are enthusiastic to see Soviets back again at Chicago that was nuked by them.

#1050098 MO 3.3 // Campaign, Cooperative & Challenge Discussion

Posted by Martinoz on 07 February 2017 - 09:45 PM

Alright, who ordered the Midas strike in Beautiful Mind? Seems a bit desparate of the Soviets to just nuke the city while they still outnumber the Americans. It is quite sad hearing all those sirens. You can do nothing to save anyone. Buildup to the impact might be a bit too long imo. And that lone driller is quite intriguing. Also it is a bit weird to have structures standing in Firewalking while in Beautiful mind the map is scraped clean by the explosion. Anyways, completed Beautiful Mind on easy. Not too bad, but you can easily get stressed out by the time limit and miscalculations. Expansion helps and the Curtain can be easily bombed by the Aircraft Carriers. The Psicorps Troopers are pretty annoying, but air units can soeve that problem. There is a lot of aa, however.

It was a lose-lose situation for the Allies, the Soviets don't really care of their casualties. When player destroys the Psychic Amplifier, they got angry and decided to nuke the Chicago in revenge. Remember, this move knocked out majority of the US forces and they were no longer able to perform any major operation in the US, forcing them to defend. The Soviets have won since the beginning in Chicago - either they mindcontrolled all of the continent OR nuked majority of the US Army.

#1045232 Mine Mental Omega 3.3 Campaign Videos on Normal/Mental

You don't have any Metal covered... :(

Fuck Mental :<

#1018005 No new release yet after two years?

Posted by Martinoz on 04 November 2015 - 10:27 PM

I used to love Mental Omega, the very first version, because missions are fun and interesting and they had boss battles at the end of Allied or Soviet campaigns. In MO 2.0, things got tougher for the mentally impossible but save files are still possible. But this MO 3.0, very disappointing. If it had been a RA3 or C&C3 mod, that changes everything for the greater good for this series and I wonder why MO 3 wasn't developed  into SAGE in the first place. Also the APYR subtitle name added to Mental Omega, that quite fit in MO 1.0 and 2.0.

Post support: 1 star out of 10 (because nothing is getting released and recent closed beta testing is either limited or not there, just hints and tips for workarounds)

MO 3.0: 1 star out of 10 (because save files are disabled and hardcore missions are more impossible than the average difficulty of a mission in Starcraft; it's better watching the walkthrough videos instead of playing, and worse, maps cannot be extracted or edited. Plus buildable Service Depots and MCVs would have really helped out the missions.)

If I were the main developer I would release something already despite bug/balance/campaign fixes, not to wait for cumulative fixed content and later content such as getting a fourth faction and fourth campaign in. I wish I am a closed beta tester on this mod but no one seems to be trusting for that request. I am sure many people are disappointed by the post support of this because nothing has been released in the last two years. The people who have Windows 8 and 10 are demanding for a fix ASAP for MO 3.0, including compatibility for recent version of CnCNet and Ares. I know you guys have limited free time and limited developers, but something has got to be done... honestly. More and more people will unlikely to play this recent mod because of the lack of post-support help. Besides look at the small team(s) of Renegade-X and Twisted Insurrection, they got several patch releases in the last two years and they fixed more issues than you guys.

I believe this is the second time I had to tell you this.

You are as dumb as your fake polls. GTFO.
"why MO 3 wasn't developed  into SAGE in the first place."

SAGE FOR YURI'S REVENGE
" (because nothing is getting released and recent closed beta testing is either limited or not there, just hints and tips for workarounds)"
Because we don't want to have a retard like you to test it.

" I wish I am a closed beta tester on this mod but no one seems to be trusting for that request"
GUESS WHY - EVERYONE IGNORES YOU AND YOUR DUMB POLLS.

"because save files are disabled"
YOU DIDN'T EVEN TRY WHY IS IT DISABLED, SAME WITH YOUR COMPARING RELEASED MODS TO DEAD MODS. YOU CANT EVEN SEE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDIE GAME AND A MOD. AND YET YOU DARE TO TEACH OTHERS HOW TO FUNCTION.

#997546 Units you wanna see replaced in Beta Revision 2.

Posted by Martinoz on 13 March 2015 - 12:24 PM

Plague Splatter.
Why a catapult? RA is strange when it comes to tech, but this is somewhat over the top. I know SC is poor, but if they can mass produce the Speeder trikes and Hive Tyrants, why should they have to use such an ancient thing? Better replace it with something that make more senses, like a truck with a cannon.
Cryo Commando.
It sucks, really. The old Chrono Commando works better.
