How do you have so much money?

And why are there no enemy swarms on both sides converging on your base endlessly? Most of the time I can't even tech up to T3 without losing all my money and units.

I must try the mission on Mental, it seems that it might be easier than on Easy.

Yes, they do. They never leave any peace. I can never make any such screenshot without enemy units on it, like yours.

Yeah, something's not right here. The Epsilon and Allied keeps paradroping on your base, and some allied tanks sometimes slip in under where your stack of bunkers currently are. Not to mention the rocketeers, warhawks and cryos.

Yesterday I was close to the Allied's backdoors... but Epsilon to the rescue! Some Elites poked in and mind controlled my catastrophe while I was busy fending off some virus and tanks, plus rocketeers. The funny thing here is that the MC'ed catastrophe paid a visit to the Allied, but they never engaged each others until I drakuv'd the elite

Of course after that I tried again by massing my tier 2 starting infantries plus flak troopers along with my catastrophes. While I was pushing, some Epsilon troopers who were supposedly busy ambushing an Allied outpost just came in for another rescue to the bottom, thinning out my forces and delaying my assault because I can't fight two (literally) opposite sides at once, especially not with the Abrams and Riot Troopers in Allied base

This is the absolute reason why Firewalking needs to be fixed.

Well then, show a screenshot of Firewalking on easy then and see how bad the swarming is. I cannot imagine that is it that hard with all the reinforcements and starting money on easy. And just ingore the rebel base and go straight for the amplifier. The map is not that large and you can create a good opening for engis. Nuked are also a great help in clearing out the forces around the Amplifier.

Only once I managed to tech up to T3 and build a nuke silo, but I only had time to use it once, but didn't help much.

Maybe I did overdo it with the firewalking example, that mission did take me 8 tries, on medium difficulty.

And Martinoz, point taken.

In any case, I do not really love the basebuilding missions. Building a base is not bad, but those kinds of missions can take a really long time to finish. Almost spent 2 hours on Sunlight on Easy. And the objectives kinda boild down to 'clear whole map of enemy forces' most of the time, even if there are other objectives first. That is why I kinda like Firewalking. No time to build a pretty base. Just rush in and take the Amplifier.

I rather prefer the limited taskforce missions: Accelerant, Golden Gate, Wrong side(still have to beat this one), Huehuecoyotl, Scrapyard, Focus Shift, Warrantly Void, Road Trippin, some coops. Base missions where you only have to defend is imo better than standard basebuilding missions in MO, too.

I personally like base building missions and I love to take them slowly, though when they take 2-3 hours, they do get on my nerves because of the lack of saving. The original game's missions had base building missions that didn't take hours, and I personally think those were the best. On the other hand, most missions that you mentioned I don't like at all. If Human Shield would be there too, I'd call you crazy. :p

I blame the fact that they rebuild EVERYTHING you destroy, barring you from properly proceeding, and when that space to rebuild is unavailable, they just punish you by rebuilding it on a totally different place, sometimes next to your own buildings

Dragonstorm is likeable for me, at least.

Human Shield is a lot better than in 3.0 where the mission was just frustrating. It has been polished greatly imo. Even almost done it on normal. (Dem dogs eating my sniper) With the Raven and Shadow Ring you have more options with the Adepts. I would classify it more as a micro mission though.

I do like Huehuecoyotl and Focus Shift though. Focus Shift in fact was probably my favorite mission before Bottleneck. (Weird, I do seem to have taskforce missions as my favorite.)

On the other hand, I do like Dragonstorm a lot as well. Juggernaut too. And Puppet Master. Those are probably some of the best base building missions in MO. On the other hand, base building missions like Divergence and Ghost Hunt are too slow even for me, mostly because of the constant harass and/or the crazy enemy rebuilding.

However, I generally don't like missions with a timer (since I like taking things slowly, and the timers also count like 2-3 times faster than intended, rushing me even more), or with critical units that can die very easily.

--

I think the main problem is the AI in general in most missions. It is in general crazy fast, with fast rebuilding, infinite money, and many cheats, until you take out 1-2 critical buildings that debilitate them completely, and the rest of the mission is a slog of cleaning up almost impregnable defenses until the AI finally decides to trigger the sellout.

In my observation and feeling building higher tier buildings not help as Ai is more aggressive and his attack are faster and more massive.

Focus Shift and Huehuecoyoti are amazing missions, mostly due to the fact that in Focus shift there's an insane amount of stress caused in Mental difficulty, where you either need to micro your Adepts well or your MIDAS missile is destroyed, pretty simple, what makes it interesting is that you have an ally and an all out map war going on around you, gives the feeling of a proper escort mission, not just, clear the path for this gigantic rig so it can move.

Huehuecoyoti has you sneak into a coloning vats and unleash an infinite amount of brutes, it's hilarious and really shows the power you have in your hands, it perfectly demonstrates it, hell, you don't even have to use Rahn, just send him to teh choppa, and it's done.

It's just my opinion, but I like big team battles, that's the fun in strategy games, especially a game like Red Alert 2, just chaos everywhere.

Base building missions don't have to be 2 hours long, I know you generalized it as " Attack X ", but that won't be the case in MO, I'm sure, we've had several missions where we had to defend.

Base building missions could be divided into categories like,

" Support X "

" Capture/Destroy Y "

" Move though the enemy stronghold and establish checkpoints in order to weaken their defense. "

" Defend Y "

" Support your allies in destroying X "

The thing is, they can be as diverse as the micro management missions if used properly, you know?

Might be a little off topic but, oh man...
Don't remind me of the 40-50+ fails I already had at Aegis Impervious in MO 2.0...
That one mission really messed with me over much more than I had ever expected...
It's basically most of the criteria above, except for the last one...(and one hell of a nightmare)
And for goodness sake, I'm pretty sure I'm not even halfway through, even with easy mode AND a save function...
*cries really hard*
P.S. Juggernaut in MO 3.3 seems much easier, like, seriously...
*cries even harder*

Don't mind me, I'm just pretty broke nowadays...
