Special thanks to all of the instructions.

If you follow the direction to the letter then it really does work.

FYI for Windows 10 users, I found the easiest way to access the folder was by copying :"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming"  (p.s. make sure you replace your username instead of "USERNAME") into the Search bar at the bottom.

Once I did that it popped right up. For some reason when I tried going through Run or File Explorer i couldn't locate the file.

Another note is my file name was "My Battle for Middle-Earth Files" not BFME.

Something else that wasn't quite clear, is that you need to save the options.ini file in the parent folder NOT in the Maps folder that you create.

Hope this helps someone and I look forward to playing online with everyone soon!

Hello guys , everything was working fine in multiplayer, we were playing fine with my friends (only problem was in same games we were getting the out of sync message even though we have the exact same files ).
Today i updated my graphics card drivers and now i get the : Battle for Middle Earth has stopped working and i can only press "close program".

My options.ini file isnt changed at all and i didn't change anything else in my pc.. :'(

So usually the options.ini fix works
But new graphics drivers don’t play nice with this game
For instance , I have 2 Lenovo tablets that run BFME 1 and 2 fine - Helix 2 , Thinkpad 10
Both have Win 8.1 Pro
Now I also have a Surface 3 tablet that BFME 1 install , but not BFME2

I am pretty sure it’s the graphics drivers causing the issue
There is a lot of internet buzz but no fix to date

Which is why I don’t like the new stuff , there is no real backwards compatability

Be wary of updating graphics divers ... this sometimes turns out bad for older games

PS - If anyone has a Surface 3 or ANY Surface pro tablets , please try to install BFME 2 and let us know if it works

So I've tried everything to solve my bfme2 rotwk startup crash, but no avail. Just sorrow and tears after two well spent days on forums. I'll give you some specs

Tried every "solution" on windows 10.
- bfme fixxer
- options.ini

- Maps folder

- administrator mod

- compatible mods

- reinstall cc 5 times

- clean version

- patched version

- drivers

Today i had a enlightment, and installed a windows 7 ultimate edition on a furious rampage. The problem persist.
and again, i've tried every possible way.

- bfme fixxer
- options.ini

- Maps folder

- administrator mod

- compatible mods

- reinstall 2 times

- clean version

- patched version

The thing is, i have a lenovo laptop with a hybrid tech video card AMD hd 8500M - Intel HD

After starting the game, the first EA logo appears everything seems fine, there is sound and gorgeous emblem of EA and then the game suddenly crashes. BFME"stopped working..."
Slowly but surely i'm giving up
Any idea?

The folder is hidden. You need to make it visible, that might be obvious to some, but i am sure someone made that mistake.

In the folder window in the top there are some options to change visibility.

How do you make it visible? I've been looking for those options, but there's nothing I can recognise as your description.

You can search for how to find the AppData folder. Here is the answer.

Open Explorer and type

%appdata%

Each game has a different game and user folder.

I tried using this fix, but the games' folders all say they have no extra space available (I have around 700 GB available in total). Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have not encountered this issue. All I can say is are you sure? Try working around it perhaps by creating the options.ini file on your desktop.

Just leave it on the desktop rather than with the game files?

This is what it looks like after downloading the games, for reference:

I meant create it and then put it into the correct folder.

I can't put it in because it says there's no space. The games create their own virtual D: drive that has exactly as much space as the games' original downloads. I can't put anything new in them, whether that be by dragging something in from elsewhere or creating it within the drive itself.
