Fixed it, only took like a month to figure out XD. Problem was my intel graphics card was the default graphics card running the game. I had to change it to nVidia and it worked!

So I have have a thinkpad 10 1st gen with INTEL HD 7th gen graphics ; Atom Baytaril Z8795
BFME2 works fine after using the options.ini fix
I also just got a Surface 3 ; INTEL 8th gen prahics ;Atom Cherry trail x7 Z8700
BFME2 CANNOT INSTALL
using Daemon Tolls lite and MDF file
I really want BFME 2 on this new tablet ....
Both running Win 8.1 pro 64 bit
Any solutions ????
The only difference is LENOVO has a graphics program in the setting while Microsoft has no program
Compatibility modes do no work ...
BUT BFME1 install fine on both tablets

BFME2 has stopped working .
Windows is looking for a fix .
This happens , but in the past the Options.ini fix solves this on second try .
Note that it is not Windows 10 , but Windows 8.1
Also a similiar PC tablet with the same operating system works .
I think it is a graphics driver problem with the Surface 3 , which has only custom drivers from Microsoft
IF ANYONE HAS A SURFACE 3 , TRY INSTALLING BFME2

What did you try to solve it? There are many suggestions here.

Did you play a mod recently? Try to move your %APPDATA% bfme directory out of %APPDATA% to test what happens.
Which patches did you install?

Hello! I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to getting this game installed on a newer computer and I'm running into the same issue. Now, I know that this problem was solved, but my laptop doesn't have another graphics card. I just have the intel one. Am i sol? or is there something I can do?

I've tried to just start the game but it says theres an error. i tried using the compatibility with everything from windows xp package 2 to windows 8. it just never gets past the initial loading screen.

Can you please assist me with this? I am very eager to play this game on W10 64 after so many years of waiting.
What I've done so far:
1. Changed the .ini with the ones I found on interent
2. installed direct x 9 (latest version) after someone recommended me
3. downloaded the fix app.
The game still crashing after every boot I press. I am using a cracked version (reloaded) which is the very same version I used long ago.
Please advice.

Don't use any cracks other than what is recommended in the installation guide topic (pinned here in the subforum).
Make sure you follow the instructions one by one, make sure the options.ini is an .ini and not an .ini.txt

I got chrashes on startup with an optimus intel grafic / nvidia gpu setup. The cause was an old Intel grafic driver which windows 10 64 bit installs automaticly. After upgrading the Intel grafic driver manually my problem was fixed.
