Will rivendell and Haven elves have the same skin with a different color, or brand new ones?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

They will have the same basic principle for their skins, but each will have their own little... special things. One thing is their colours, as stated earlier. Also, the Rivendell Elves will have armour slightly more reminiscent of the 2nd age armour. Havens Elves will carry a sea (or possibly a swan, stupid Dol Amroth though lol) motif, but how I'm going to make the skins really different from the Galadhrim... I haven't gotten that far yet lol. Also, each of the three will have a separate helmet crest (Havens will have extremely long crests that will resemble swans, Rivendell will have a sort of "leaf-burst" motif [subject to change]).

Those Galadhrim are pretty neat, will you please PM me what units, heroes and suchlike are going to be included in this wonderful mod

I guess I could just post my rough ideas here...

Basically, the mod will add an Elven faction (lol, I know it's over-done, but I wanna do it anyway).

General Notes: The Elven faction has the most powerful units and heroes in the game. However, everything (including the basic units [I'm thinking Mirkwood Scouts will cost 350 to 400]) are very expensive in comparison to other factions. They have no walls, but many defensive plots (which, unlike everything else, will be relatively inexpensive). Don't expect perfect balance, but I'll try.

Heroes:

Elrond
General: Not exactly a powerful killing hero (uses both bow and sword, sword more powerful), his main purpose is his ability to level up nearby units four times their normal rate (and that doesn't include his Elven Wisdom ability).
Abilities: Athelas (Hero heal only), Leadership (400% experience), Elven Wisdom (like Kings Favor, but double the radius and experience), Power of the Bruinin (fires water/water horses [depends on whether or not I can get the horses to work] at a targeted area).

Arwen
General: Can be used as both an early and late game scout because of her Asfaloth ability.
Abilities: Mount, Asfaloth (increases her mounted speed significantly for a period of time [this is insanely fun to use]), Evenstar (basically the Phial of Galadriel skill), Daughter of Elrond (earns more experience when near Elrond [subject to change]), Loudwater Fury (a smaller scale Power of the Bruinin)

Galadriel
General: The Gandalf of the Elves. Her normal attack - though slow - is a small scale AoE attack. Perfect for late game for her citadel-destroying powers.
Abilities: Elven Healing (heals nearby units and heroes), Leadership (a small leadership bonus that also effects nearby heroes as well as units), Visions (basically the palantir skill), Nenya (magic attack that deals extra damage to buildings), Power of the Lady (smaller scale Word of Power)

Celeborn
General: I'm still working with him. No bow attack though, sword only.
Abilities (to date): Cloak (hobbits cloak ability), Lord of Gifts (offers faster recharge time and better auto healing to nearby heroes), Summon Galadhrim (summoning skill...)

Haldir
General: He's just Vapula's Haldir, minus the summoning skill (I'm really not a fan of summoning skills) and his Leadership only effects Elves (probably only Galadhrim at that, maybe Mirkwood Scouts too)

Legolas
Same Legolas, plus a Leadership ability to nearby Mirkwood Scouts.

Celeglin
General: Sold separately  . Basically, if you want him, you download one version of the mod. If you don't, download the version without him. He's my own original character. Uses both bow and sword, but his bow is more powerful and much faster.
Abilities: Double Shot (Hawk Strike), Elf Eyes (bonus to vision and range to nearby troops), Captain of Lorien (leadership to nearby Galadhrim and maybe Mirkwood Scouts), possibly a music-type skill... depending on how well I can mod by the end of this all.

Note: I did not add in Thranduil, Elladan/Elrohir, Cirdain, or Glorfindel because I don't have the resources to create them (as they are not in the movie [I could make them from scratch, but I'm really not feeling like doing that, what with the entire rest of the mod to do]) and I don't have enough creativity (or modding skills to be creative) to really make them them different from the other Heroes.

Units

Mirkwood Scouts
General: Basic unit of the Elven faction. Longer range and faster attack than the Elves that are currently ingame, but less attack damage, and much less health and armour. They have a stealth ability and are bow exclusive.

Rivendell Riders
General: Fast cavalry units. They have less trample damage than the Rohirrim, but more actual attack damage (allowing for different strategy [I hope]).

Spearmen of the Havens
General: Pikeman units. High health and armour, but slow attack and not insanely high damage.

Galadhrim Warriors
General: Though this is not exactly true to the books, they will be the strongest Elven units (I like em best, so :D ). Basically they are the Elven Warriors already in game with slightly less range (to make the Scout range more impressive) but a little more damage with both sword and bow, and the sword attacks will be a little more powerful.

Other Stuff

Spellbook: Heal, Elven Gifts, Summon Elves, Elven Wood, Cloud Burst, Summon Eagles, Summon Ents, Summon Army of the Dead

Elven Barracks: Recruit Mirkwood Scouts, Spearmen of the Havens, and Galadhrim Warriors

Elven Stables: Recruit Rivendell Riders and purchase Horse Shields.

Forge: Purchase Heavy Armour, Banner Carriers, Forged Blades, and Fire Arrows. At level 3, purchase Mithril Arrows (incredibly expensive to purchase and upgrade) (may or may not be included).

Seige Equipment: I will either leave them with just Ents (and allow them to build Ent moots on settlement plots) or I will come up with some sort of seige weapon that will be appropriate for Elves.

The Elven Warriors will be removed from Rohan and replaced by Rangers of the North who will be on par with the original Elven Warriors (so no rebalancing there). Legolas may be removed from Rohan as well and replaced by another hero or two, but I'm definately not sure yet.

So yeah, as you can see this mod will is far from revolutionary. Just something I want to put together.

Revolutionry it aint, realistic it is. It means that unlike many mods, you'll actually release it. Excelent stuff so far, I'm terribly jealous of the face on the Galadhrim

Well that sure is a boost of confidence. Thanks :D

As for the face, I just pieced together stuff from here:

http://www.theargona...res/ftttdg.html

I'd have used more of the material from this little gallery, but everything is really washed out in colour. I had to add numerous colour blending layers, screw with colour balance, and brightness/contrast. To do the entire thing with these pics would have been more hassel than I want.

Great little site for random Elf pictures: The Argonath . Though that picture of the owner on the main page... frightens me  . Can't tell if its a guy or girl.

Now I'm trying to find decent pictures of heraldry that I can use to blend into the cloaks of my units... I've found a half-decent Gil-Galad one... And may be able to pick off Thranduil's emblem from the stand that comes with Legolas's knifes.

EDIT:Here are the Spearmen of the Havens

Lol. This one was weird to make. I had no idea what to do for it, so I just sorta threw on a few random textures and worked around with them. I got the inspiration for the crest on the helmet from a LotR painting I saw a while ago. The emblem on the cloak is Gil-Galad's. I'm going to work on the hair sometime... I just threw on Elrond's hair for the time being (those braids don't turn up so pretty on the model). Now I've gotta find something to do for heavy armour...

EDIT2: That was easy. Here's the heavy armour:

In terms of adding a sword to a model that doesn't have one, you don't need to add an extra bone. Just link the sword to the hand bone that is holding it.

The leg bone is connected to the thigh bone....the thigh bone is conneceted to the hip bone

Not exactly sure what you're refering to, but thanks for the reassurance  .

Here are my last units for the Elven Faction:

Riders of Rivendell (I know they're not on horses yet! You'll have to wait till I get them ingame for that)

Very nice!

I love the main taint of the texture.

The whole elf looks really good, the shield, cape and helm amaze me most.

Well I can't take any credit for the shield. It's taken straight of Vapula's Gil-Galad model, and the texture for it is just a recoloured version taken from the same character. I think I may end up looking around to see if I can find some quality shots of Gil-Galad's shield (I need his because of the blue [it can be more easily changed to the green colour than say, the solid gold of the Army's shields]). Thanks for the comments though :D .

NOTE: If anyone can determine where I got the textures for the skirts and the belt on the Rivendell Elves, I will be thoroughly impressed.

lol, not quite, but far-out enough for me to tell you the real answer. It's from one of Arwen's dresses (the one where she has her vision of her son). I just recoloured it and the belt is the collar to that same dress. Nice little tidbit for ya.

Here are some action shots of the Mirkwood Scouts:

I also had the Spearmen of the Havens ingame, but I guess I didn't export their cloaks properly because they were invisible. They looked pretty though  .

EDIT: Btw, I have a website ready to go up... I'm just waiting for Revora to accept hosting it or not. It's been a few days since I sent in my request though, so I'm considering just uploading it onto my own - crappy - server.

Thanks ched. I kinda forgot about this thread.

As for your question Valandil, I honestly don't know when I'll be done. All the things I have left to do (add units, create bases, add faction, add spell powers, etc.) are things I've never done before. It depends on how quickly I catch on. I've also rediscovered the joy of campaign mode and am having some fun with that at the moment (currently have the Lothlorien Heroes at Lothlorien (Haldir comes in with the escort, Celeglin, Celeborn, and Galadriel are waiting at Caras Galadhon)) and then Haldir again at Helm's Deep. I'm currently adding Elrond to Dunharrow. Who knows, if I get any good at this I might add some new stages to the campaign for the Elves... Dunno though. Just go check out the website!!! lol

Cool! I found another rp person that wanted to add their rp character to BFME!! sorry ^^: well I was wondering if you could somehow help me model some of my rp characters after you're done with the mod? I've been trying to but it's been a real pain in the tush. After I finished editing my models, and I try to bind the mesh to the wwskin, and then select vertexs for the bones, the list of bone names dissappeared! No bone names! So then I just kinda gave up ^^;

Make sure you add the bones to the wwskin before you place the wwskin on the field. Took me forever to figure that one out :) .
