I hold to my opinion that Prince Imrahil should be moved and made into a Southern Fiefdom hero, only recruitable from a Lvl V Inn.
Gondor Rangers should have slightly better armour and a much higher melée attack.

Gondor/Ithilien Rangers have no melée attack currently, so do you mean giving them a higher ranged attack, or a melée attack with high dmg? Or, do you mean the attack initiated when enemies come very close? To say 'higher' when there's no melée in the first place would spark off another topic with another pointless debate about 'high' and 'higher'.

Finally, as I understand it, there will be Ithilien units with swords, fulfilling the role of melée unit, buildable from none other than the Gondor Hideout.

no im pretty sure the ranger hideout is not campaign only. its in skirmish in the beta as of right now and i assumed it was staying there. although i do think they are being changed from having swords to having spears...

Yeah, that's right. Sorry, I misinterpreted  anyway, here's what it is to my understanding:
The Ranger Hideout (Bastion? Sounds cooler :shiftee:) is for Skirmish and Campaign, and trains Rangers (archers) and Ranger Infantry (swords now, will be changed to spears eventually). As well as these, at one point (still are?) plans to have a toggling spear-bow unit was to be included.

I think the toggle got scratched

They do fight with swords atm if they get attacked in melee, in bfme1 they even had knockback when attacking with melee.

At least the toggle will be gone. Spear to bow would probably be hard to animate, and would negate both the Bow and Spear wielders.

Actually, that would be possible. And awesome, especially sine the seaprheads can be usedto hold the string in place...

Too bad the fibres of the bow-stave wouldn't be strong enough for it to be used to stab with...and if you try and throw it you'd be ninny :shiftee:
