Celeglin probably won't be able to include all of those new units you've suggested, although it would make it more fun. If he were going to include all those Rhun units then he would probably make a whole new faction; not gonna happen though. Thanks for your suggestions though. :p

oohw,
at first i was sooo happy that Rhun archers would be in the mod.
then olorin said they wouldn't and now.... :p

but why does everybody come with uruk scouts??
in the movie Hama and his friend were under attack by a warg scout before the wargs attack the convoy which was on it's way to helm's deep
in the book and movie there is no Uruk scout.

Of course there weren't any Uruk Scouts in the book; Tolkien rarely mentions specific armour/weaponry/anything related to battle in his work. In the movie: do you remember the scene in Amon Hen? Lurtz? And there are your Uruk Scouts. :p Anyway, what should we call these new Elite Uruks? I think Orophin mentioned a good name: Orthanc Guard. Perhaps something like that?

yeah now that you mention it. there's no armor mentioned anywhere.
Orthanc guard's sounds fine to me.
but you can also look at that amon hen scene and then make the uruks look like those.

I've mentioned the Uruk Scouts to Celeglin many times, but he didn't like the idea. Oh well, this is his mod.

I personally don't like Orthanc Guard as a name for an elite unit :shiftee:
it's different for the Good Factions, but I don't like Guards as elite units for Isengard..... maybe just Elite Uruk-Hai, or something... nothing Guard'ish....

well the problem with uruk scouts is that you get an idea that they are stealthed.
and i don't think evil units must get stealth.

i once had a mod where there were uruk scouts which were invisible.
and i deinstalled that mod within a few minutes of playing

I think Orthanc something will sound cool, so what about Orthanc Veterans? I'm being serious.

I reckon that the Evil units need at least one stealth unit; it'll sorta balance things out and give Evil something new. In my interpretation of Uruk Scouts, I would have them stealthed with high damage and high health, but to compensate, low armour.

And yeah, you should've uninstalled that mod; there was probably something wrong with it.

Command of Orthanc? Orthanc Commanders.... or not, cause I doubt commanders run in hordes... :rolleyes:

Elite Orthancians? :p Orthanc Berserker, Uruk Elf-slayer :p Uruk Bad-boys....
Bad boys of Orthanc....

Orthanc Commando, Orthanc Uruk-Hai, Orthanc Elite, Orthanc Swiftslayers... Uruk-Hai from the basement of the Tower of Orthanc! ;)

Nope, no stealth for anything Uruk-Hai. Legolas could feel their presence from miles away, Aragorn could feel them moving across the earth, and even Gimli could follow their trail of destruction. Nope indeed.

As for the name "Orthanc Elite", I like it. Good thinking.

More Rhovanion stuff!!!

~~~ HANDMAIDENS ~~~
Basic:
- no normal attack
- can combine with any melee-capable infantry battalion (ie. no Scouts or Knights). They will form a ring around her.
- low defense
- middling infantry speed
- Prayer to Yavanna: ranged spell that uses vines to damage buildings. Does some damage to enemy units. Relatively fast reload.
- Nimrodel's Song: passive area healing. Same radius as Gondor/Rohan Well. Does not revive fallen units.
Upgrades:
- Blessings of Nenya: gives Handmaiden an attack that does no damage, but knocks back all surrounding enemies.
- Memories of Melian: increases Handmaiden's resistance to ranged attacks.
~~~ GREENWOOD SPEARS ~~~

Basic:
- high attack damage and attack speed
- anti-cavalry
- low defense
- fast infantry speed
- stealthed near trees
- middling-low cost
- Ambush Formation: increased attack, decreased defense

Upgrades:
- Heavy Armor: not as big an upgrade as it is for other units.
- Forged Blades

~~~ MIRKWOOD SCOUTS ~~~
Basic:
- high attack damage
- very high attack speed
- very low defense
- fast infantry speed
- stealthed near trees
- low cost (200-250)
- Ambush Formation: increased attack, decreased defense
Upgrades:
- Fire Arrows
~~~ MARCHWARDENS ~~~

Basic:
- toggle bow (better attack) and sword (better defense)
- middling attack damage
- middling-high attack speed
- middling-low defense
- fast infantry speed
- stealthed near trees
- middling cost
- Lorien Cloaks: allows Marchwardens to be stealthed anywhere. Moving or attacking cancels stealth.

Upgrades:
- Fire Arrows
- Forged Blades

~~~ GALADHRIM WARRIORS ~~~
Basic:
- toggle bow (better attack) and sword (better defense)
- high attack damage
- high attack speed
- middling-high defense
- fast infantry speed
- high cost
- Lorien Cloaks: allows Galadhrim to be stealthed anywhere. Moving or attacking cancels stealth.
- NOTE: Galadhrim do NOT have passive stealth.
Upgrades:
- Fire Arrows
- Heavy Armor
- Forged Blades
~~~ GUARDIANS OF THE SILVER TREE ~~~

Basic:
- high attack damage
- high attack speed
- high defense
- fast infantry speed
- high cost
- when combined with another battalion, the other battalion gains a substancial defense boost

Upgrades:
- Heavy Armor
- Forged Blades
- Wing Shields: Increased defense against ranged attacks.

~~~ AMROTH'S KNIGHTS ~~~
Basic:
- low weapon damage
- high trample damage
- middling attack speed
- excellent crush deceleration rate
- can continue to deal crush damage at lower speeds
- high defense
- slow cavalry speed
- high cost
- Wedge Formation: increased attack, decreased defense
Upgrades:
- Heavy Armor
- Forged Blades
- Wing Shields: Increased defense against ranged and spear attacks.
NOTES on the renders below:
- pictured are the Greenwood Spears (both heavy and light armor variations shown), Handmaidens of Galadriel, Marchwardens, and Mirkwood Scouts
- I'm making a bunch of new animations for the Handmaidens (and Galadriel, for that matter) based off Zelda in Super Smash Bros. Melee (Ha! Good luck). Pictured is the first one I've finished.
There is probably not enough space in this post to put all the wows in, so I'll just go ahead with one: *wait for it* wow! Loving the new work Celeglin, and hopefully the new site will be up and running before long. Especially now that you've added all those small bits of detail (such as the handles on the swords and bows). The Greenwood Spears look amazing, and I can't wait for the new animations for Galadriel and her Handmaidens (which are equally amazing, by the way). As you can tell, I'm a small fan of your work. :p
Just a question though: will you be reskinning all the original heroes? Or touching up on them (adding those aforementioned 'small details')? Because they will look a bit out of date compared with these new bits of eye-candy.
Edit: yay! You liked mine and Lauri's (well, Lauri's, I just approved) Orthanc Elite idea! :p ;)
Edit #2: only 15 more posts to 1000! :rolleyes:
