Fiber internet availability is growing. Some neighbourhoods in the nearest city (Nijmegen) have it already :p

It would be so awesome to have (especially when HD films show up on the net :p)

alpha release? but you have already released the beta? :xcahik_:

Development -> Alpha [internal] -> Beta [(semi-)public] -> RC (Release Candidate) [almost done] -> Release

that's the way it works

ps. you can edit your sig so that image links to your forum / site

Oh really? *LOL* I had ALWAYS thought that Beta was the "almost finished" release, and the Alpha the 100% finished product? "Beta" is still "almost done" though, since we're all familiar with "beta-testers", no?

Hehe, well I consider all players of this mod right now to be just that, and I hope some of them report back to me with their findings. I'm testing it myself now, since I discovered that the -mod conversion brought along some minor "bugs", that probably is some kind of conflict with the original game. That I didn't have them before seems logical since the "folder swap" method removes the original game...

Currently I'm playing with Men, and so far I haven't found any new bugs other than the ground markings thing, that really isn't much of a disaster anyways. Other than that I have the three (up until now found) bugs listed in my forum...

Linking the signature, sure, but how? :xcahik_:

"Beta" is still "almost done" though, since we're all familiar with "beta-testers", no?

a beta is known to have bugs and missing features. a release candidate is the final testing round, and it's supposed to have all bugs fixed and all features implemented. in fact, firefox RC's don't have "RC" anywhere in their name, so that if they are succesfull they can be released without change :xcahik_:

My subforum isn't really exposed to this level, so I might as well continue with general issues here... :p

Beta-testing has been going on for some days now and I'm starting to have the feeling that the -mod conversion needs to be re-done... OR... I will have to go back to "folder swap" method... Why?

I'm up to 5 new bugs now that did NOT exist before the conversion. It just sucks to have the feeling that I need to play-test the WHOLE game again (I did that like 400 times during developement of this mod), and I KNOW these bugs weren't there... Now they are, and I have no idea how many more I, or the beta players, will discover

Bugs are one thing, but bugs that weren't there before are REALLY frustrating, since I have no idea how to fix codes that were ok before with folder swap. Logically these problems are due to this mod being built in a way that maybe conflicts with the original files this way, and since they we're all moved to backup before...

I agree that "-mod" is THE way to go - BUT that's when everything is working off course. My old method is lame and demands LARGE downloads, but it's safe in a way thet the original files wont conflict with the mod...

I dunno what to do? It's no fun having a -mod that doesn't perform as good as it was during developement! Hmmm ;)

Hmm, I'm not so sure U can, since most of them seem to be there despite not being there before conversion :(

They are all listed in my Sub Forum: Bug Reports, last post...

EDIT: just saw that u gave an answer there 2Play - thanks! I will read it carefully :p

you know, you can't blame the -mod command for your bugs ;)

it's your own fault ;) you should've started out with the -mod command :p

you can't blame the -mod command for your bugs

indeed. you can of course say that the -mod command introduced bugs you didn't have before, as that may be right, but it's not like you can't use the -mod command without accepting bugs :p

My point is: most of them weren't there before the conversion! That means that most of them are due to conflict with the original game since it stays with this way of modding. And I do agree that this is the best way, I'm just sad that I didn't start out with -mod which has a lot to do with the basic mod from Sniggles that were Folder Swap... :p

Worst one to crack now is the darn Nazguls on the IsengardFellbeast! I have NO IDEA how they came back there. Lauri helped me get them in game before and they worked 100% with folder swap, but not now :(

It was me off course... I forgot that when Lauri gave me the IsengardFellbeast it was liked to two scripts in Data1.big... I made those changes directly in Data1.big before the conversion, and then I forgot to extract the needed files from that Big and make a new folder for these scripts in the -mod. It's fixed now and Isengards fellbeasts no longer have any Nazgul riders... wohooo!

In fact, most things are fixed now... only 2 left - Aragorns Elendil + Isengards rain- (listed also in the sub forum bug reports) and no new bugs found yet! This might be a "beta rel v1.1" pretty soon :)
Check Sub Forum: Bug Reports

If I get this in order and can't find any more bugs in the near future I will upload a new INI to the site

EDIT: IMPORTANT INFO!!!
Thanks to "adummy" on the forum (beta tester) I found that I forgot to say: PLAY THIS MOD WITH STARTING CASH 4000 - unless you wanna slow things down even more... Anyway, that's how I always played this mod and I totally forgot to mention it. This mod is slowed down from the original game in many aspects, but the way the cost is set for all things in this game, you will NEED to set game settings ("Rules") to 4000 cash! I will update the ReadMe and such things too...

Well yes, those kinds of slow downs are deliberate to avoid the "tank rushes" after 2 minutes... But the way the cost is set for units, structures and upgrades, 4000 cash is the way to go from start
