meh, it depends on at what scale the camera is focused. It CAN be done, but there are several ways to go about it. I just hate when games say "well, we can't fix scale problems, so we'll ignore it and hope it goes away"

I dont really see it as a major problem, if the scales were to be realistic i would have the infantry in groups like in BFME for example, and not 1 and 1.

Supreme Commander^^ It's a great game and I play it beside ZH but not so often cause it takes so long, but the Nuke, hell yeah, or the experimantal Units^^ That games Scope and Scale seam to be very very good but I can't say it finally that they would be perfect

Sup commander seems good from what i seen and been told but i also been told that building a nuke or nuke sub can take like 30 mins or more i can't remember how long the guy said but it was something so ridiculaus that i was like omfg talk about stupid.

I don't wanna spend 3 hours on one damn game.

it can TAKE long, but games usually last 30 mins, with early game blitzkrieg strategies involving massing units.

and with ONE builder the nuke takes 3 hours to build, with 50 builders it takes less, like 5 mins.

Sup Com was OK. I think the game pace is missing something for me, its too slow, but the game features are fantastic. I played the earth campeign all the way through, but I lost intrest after that. I tried a little PvP, but the elarning curve was brutaly steep, and every "please newbs only" game I've ever joined was some jack ass who planned on rushing some noobs to improve his ranking. I'd do a lan game with people I know, but I've written off online play just because of random assholes.

CnC3 is OKish at best in my book. I've played it, tried several times to enjoy it, I just can't get into it at all.

Act of War:Direct Action I think was much much much better than CnC3. They tried to do new things for the genra. They didn't really succeed with all of it, and the game was still only on the good side of OK, but I have respect for the game. They made infantry very valuable. My favorite trick was to use blackhawks to transport infantry to key roof tops. snipers, and rocket troops in the windows and 2 mortars on the roof.

Dawn of War is excelent. And with 7 races its got by far the most diversity. Its also extreamly well balanced even while some of the races are so different.

Company of Heros is by far the best RTS out there. you can argue if you like, but I'm dead set on it. My only lament is two sides only (until the exp pack). But they make up for it in so many ways. The attention to minute tactical details is increadible, and little things like how well your men are covered, what angle you placed your machine gun nest at, did you use barbwire to funnle troops into the kill zone? did you place mines on the bridge? all these little things simply make it the best. Unit spamming is useless if you can't micromanage the units.

Starcraft2 has alot of potential... after all starcraft1 was one of the best RTS games ever. But, Warcraft3 was a let down. The single player was great, but the multiplayer was horrible. I just hope Scraft2 lives up to everyone else's expectations. I have high hopes but low expectations, I don't think it will be possible to live up to the legacy of the first starcraft.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

I never liked world of warcraft i always thought they sucked.
And wow is crap so over rated.

The problem with u pend imo is you expect "too" much, u say you don't but u must do if every new games is always "ok" or simply a let down.

I did read it world of warcraft IS warcraft.
The only reason its called "world of" is because its a MMORPG basicly a world online, But the game story is similer alliance vs hordes and so forth always the same always crap no matter what its packaged in no matter what the game name is.
I was simply saying WoW is over rated just like all Warcraft games.

err it rocks the first time you play the single player. then the game gets old and has zero replayability.

and Pheonix, your right, I do expect alot, I don't think I've ever said otherwise (maybe I did, but I'm also certain its context sensitive) But the "lot" I expect is very simple. I want them to TRY and be creative and do something new and different. I am so overwhelmingly tired of cookie cutter games. You would imagine with a 20 ilion dollar budget some of these games could be made halfway unique, or offer JUST a LITTE more than they give. Another game 5 years in the making, 3 factions, 12-18 units per faction, with mirrored tech trees. Wow, I just described 99% of every RTS on the shelf.

Doesn't it bother you that the industry turned to crap about 10 years ago? Every once in a blue moon, roughly once every 2 years, once a year if we're realy lucky, a realy great game comes out... Look at how much these guys get paid to make this crap... its just depressing.

Lets look at CnC3, or even at ZH. We take a look and say, "thats pretty good, I hope they have good mod support" Think about that... these guys getting paid 150K a year made a "pretty good game" but we're waiting for the unpaid amatures to make it better?!?! Please tell me you see something wrong with this.

I love playing games, but the truth is that the industry is on death's door. They've simply run out of ideas...

I have to agree, how many variations of rock/paper/scissors can you create? And why is it the modders think of cooler shit than the developers? I often wondered that myself. I doubt the industry is on deaths door though, as there will always be the next generation of RTS players.

The reason why mods are usaly beather is becose they are made with passion (aka love) unlike the big developers (EA im looking at you) who make games for money.

To be honest tho i think that the games designers could come up with some awesome stuff but its the boss and produces imo that cuts things down or holds them back by saying its too complex or will take too long to make.

Gaurdian GI
Battlefortress
Robot Tank
Robot command building.

Boris
Siege Chopper
Spyplane
Battle Bunker
Industrial Plant

4-5 things each side. ( to the main side)
more than the ZH expansion added to the sub generals, 1 upgrade, 1 tank for example, take laser gen...laser tank, laser defence.

also dont forget that in the origioanl ZH when generals had things added to them, they had things taken away from them (except nuke gen), e.g tank gen couldnt use inferno or nuke cannons if i remember rightly, and some USA generals couldnt use the paldin or tomahawk, so tbh the expansion didnt add that much, but considering that Yuris revenge has only 3 MAIN sides, (ignore the sub factions) they added quite a lot.

i dont think it matters how good the game is, its peoples *or at least my* nature to want MORE!

and i wanted to tip you about this game: Mount & Blade
its a game made by a Turkish couple and i don't think they would make any money if the game wasn't so very mod-able and heavily modded as it is. Try it out, its free untill you reach level 8 and its rather addictive too.

Sup Com is a game that i can't get over, to say that it is slow is an odd statement to me as if it were "CnC 3 fast" then the game would be simply impossible to manage. As for the learning curve pend was talking about, thats true, the games economy is different than all others. I was a big TA player so that did really slow me down. As for the nuke taking a long time to build, the Mavor for a single engineer to build takes 6 hours. But if you actually learn how to use upgrades for your commander and subcommanders and dozens of engineers things take fractions of their base times. A game can take from 15 to 120 minuets mainly based on the size of the map. I really can't find any beef with the game other than the recently added Mercy

As for CoH I Loved that game, but then i went back to Dawn of War and i like that game mores so and i can't figure out why. I think it may have to do with how much micromanagement is required to play the game.

I prefer sup com and is probably my favorite game
