Uruks were meant to be cheap replaceable units, their weapons are crude and easy to wield.
If an Uruk didn't last to fight in his first moments of combat and died, it meant he wasn't fit to be a warrior and would serve as a meal for those who were.
Even a troll can use a club, so a Uruk could probably wield any weapon with little training.
