Well, Val (If I may say so ^^)...

You could of course try to make an even more perfect Helms Deep Elf. I think this would be quite interesting. :good:

Well actually in my design the helmet was from CAH too but my Renx won't let me Export the Model (It's done from ages but can't export it) or if i export it after i bind it it won't work .My skin would make the difference but huh ... nevermind ... Good Skin & Model Eldarion :good:

I briefly considered using the CAH helmet, but I was driving the poly count up high enough with the pauldrons and vambraces as it was, so I decided against it. It would have meant another highly detailed piece to skin, too, and I didn't really want that...

Feth Eldarion, you're going to be better than me soon ;). If you're ever looking for a project to work on, just let me know, I have something you might be interested in ;)

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

I think the ply count shouldn't be a problem , As the CAH has far more polys then your Model and about Skinning instead of skinning on the model's head you skin the helmet from CAH on low-res .

Well, if you look earlier in the topic, you'll see that I'd already done a skin for EA's standard Elven Warrior model, and that skin forms the base of this one - it was just a matter of reskinning the CAH pauldrons and vambraces to match. Adding the helmet, though...that was the hardest part of the original skin to do, and it is the most detailed part of the costume overall. I just didn't want to go through the process of redoing that part, too...

As for the poly count, remember that the CAH is just a single unit running around, whereas with these guys, it's possible to have as many as 18 on screen per Elven player simultaneously - hence, you want to keep the poly count a bit lower ;) .

Nertea, your offer intrigues me, but for now, I think I have enough of my own projects to work on. And I think I should learn to map models before I go taking on anything you might have in mind - any tips in that direction? There don't seem to be any tutorials on "how to UVW map" on the site.

Ugh... I keep meaning to make a tutorial on that. :p Well, that's the second tutorial request I now need to work on. Looks like I'm going to be busy over Spring Break. :p

And why isn't that on the main site!? :crazed: :w00t:

Yeah, and it's probably harder to do in Renx too. Don't really know as I don't have 3ds max either. :p

It shouldn't make too much of a difference, you'll just lack the handy do everything tool.

Nice!
How about a tutorial for buildings? When I tried, it/I completely cocked it up :p

Hope you enjoy :p .

not that their backwards, but the design that EA created for them was not at all in resemblance to the ones that weta made for the movie. the design in your scratch skin is far more accurate then this one.

An excellent reference site for details on the elven armour:

I realized my mistake just after I posted :umad: . I'm willing to stick with them, though - they may not be 100% accurate, but they're at least 50%, so they'll do (for now). I may completely redo them eventually, but for now, I've just flipped them and added some extra detail to the skin. You can see the new version on Celeborn here:

Like I said, I may redo them eventually, but they'll do for the present.

Looks great, but your cloth work is still a little fuzzy for some reason.
