The SEE Campaign will (if we succeed) be as close to the movies as possible. That means that ALL locations that appear in the movies will be in this campaign...

- Shire
- Bree
- Rivendell
- Caradhras
- Moria...
...and so on.

And aturally it will be primarily a campaign for Good :p
Evil campaign would be second and final step... but this is all MAAAJOOOR work, and will have to wait until the Skirmish mod is 110% complete so we know what units we have and so on...

And it's a matter of what maps to use, and what maps to create. For this, we're gonna need a REALLY skilled mapper, someone that can make maps like I made maps fr Settlers IV ;) I can't map for squat when it comes to WorldBuilder though and I wouldn't have the time either... :) So.. when and who will do all the needed maps remains to be seen. We have a mapper on the team, but he's inactive and I've yet to see his skills too...

So, the campaign is a rather faint matter atm, but will hopefully get there - say right after Beta V ;)

If you want to stick as close to the movies as possible, then what are you gonna do about enemies? Moria works because it is unique and there are lots of enemies. The other maps are you vs Nazguls, and Caradhras doesn't have any!

IMO, stick to the epic battles - or at least start with them and add the less critical maps afterwards.

And Aragorn94 is good for the scripted battles, but when you need new maps you'll need someone who knows how to texture and mould terrain.

TBH, some of the IP guys are more suited to this than I am, I've done bits of scripting, but not enough. My failed attempts at shellmaps would prove this easily ;)

And I do have BFME II, even brought it to uni just in case. But so far I've had little time to do my RA stuff, let alone play games.

Q: Can the BFME 1 campaign scripts be ported over (you can export and import scripts in WB)? Or is this bordering on legality problems again? If it's OK, it would make MT, HD, Edoras, AH, Moria etc much easier to do.

It should be the same legal thingy as with anything else. Sending an e-mail and waiting a while for a response should be sufficient. As far as i know, noone has received an S&D for this kind of thing, unless he was modding a blizzard game. ;)

@ mh_gollum:
Let us think so:
You could have scripted it exactly like Ea does is in BfmE I. But you didn't copy it, it was just by accident ;)

Not all missions would have to be 'fight' missions. I'm sure that, combined with good scripting skills and the awesome RJ-cam, you can set up nice puzzle-type missions which will give the campaign a tasty RPG-sauce...
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

I liked the battle for middle earth 1 campaign. Just needed the major battle levels to be more difficult. Like minas Tirith for example, it was just too easy to summon rohirrim and take out the catapults. But im sure we could figure out something.

You can't set up "puzzle" type missions. Units can do two things: move and attack. No other interaction is possible, so all that a "puzzle" type mission would involve is:
1. Leave the Shire 2. Go to Farmer Maggots Farm 3. Hide from Nazgul 4. Run to Buckleberry ferry.

You would end up just watching the heroes move about the map. And with the size of the maps on offer, the missions won't last long, even if you stuck in a load of cut-scenes/cinematics.

Moria, Fords of Isen, Amon Hen, Fangorn, Rohan Warg Attack, Helms Deep, Isengard, Osgilliath, Ithilien, Belfalas (vs Corsairs), Minas Tirith, Black Gate are (I think) the only movie-inspired maps on offer.

@ mh_gollum:

I made a map "Escape from the Shire"...
Til now there are no cut-scenes/cinematics and it last 15 Minutes.
You can manage many EA Maps in a shorter Time ( My Times in BfmE II campaign:
- build a camp 10-15 Minutes(I doesn't count this to "playing", cause it's aways the same in everey EA campaign...)
- fight and attack: 5-10 Minutes)

My missions were:
- Leave Hobbingen
(then you see Nazguls).
- Run to the ferry.
(nazgul S.E.Es you before the hobbits reach the ferry))

- Escape from the Nazguls for 5 Minutes (6 Nazgul are searching for you and you must escape; one Nazgul is guarding the ferry).

- When the timer has expired theNazgul guarding the ferry begins searching you too and you must reach the ferry.

- Go to farmer Maggots house.

- Reach the Old Forrest

I put Farmer Maggots house behind the ferry, because it just fits better :good: (was easier to map it this way... I made this Map months ago, I was very lazy at that time  )

This is really true, even the best scripting abilities won't make Caradhras a fun mission :)
