Maps Crashing

Best Answer Handepsilon, 22 July 2020 - 10:03 AM

no, what you need to do is basically use the Multiplayer map template, edit the local ini values so that players start with DMCV instead of their usual MCVs. Preferably also put their start location to areas that are outside of the play area.

If you want to play single player mission though, you do NOT want to use Skirmish, but instead you want to replace one of the preexisting campaign map with your new one. As I said, it is too fundamentally different to be compatible. Don't ask why, it's just Westwood being Westwood pretty much

I have been downloading custom maps to play. Those work fine, But the map I made in mental omega map maker always crashes when i click on it in skimish. Do it need a PICTURE to show in lobby or i have to change anything in this map??

Have you messed with Houses somehow? That could be one of the possible reasons.

Skirmish maps are different from SP ones, it's better not to touch houses at all, set House of human player back to none, and Player contol to no on player's house. Basically the number of houses (and their subfactions) depend on how many AI opponents you add in the lobby. IN coop/challenges those are just locked by the client, but the principle is the same. Try opening one of coop/challenge maps to see how it's done, all units are initially set to Civilian house and then change their owner via triggers.

Actually, I was making map like sp mission and tried it in skimish. Thats why i choose house for player and left other three houses (civilian, jp house, russian and psicorps) deleted remaining houses.
So making a sp map, Do I have to use player location. I have just used units and buildings made them russian house thats all. Is there any problem of playing sp map in skimish??

They are fundamentally different. VERY fundamentally different. There's a reason why co-op mission don't really work as well as single player missions. With Single Player, the houses become things you control, while in Skirmish, the players control this group called 'Player A', 'Player B' etc. and enemies don't have any starting location.

There are actually too much differences in SP and MP mode that just makes things straight up incompatible

Oh yeah, do NOT delete the default houses.

Actually I have cleared the problem of can't even click on that map...Now i can click on that map and see the preview map too. But after i select that map in skimish and started it. It just shows complete blank, Not even GUI just full blank.

Maybe i am trying to play single player map in skimish is causing problem??

If i want player to play my map as single player in skimish and i do not want them to start with mcv i want to make them start with certain units and buildings pre placed. Do i have to choose players house none or do i have to choose any house i prefer. If i have to choose players house do i have to choose that units i have placed as players faction or jp house.

Yeah that makes sense...I thought mental omega mission scripting is same like generals...Just i realized i need to replace a pre existing mission..Unlike in Generals we could make Sp missions which are playable skimish.
