No point whatsoever in having that campaign, as most of the units aren't available in the first place. Plus it would have to replace one of the existing campaigns afaik.

Yeah, I've been told that there are only two campaign slots (hardcoded), so a bonus "The Hobbit" campaign would be a waste. Really, the only part worth doing would be the Battle of Five Armies, and that could be done as a player made map. The RPG missions are always a little weird and usually require awkward deviations from the storyline in order to make them playable. (Gondor Soldiers in Shelob's Cave and so forth...).

It's nice to see that you keep this thread alive =)
We're gonna need a lot of ideas when we get to this point in production...

Preferably I'd like to have a (good) campaign that follows the fellowship's journey, but I realise that would be rather hard coded... so ideas are welcome for sure =)

Little late to agree, but that ^^^

I'd pay a gazilion $ for a decent movie-based campaign with a larger Helm's Deep, a proper Minas Tirith... Just look at EA's early alpha screens, and you'll get loads of ideas for a campaign! Remember the huge Rohirrim army charging the Mordor one in that trailer? Where closer then ever to accomplish that, especially with the new camera angle. And lastly, for me a good campaign is a scripted campaign, with lots of events and cut scenes. Kinda like the Helm's Deep - Last Hope mod/map.

Yeah, the campaign is going to be a MAJOR work load, when (if) we get to it... but for now, at least the normal campaign runs, however booring it may be :p

Lol yeah I didnt enjoy the campaign for 2nd battle for middle earth. But 1st game isn't too bad, although a few tweaks here and there would make it more fun. But Blendor's ideas were really amazing. I wouldn't mind that at all. But really I hope we can make the huge battle missions really fun.(Minas Tirith, Helm's deep, etc.)

But I was thinking if we do Moria, what could be a good way to input a good battle setting for Gandalf and Balrog? Maybe somehow we could show Gandy falling along with Balrog on the bridge? Although I know the coding for all this probably isn't easy.

maybe instead of the in-between animated videos, replace them with clips from the film, for example /|\ that scene from the film after you defeat the Balrog.

It was done for the Third Age that I got for my Ps2.. and for Bfme1 aswell? my memory fails me XD

Yeah... cool in theory but:
1) Would increase the weight of the mod quite noticably (like the BFME1 intro already has)...
2) Copyright and legal issues again...

Well this was weird. I was playing the evil campaign( the Grey Havens Level) and at the beginning after you capture the docks, I noticed there was some light to the very left like I had a unit there and here I was able to have the 3 Nazgul, you couldn't move them at first nor could you see them, but I was able to mount them on a fellbeast and use them in my attack force. Although they died before I could destroy the last fortress, the level was a lot easier since all the units were dead by time my force got across the river lol. And also they kill all ships in 1-2 hits. But I wonder why they let you use the Nazgul in the S.E.E. Version.

Because the Campaign is not re-coded, only fixed - as in running. It didn't even start before. Hence the topic. The campaign in SEE is still not a real part of the mod. We just got it running so far, but there's bound to be loads of bugs in it.

For Beta V or later, we'll TRY to make a special SEE campaign. None of us like the BFME2 campaign anyways... =p

Sweet  But anyway I can't play the campaign once I get to Mirkwood, just goes to Gamedat.error and the game closes, not that it matters to me anyway as I rather have a much better remade Campaign that is more enjoyable.

Are the extra S.E.E. units and such going to be in the campaign? A.K.A. is it going to be just like the fortress maps (i.e. minas tirith, helm's deep)?

Uhm, are we talking about the BFME2 campaign ^ or the future SEE campaign?

Well, for both, the SEE stuff is used :D

I'll definitely be giving suggestions about the story driven campaign. I want weathertop. It's simple, it's already a map, and we have aragorn, the hobbits and nazgul. What to do with them other than just fight, I don't know, but it's still really doable. :D

hmm...
I wouldn't use EA skirmishmaps...
Why?
They are good for skirmishgames, but not for campaign.
On the map weathertop you can easily get everywere and it's just a bit boring.
When you're playing a campaign, you won't want to see everywhere the same in a level. There must be some variety. Every place must look a bit different and there should be places, you will remember, after you played the map. (There could be many reason why you remember it. One point would be, that it looks exactly like it does in the film^^)
Of course I agree with you, that the map should be contained in the Campaign, but the skirmishmap is just not useable for this...(my point of view)

RPG style missions should really be avoided... so weathertop is a bad idea imho.

EA maps are great for campaign battles, but not for RPG style missions.

yes totally right .
for rpg u need linear maps no maps with large fields etc.
but you can make them rpg-playable: make woods and paths and the woods inpassable

Why not? The hero missions in BFMEI were a blast to play =). If/When we're going to implement a new campaign, I guess a big staff meeting will be held!

of course you can do it (not only you... me too :) )

But woods impassable?
Then you would need clear pathes without wood and sometimes that just looks ... not so good^^
Biut it would be one of many ways to make it playable as an RPG map.

But what do you have against this RPG Gollum?
In BfmE I there are many maps, where you can fight without armys and only some hereos (like Moria, Amon Hen...) I like them very much.

I would say, there should be some Maps, you're only playing with some heros.
Escaping from the Shire, Weathertop, Moria, Amon Hen, perhaps Old Forest and Cirith Ungol etc.
Otherwise the Campaign will always be similar. ;) (I'm playing both, Hero and Mass Unitmaps. Both can be funny, but when you fight to often with large armys, it is just boring. Sometimes I just have to kill large armys with one little Hero^^)
