The Wii IMHO is ok cause the Wiimote and Nubchuck are quite an intesresting piece of technology, good for Nintendo for making something quite amazing, Although I still plan on getting a PS3.
In the end it's all about personal choice, that's why I want a PS3.

Soul 2.4
Background process. Has something to do with some activity going on somewhere. Sorting junkmail, I think. No value or interest. Doesn't do much except hog resource.

Are you on crack, Ash? The N64 had some of the best games ever made. The PS1 was piss-poor.
The Ps1 birthed some of the most successful videogame franchises ever to have existed. You can't say the same for the N64.

Combine that with classics, lets list some hmm Lylat Wars, Mario 64 (3d platforming for the first time and executed beautifully), Donkey kong 64 (likewise), mario kart and diddy kong racing being, of course, the most fun you can have in a racing game, the Turok series producing some fantastic games...
The Legend of Zelda! That was the greatest game of all time, by miles!
And still all playable today. Has anybody tried playing a PS1? It was bad enough at the time. Now it's absurd.

Goldeneye was one of the few console games that you could claim was revolutionary, and made everybody look round. One of the most influential games of all time. Perfect Dark, the sequel, was just as far ahead of it's time, if not more. It was like a cross between Goldeneye and Metal Gear Solid, with other things and... oh god, we haven't seen anything like it since, even.

I disagree - the N64 had a number of good games but, the PS1 is not as bad by far as you make it out to be. Castlevania SOTN, Crash Bandicoot 1 - 3 and Team Racing, Resident Evils, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy VII through IX are all excellent exambles of games which remain awesome. Especially when shoved on a PSP with popstaion.

If the Ps1 was such a poor console, then why are variations of it still being sold in large numbers today? I can't say the same for the N64.

But of course, it's pointless arguing about dead consoles - we're almost 2 generations down the line.

No "truly epic games"? While not necessarily in my opinion the best games ever, you can't argue with the fact that Gran Turismo, Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot all spawned on the Ps1 - and are all some of the biggest selling game franchises ever. Grand Theft Auto and Tomb Raider are also good examples, although they also had simultaneous PC releases.
- Game Franchise sales figures and overall positions of the above;
6. Grand Theft Auto - 50 million units sold
10. Gran Turismo - 44 million units sold
13. Crash Bandicoot - 34 million units sold
14. Resident Evil - 31 million units sold
16. Tomb Raider - 30 million units sold
Surely that says something? These aren't just existing successful franchises that moved to the console - they started on the console and made their success from there, something which np game on the N64 succeeded in doing.
What the N64 did have however is releases upon already successful franchises - Madden NFL, Mario and Zelda, long established in the SNES days. However would these games have sold as well without the long standing brand name behind them? Probably not, although they would have sold well.

I didn't mean to imply it spawned from it, I meant the FFs are the main noteworthy games from the PSX. I'm well aware of the existance of games previous to FF VII - I don't just think they randomly number tha games.Final Fantasy existed way before the Ps1, so you can hardly say it spawned there.

Just because people buy the crap from a franchise doesn't mean I personally would consider it epic (which you should simply replace with awesome to better understand what I actually meant).
The Gran Turisimos on the PS1 aren't that great in my eyes. Resident Evil and Crash are indeed two of the great series on the console itself.
Really this is useless as it's a matter of taste unless sales figures actually are a factor in you enjoying something. The PS1 had fewer games I consider to be awesome personally (The FFs, The Crash series, Castlevania:SOTN, MGS, Silent Hill and the Resident Evils) when compared to the N64 (Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario 64/Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, both Zeldas, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, F Zero X, Donkey Kong 64 etc.) indeed there are some good games on the PSX other than those I class as awesome but like a lot less than N64 games (Spyro and Tekken spring to mind).
Lastly in regards to a name causing the titles to sell - who cares? Most of the nintendo franchises are actually managing to pull off consistant excellent quality releases. Assuming the games weren't well known and I'd played them I'd probably still hold them in as high regard as they'd still be the same game.
