I agree with Cel and Lauri, Elves early game is one-of-a-kind and I wouldn't change ;)

Oh, also, I forgot to mention in this my previous post: what about Sentinels making a combo-formation with other units, say Scouts?

And yeah, the Elven early game is one of a kind. ;)

Maybe give such combo some bonuses, like +10% range, +10% attack and a small speed bonus? Sentinels would become an upgrade for Scouts.

I was thinking something like that, yeah.

I believe someone posted a few pages back that a heavy armour upgrade for the Haradrim Lancers could be useful in making them Mordor's new early-game specialist unit.
I think, instead of having heavy armour as an upgrade, we could include a 'spiked shields' upgrade instead.
I've never modded before, so I don't know how much coding, modelling, and animating this would require.
Just a suggestion, of course. Cel can tell me f*ck off, for all I know.
Thoughts, opinions?

No, if it's just a suggestion I don't think Celeglin would tell you to f*ck off. Anyway, that sounds like an idea, though I'm not so sure...it could be like Thranduils shield: more armour against arrows, less armour against melee combat. That would certainly put more strategy into the Haradrim.

Hmm... I like it, and it would give me good grounds to make the defense ratings different from other HA upgrades. Due to the two-handed animations though, I'll probably have to put the shield further up the arm. It will also require a lot more coding work that I don't really want to do (hiding and unhiding the shield object, unless I use alpha channels...). We'll see.

It'd certainly be unique...maybe it could be slung on the back, instead of the arm?
That way, you could still have the defense ratings (from missile, maybe not so much melee) and not have to do much animation work.
And for an added bonus, you'd be pleasing the Purist population with this move as well...

It won't look as good if slung on the back (and if you think about it in reality, you'd be fighting from the front, apart from when in retreat). Better to leave it on the arm.

Yeah, that's probably for the better. Should I take this to one of the discussion threads? (rhetorical question)

@ swan: Olorin's idea to have combined Scout/Sentinel hordes? No, probably not. I want to keep Sentinels out there alone and don't want to give players the temptation to just stick them with someone else for a bonus. Takes away the strategy I was hoping to add with them.

Fair enough. I didn't really expect any result from that idea, I was just throwing it out there.

Celeglin, are Ministrels going to work like Sentinel's in Olorin's idea? Or rather like Drummer Trolls, for example?

I think like Drummers, and they might possibly have some sort of attack. Can't wait for more info on these units!

a. glorfindel wasnt in the movie and actually got cut from it very earler.
b. that is the exact same person who is in Glorfindel's palantir right now.
c. you have to remember that it needs to fit the circle shape that the palantir uses, and that wouldnt fit it as well.
d. the one that is there looks fine the way it is

p.s. but this is just what i have to say. Cel might say the complete opposite and take it ;)
