Hehe yeah, I hope so. I really want him to fill the role of King in this faction. :p

 

Work is pretty rough this week though with 10-12 hours a day, so I'm not sure how much energy I will have to model at night, but hopefully I can finish the helmet during the week, so I can go for the weapons soon and finally topologize and UV map it all. Looking forward to seeing this rigged by Val.

Well work at your discretion. I've been busting my balls lately getting my life in order, so my time hasn't been spent mapping nor collecting audio. I'm barely putting in an hour or two a week toward either of those.

He's not finished yet, Thranduil. At any rate, that concept of the helmet isn't a 100% true to the one in the film, so one should be careful if using that as a base. The crest is all wrong, for instance.

yeah i must agree with you Lauri.But if he makes this helmet (i linked it) he wpuld do the Topology for hours.And Dain has a pig insignia on his crest :)

The concept you linked is not the final product on film. This one is.

 

Everything I do, in modeling, is "for hours", and like Lauri said, I'm not done yet. The helmet is the regular soldier helmet. I just put some golden paint on as a test.

Crest is done. Helmet is not.

 

I'll be back with more screens when the helmet is done.

Oh,that concept.Well you made a good helmet,everything you need to do to make it sharp is to Topologize it (hope i helped)

Thanks, that's the one I used as reference (for the crest). For the helmet I use in movie shots =)

i can do some headbut magic for dain if you want. But i am going to do animations for other mods again after mine is released, since the release is really soon :p

That reminds me, how will you handle his helmet? Headbutting with a helmet is silly, but Dáin looks cooler with his helmet on. Not sure I'd recommend headbutting as a power though, because of how it might look. I mean, what would it do, precisely?

 

Oh, and I trust you Maxim to make the headbutt look cool, which it doesn't do in the film. Hell, Dáins animations generally looked bad in the film. A prime example of CGI done bad.

Headbutt ability would perhaps kill a battallion or knockback a hero very far

What ror said, a quick 2 - 3 stun, as a headbutt would be like in real life if executed decently, and perhaps make it do a bit more damage than a regular swing.
