One bat of Scouts won't win against several bats of Soldiers. You try to shoot one - two next are coming. Until getting flet Gondor will take over the map and just kill Elves with Soldiers spam. And hwo many Slodiers battalions Knights would beat? And don't forget about hobbits :D

And I guess the best strategy is to build 3 battalions of scouts, one Sentinel and wait for miracle...

Some great ideas and comments being thrown around.

- Sorry about the Sentinels being selected with "Q" (I myself never use the button, using the number shortcuts exclusively), but there's nothing I can do there.

- A passive ability for Sentinels is certainly something I can toy with.

- I'm fairly certain Farms don't gain arrow upgrades at level 3, seeing as the code for the weaponset upgrade is commented out (ie it's there, but is "removed" in a way that the game doesn't read it)

- I'm going to answer you anyways, Lauri. I use Scouts late game because of their excellent damage output against buildings. I use them more often, however, as backup for my cavalry if I decide to focus on them (find them more cost effective than Galadhrim in this case, as the cavalry will probably be taking most of the heat anyway).

- I had actually tried something VERY similar to that, Amroth, in my last 1v1v1 game. Unfortunately, I really didn't get to test it as Gondor player rushed the other player instead of me (I'm assuming). I was also using the latest version of the mod (where the Flets are cheaper and quicker to build)

What is going to be done with Saruman's wormtongue ability once Grima is finalized? Will he be getting any other changes?

I just remembered that on Mirkwood when the reinforcements come (celeborn, galadriel etc.), Celeglin comes with them but celeborn comes at rank 8 also so you can have 2 celeglins. :p

O and you probably know that Gandalf's Lightning Sword ability is "used" right when you click it. This bug is amazingly annoying when you are trailing some enemy horses but you mistime the LS and it doesn't even hit them, but you already used it. :( Could you make it so that this isn't "used" until say when his sword is charged.

Since it says big and brite on my title, I was the gondor player, and the elves rushed me :?:
But yes, Cel was able to get flets up fast and sentials are really effective, he must have seen atleast half the map with them :p

I go away for a day and look what happens. :p OK, a passive ability for the Sentinels sounds intriguing; I was thinking of what it could do-maybe a passive stealth leadership, i.e. units around the Sentinel get around the same stealthiness as the Sentinel (probably too hard to code). Or even an ability which compliments their superior sight, giving them the ability to see nearly twice what they normally can for about 5 seconds (call it 'Farsight'). Meh, I'm just throwing ideas out...

Also, what are your ideas for the Rhun mission in the campaign?

To Thorontur: you mean you can't target the ability?

- Saruman will probably keep his Wormtongue ability (renamed to Dominate) once Grima comes around. Since balance will have to be radically changed once I start adding in these various hero changes, it's not out of the question that Saruman will get a new ability.

- I thought I had removed Celeglin from Celeborn's summon in the Mirkwood map, but apparently not :p. I think I might just switch out that ability all together and give him a "Glorious Charge" ability for that map only.

- I'll see if I can do anything about Lightning Sword. The ability is basically just Arrow Wind with different FX and weapons, so I might be able to do something about it.

- Being able to see so much of the map with the Sentinels was addictive in that match :?:. When I lost a Sentinel to Elvenlord, I sent in a diversion of Scouts to try getting two Sentinels in place around where the old one died (one got shot down, but the other made it :p). It got funny though when both haydn and I were trying to place a Sentinel in the same place and they kept revealing eachother :p .

- I can't make non-stealthy units stealthy via any sort of ability that I can think of.

- I can change the vision and attack range of a unit via attributemodifiers, however I can't change the shroud clearing range (yes, this is different from the vision range). Therefore, vision and attack range leaderships tend to be quite limited.

- For Rhun: Avari.

Hello everyone^^
Not seen you for a long time...

Well, I have an idea for the earlytime of the battle:
Why not taking in a soldier-unit (model like the elven swordsman in BfME2) for 350 or sth like that instead of increasing the MS` abilities?

PS: Crap, I failed in a German class-test...poems... :?: :p
Now I will kick some orcish/gondorian asses :p :p
Oh my god, they killed Rei!!!

I wrote my exam about that yesterday :p

It might be good to give elves a second unit in the beginning.
All factions have two except Isen, but they get nevertheless the building from which they get 90% of theier units asap..
I am think esp. on bigger maps with many settlements but this would help also the Elves on FoI as one squad could go immedeantly hit-and-run the enemy (soldiers) and weaken them much earlier before they arrive at the own buildings.
A sentinal would do the job.

Elves are fine as-is.... or, against some.... remeber, you all say Elves are OP against mordor, and UP against Gondor... giving them another unit, would mean Less UP against Gondor, more OP against Mordor.... c'mon guys, only tweaking should be done, not new models :?: IMOs :p

Adding Swordsmen for the Elves would be more logical, too.
In all wars the Elves fought in they had Swordsmen and giving them to this faction would not overpower them if
they arent as strong as for example uruks.

Cel, what do you say about this?

I don´t like the idea of a cheap basic infanterie swordsmen. That would make them to similar to Gondor or Isen imo.

You are right with this but they should cost 350 or sth around. I think this would fit.

I've already turned down the idea of starting melee infantry for Elves twice. Having to use offense-oriented archers as your early game units makes the Elves very different from the other factions, rather than just being a (say) more expensive version of Gondor's starting options.

You'll have to wait for Eriador in The Last Twilight for your cheap melee infantry.

The Elven Alliance 2 :) only, it's called The Last Twilight, cause Celeglin needed an excuse to make changes to other factions :p ;) and because the name rocks!
