i thought i might let you know how the balista ladder things going on

pretty welll
but again animation gets annoying and im not brilliant at that

in one animation i need to edit the balista one so the arrow bone keeps flying and goes higher - but its attached to another bone which pulls it back gradually when it reloads so i've had to go through almost every frame to stop it moving back...
the ladder is easy enough to be pulled up
but then theres the rope... that needs one end to follow the ladder and one follow the arrow
and it keeps randomly going flying in the air :(

this is just for the basic deploying animation

the other ones are MUCH more simple though so its all good XD (no arrows flying or rope needed in others)

woooh animating sucks
ah well :p

Yes, I agree :p Don't worry about the animations being perfect right now. We can always fix that later :blink:

So was the arcade a good size?

Whoops :grin: Forgot to talk to you abou that. I think may try the arcade because I'm looking for something really specific. I believe I may want the gate to be a seperate object/model than the arcade. It's just figuring out the right size and position, which I can only do because I have the map. :shiftee:

Large seige ladders - In the movie, Isengard uses several large ladders to scale the walls of the Hornburg. They do this by shooting hook with a ballista and then slowly raising the ladder with rope to the walls of the Hornburg. Now, of course, this would just be insanely hard to model and animate. So instead, I'm thinking that we just take the existing ladder model and make the ladder longer so it can reach the Hornburg walls. Also, since the ladder is going to be longer and heavier, I'm thinking that we should replace the regular uruks who hold the ladder with some small armored trolls. That would make it a lot more realistic and still maintain the idea of having a larger siege ladder.

Just out of curiosity, what would be so difficult about modeling a ladder? It's pretty much just straight lines...

It's just more than the ladder... You would have to make new units that hold the ladder since some oversized uruk-hai would not look good :p Besides, we are working on something slightly different than this which involves the ballista :sad2:
