Which is why the current system is the best thing that can be done, in my opinion.

Not sure about Gandalf the black, there was a certain code of ethics regarding the Istari in which they could not use their powers to gain power as such, and Gandalf being an emissary for the free peoples as such would've have had alot more of strong adversity to using, hence the ringbearer idea. However the fact that he came from beyond the seas knowing of Saurons power yet being bound to a lesser physical form would hold to the argument of him having human temptations etc.... it's a confusing one...

What about Denethor? Seeing as it is all ready suggested that he had a palantir it is only right to assume then that he would willingly use the ring, and considering that the ring ultimately destroys its host through corrosion of morale etc then he would be an easy and ideal target.

It needs to be thought out as to who would be most susceptible to it, and who would most likely use it.

this is where being on the beta team gets confusing :umad:
im not sure how much this has been talked about in these forums, but i think the system that rob is putting in will satisfy most of this.

EDIT: found it! go back to page 3 (starting with robs post 3/4 of the way down) and read through page 5 or so. that is what rob is planning as far as i know it.

i think ring heros should be Mordor-Sauron MotE-Sauron Goblins-Thrangrodrim Isengard-Sarumon Elves-Galad Gondor-Gandalf Rohan-Tombombadil Dwarves-Thorin? Arnor-Isildor Angmar-Witch King(no fellbeast one on horse and foot)

I thought thgordrim was a place....
What did Tom Bombadil Have to do with Rohan, if anything he would go with Arnor becuase of the hobbits.
And, in the cases of Isengard and Angmar, I'm not a fan of having a current hero become the ring hero.

But, then again, there is a new system being put into place that is far better than a ring hero system.

It should effect War of the Ring Mode too. I think Goblins are my new favorite if we get this!

"Oh no, Aragorn, I think I see an advancing fortress!"

"I think you've been having one too many drinking games with Gimili, Legolas."

"Uh, no, Aragorn, the elf's right. It looks like Isengard."

LOL!!!
Minas Morgul moves in front of Minas Tirith! The last one standing wins! My votes are on Minas Morgul!

What will the ring heroes be in the game?
I've always thought it was stupid that Galadriel was the ringhero for menofthewest and dwarves
also sauron should be unique to mordor

My choices would be
a hero from the past;
Gondor Elendil/Isildur?.. can't really think of anyone
Rohan Eorl the Young
Dwarves Thorin
Elves GilGalad (legend)
Mordor Sauron
Isengard ?
Goblins Balrog
Angmar ?
Evil Men ?

On the other hand it would be really cool if when you obtained the one ring it would make one of your heroes really really powerful and give them a new brilliant power
Gondor Gandalf
Rohan ?
Dwarves Gimili( an insane Gimili would be cool)
Elves Galadriel/Elrond
Mordor Sauron
Isengard Saruman
Goblins Drogoth
Angmar Witch King
Evil Men ?

How about having the system summon legends from the 1st and 2nd ages? Their power should be upped also so that it would be nearly impossible to kill one (thus making it more important to take out the fortress before they are summoned).

My choices would be

Gondor: ArPharazon or Turin Turumbar
Rohan: ?
Dwarves: Azaghal or Durin I
Elves: Take your choice, there's a ton (Feaon, Fingon, Finarfin, Fingolfin, Turgon, etc...)
Mordor: Melkor (Morgoth)
Isengard: ?
Goblins: Gothmog (the original, Lord of the Balrogs)
Angmar: ?
Evil Men: ?

I'd actually like to see Rohan replaced with Men of Dale and Rohan reinserted back under Gondor.

Then again, I'm a big fan of the Silmarillion and this is just me wishing.

As has been said, there is already a new system in place, so, "Ring Heroes", if they maybe called such, are no longer what they used to be.
