My wife has finaly suceeded... she's given me a stress Ulcer.
The good news is in the near future she'll be heading up to see her mom for a few weeks and I'll probobly get to do lots of modding then.
the mod is no where near dead. its just in remission for the moment while I get life under control one problem at a time. I still work on it in fleeting moments and am still very close to having a playable China Alpha out.
I also want to include with that alpha some of the other game wide ideas I've had, such as the walls/fences.
Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

What's your snail mail? I'll send you some tagamet. *G* Take it easy Pen. We can wait... Even for an Alpha release, I'd rather have somthing polished than half finished stuff.
I know the deal with RL problems... have my own share of them at the moment. I find a glass or six of red wine before bed helps.
saddly I can't stand alcohol, thus preventing me from drinking my problems away... although I'm told on good authority that with enough drinking your wife and children WILL go away eventualy.
I love mine enough, they are just lots of work and stress. still, when they go out of town I will have mad time for modding and will for sure be releasing the China alpha then... but until then I just kinda hope I get a chance eventualy. Right now I can't even start modding till 10:30 at night, and that late I've got no interest in starting code. (its funny, if I had started at 7pm I would have coded till 4 am, but I can't stand starting after 10:30)

And as for enough alcohol, well, I'm a moderate. I like my 2 glasses of red wine a day. 1 with dinner, one after dinner/before bed. Looks like I might hit a bit more tonight tho...(Prob a bottle and a half of Old Vine Zinfandel from Cali.)

I'd really like to see units have the ability to get higher experience for something like up to a rank 10!

the 3(4) rank system is hard coded into the game... can't change it.. I agree, it would be cool to reward units with more EXP

Once a unit has max rank its like 3 of teh same unit in one, Making it have more ranks would just make them rediculasly overpowered.

i've only seen it in shockwave, but it is in zero hour already, but not all time..
that i'm talking about is when you using artillery - there comming a sound.. you know uh, like when the shells are comming from the sky.. like the chinese artillery shell shooting (from generals point) there comming this "artillery sound" and that sounds great..
could be nice if that also was in the mod

I've had to scratch a couple of the things I wanted off of tank general, but everything I've shown on Revora will be staying... The most notable item to not be staying is the Lightning super weapon. I tried several versions of the superweapon and I'm not happy with any of them. "Coil OverCharge" will be the last step in the lightning tech tree
There were some potential lvl3 frenzy command units etc, but thats not making the cut either. I've decided that Tank is already plenty strong, borderlining on over powered now, and they don't need more toys.
The only remaining work left to do for tank is to clean up the exsitng items with details like putting the ingame object labels on units. I'm counting on a slow work day today, so I might even be able to do that before the day is out.
Theres alot of work to do for infantry china, but I doubt it will take me a whole week now. The biggest delay for the China alpha will be walls/fences and other non-general specific changes. still, I'll be shocked if it takes 2 weeks.

The artillery is supposed to have an ambient sound... it has the sound in the code, I have no idea why it isn't heard in game.

I LOVE the pic... I'm a huge Vader fan.
no, I did consider a big lightning cannon that would shoot up, I even made a model for it. I tried about 3 different models in all... The missile one, the lightning cannon, the weather gun... none looked right. the FX for the weather gun is still a cool idea... I just didn't like the way the tower came out.
I'm still open for ideas on it... but it won't be included in the Alpha... If I do make any version of it final it will have to be included only in the final release.

are the new buildings like the nukegen baikanur rocket building or is that all for later releases?
If I've shown it online it will be included. The only things I've shown that might not be included are a couple models where Rosco gave me a render only. I'm still hoping these will make it in time to be included.
an established feature in contra is not selling buildings... will this ever be added back?
I dunno... thats a frequent question. I'm with the croud that prefers the perminant buildings, but I might make defenses refundable. That will not be in the next alpha though. many of the new defenses don't even have the art code needed to sell, and I'm not going to delay it for that.

I think you should replace the "sell" feature with a "deconstruct". The diference is that you get no money from it, and it's a slow process (about 1/4 the time used to build it). This way it only serves to release the space.
if your gonna do that you can just attack it with your units
