besides its a preview/promo video it does not need to be very long.
And olli the video does not need to show all what u list... don't u think its good to let atlest somethings be open for play discovery when playing it?

no, i think showing as much as possible is better that leaving some stuff out.

showing as much as possible will entice people to play the mod when they see some much cool stuff, because they want to play with them and see them in combat.
seeing lots of units in the video, wont make people think "oh, ive seen it, im not going to play it", because if they have the attitude they probably wouldnt of planed on playing it in the first place.

and death phoenix, it doesnt matter.
you can extend it. the first part can be an intro into the movie, then you can have some extended material. showing units/combat scenes etc to different music.

but it doesnt matter, it just needs a little bit more. dont get me wrong, how its done is very cool, but if i saw that video advertising the mod, it doesnt really want to make me download it straight away. it only shows a scud storm, and a carpet bombing, a 2 second clip of the spider mechs ,and a very short clip of a lot of tanks fighting. a lot more of the mod needs to be shown.

I totaly agree... show all. Theres no sense in not showing everything... Olli is right. If they arn't intersted in the gameplay they aren't going to play long even if the do download it. Use the units and specials to draw them in. If they see it for the first time in a video or see it for the first time in the game its still only a one time impression. Gameplay is the only thing that keeps people playing. Besides, if you only get one first impression let it be under perfect conditions in a pre-recored video showing only pure pwnage.

What would be best is a long video (at least 3-5 minutes or more) using a combination of audio belending for music and sound fx, as well as visuals like the camera lenses and nightvision fx. Toss in some animated text/logos ontop of the videos and its a perfect video.

The themer of the first video made was awsome, but I would ditch the ZH intro, unless it is remade from scratch using only the audio. It shouldn't start out looking like a ZH video... it should be obviously Remix from the start, and the intro to that video was a well known ZH video.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

Don't show all obviously, but show alot. And a lot of variety. So maybe for tank don't just show his tanks in combat, show someone exploiting the tactical advantage of dropping some battlemasters into someones base with helixes. Which reminds me of a bug I found which I'll post in the respective thread.

my main point is its a promo video its not gonna be more than 1:30 - 2 mins right? u can't possably show everything in the game.
Also all promos for all games never show EVERYTHING, your right gameplay is more importent but i still think it would add to the fun if they had to find some things for themselfs for the first time.

it wouldnt be a trailer, it would be a gameplay video

theres a difference between promo vids, liek your 1 min one, and pends 3-4 min game play trailer.
did you get bored watching pends video?


btw, the vid wasnt bad, but i think you wasted too much time introducing your self, it was something like 10 seconds saying MIG leader productions or some thing, that part should only be some thing like 1-2 seconds, giveing you more oppertunity for video footage.

and i think that putting in the old scud storm isnt going to entice people.
its just the old scud storm, theres nothing "remix" about that part.
the rest is good thou, good work!

Not a bad video i still think that standard ZH intro is a waste of time could have had that few seconds more of units blasting some stuff in all fairness tho pretty awsome loved the low zome in shot of the fafnir blasting some infantry.

And olli this thread is called "promotional movie" its about enticing peaple in to play remix its a promo not gameplay pend made gameplay fair enough.
And pend made a good job with his videos, but i would rather a 1-1:30 leath promo showing me just a few goodies to make me crave more and then download.
All gameplay videos i watch on sites of games i find less entertaing then just a trailer/promo.
I would rather play than watch others play.

Olli u could always try making your own video if u wanted, i have tryed fraps but sometimes i get small lag spikes and graphic is not set full so it would kill the reason for the video if i tryed to show the game off.

WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME REPLACE THE INTRO WITH? game footage would ruin the theme and over 15 hours of work ive put in this video, so excuse me for not taking your suggestion lightly.

AND I CANT replace the scudstorm with out ruining my theme.

im not ditching my theme and making a new video, ill shorten the migleader start. thats all. and btw its not a ZH intro its generals original intro.

i am getting pissed at all these suggestions, i don't know how you cope with it pend.
in the end its my movie and ill make it however i want, don't ask me to ditch something i spent along time on.

Wow u need a chill pill we are only giving constructive feed back i'm not saying u "have" to change it.
And if u did remove the starting intro then u would not need the scudstorm in there.... But i agree aslong as u do keep that starting intro the scudstorm would have to remain to make any sence.
Also no one here has been ungreatful non have said omg death its the worst video ever or anything we have all been saying its pretty well put together and i already said aswell i liked it apart from the intro.

So get a grip on reality before u bitch at peaple cos its a message borad of So its stands to reason that peaple will post there views on the video, If u can't stand critasim then why bother making and posting in the first place?

If you like. I did suggest a legitimate work around on the scudstorm thing though, the guy in the video says "scud Launcher". So it doesn't have to be the scud storm. It can be done with other scud units. there will be a few more for Remix, they're just not made yet.

I'm curious about how you got some of the camera effects, like the overlays and transparencies... what program did you use to make the video?

thanks, i cant modify it any further because the 40 gig of raw game footage was deleted. (for obvious reasons)
the program i used was the latest CyberLink PowerDirector. ill post it up soon, with a link to this forum in the description.

i kept a 190 meg version, which is max quality, ok will do one more version, should i just show contras Luna missiles? or stealths mobile scud sw?

and from now on i only take suggestions form people WHO have actually made a video, aka pend.! :grin:
after this i will move on to my contra006 movie project.

I would make a video but my settings are not on hightest and sometimes i get lag spikes cos this computer is a pos lol.
Besides i don't think i could put 1 together so well... as i said i not been critasizing your work or skill only saying that intro takes a few seconds witch "could" be better used but thats my opinion.
And yer i think showing the scud weapons would be better than the scud storm.

does contra still have thos mobile sw scuds that can be fired from anywhere? could always show them.
