I understand why the KoDA and Imrahil would be moved to the end, but Gondor being a heavy Hero faction would be less interesting without Imrahil off the bat. Plus, i know that everyone and their mom believes that the KoDA would take away from Rohan's uniqueness. But, the KoDA are needed for an Elite Cavalry unit. Here is Why:

Take a look all the factions. Tell me what you see.

1. Elves(subfactioned)

Each has 1 cavalry unit w/ Rivendell being the only truly decent cavalry subfaction.

2. Dwarves(at this point)

1 unit-Battle Wagon aka Weak Cavalry faction

3. Arnor(at this point)

3 units-Dunedain Riders(ranged cavalry), Elven Cavalry(Melee Cavalry) and Royal Knights(OP'd like no other cavalry in the game. I don't expect them to stay anyway) aka Heavy Cavalry faction

4. Rohan

5-Cavalry Units(Scouts, Melee Rohirrim, Archer Rohirrim, Axe Rohirrim, and the Royal Guards) aka Best Cavalry Faction in the game.

5. Gondor(at this point)

2 units(Gondor Knights-Melee Cavalry, and the KoDA, Heavy Cavalry) aka Good Cavalry faction.

6. Goblins

1 unit(Technically only 1 unit, but the Fire Drakes, Spiderlings could all be considered semi-cavalry units) aka Decent Cavalry Faction

7. Isengard

1 unit(Same as above but for the wargs) aka Weak cavalry faction.

8. Angmar

1 unit(Same as above but for the wolves) aka weak cavalry faction.

9. MotE

Rhun has 2 units aka Decent Cavalry faction

Harad has 2 units(With one being their MHH) aka Good Cavalry faction

10. Mordor

Has no Cavalry units aka Worst Cavalry faction in the game.

This comes to a total of:

2 Really good Cavalry factions

3 good cavalry factions

2 decent cavalry factions

4 weak cavalry factions

So, if you make Gondor just another decent cavalry faction, then we will have significantly more weak cavalry factions than good ones.

"Cavalry" for Mordor are the Trolls, and they are fairly competent in their role imo. Going back on topic, for Gondor it all depends on what gets changed.

Why did you say KotDa were in Rohan? ;)

No, he said that he didn't want the KoDA compromising Rohan's status as a ZOMGWTFBBQ super elite cavalry faction.

I think, though, that the KoDA and Imrahil could stay in Gondor without threatening Rohan's status as the premier cavalry faction. Rohan tends to have more diversity in its cavalry, and most of their heroes can mount.

I don't think they threaten the balance at all. They aren't really THAT ZOMGWTFBBQ strong and they are balanced. They are a perfect example of what a MHH should be: not super weak or 'hai ur dead' strong like with Arnor's knights. They need to stay.

Agreed. They've got an excellent charge, but are quite vulnerable once they lose momentum in thicker clusters of troops. You do have to be quite smart in how you use the KoDA otherwise you will lose them.

I wonder if there is a way to reimplement the Gondor stoneworker back into the game, as a building improvement structure which not only reinforces all the player's gates and walls, but possibly provides an archer unit (or two) per every wall unit, giving it better defence.

Perhaps if they had a Stoneworker, they could get walkable walls instead of the mere delaying stockade-thingies that every faction has right now...

Did you purposefully remove Damrod, because he is no longer in the Heroes for Gondor in the new version? Also could there be a Minas Tirith or Helms Deep with 2 people protecting it?

There are two people inside the castle protecting it instead of one.

I think this gentleman means having two factions starting as allies within the castle, for example one on either side of Minas Tirith, or one at the entrance to the Glittering Caves and one behind the Deeping Wall. It's popular in multiplayer remakes of fortress maps. You'd have to double the amount of attacking spots, though. Maybe make two maps.
I liked old Damrod, but I don't know what's been done with him. He wasn't that important. I hope he just gets pasted into the Gondor inn.
Imrahil and the KoDA, I think deserve no place in Gondor. They have their own bloody inn faction for the sake of some guy with a beard. Stick them where they belong, please. And let them mount and dismount rather than having a battallion of mounted KoDA, and a battallion of dismounted ones available in the Inn. Merge these two together into a unit that mounts and dismounts, then remove KoDA from Gondor and let people with the Southern Fiefdoms recruit up to three battallions of KoDA.

That is what I meant and I do like the inn idea for Dol Amroth, but still I feel as though Damrod belongs to Gondor not the inn

Yes sir Mister Superiority Complex-ed sir!

EDIT: Fixed 'battalion' by the way. If IRS can do it, I can do it :)

You missed one of them, though; right before "mount and dismount". :p If it comes to KoDA being removed from Gondor and put in the SF inn faction, four is a much nicer number for battalion limits. With an even number, you can have more symmetrical battle lines. :)

Damrod was removed because he was just a clone of Faramir, but cheaper and without the toggle and mount. So yeah...

I've created a topic for that some time ago, I myself think that's a good idea. :wink_new:
