This is nothing big, but I need to have a goal for my mod. First of all this is going to be necromancer-ish, so I want to have something undead or resurrected in there.

Basic structure will be a walled fortress. Stuctures will look Mordor-ish but darker and eiree looking.
Dol Guldor orcs will be basic infantry, and they will have upgrades and cost money to train. They will be somewhat stronger than the Mordor orcs. Also there will be archers, and pikemen. They will be able to train Olog-hai, which are a smarter type of troll, with some different weaponry and abilities, not like mountain trolls. They will be more like the troll seen in ROTK which faced off with Aragorn at the Black Gate. They will have some seige equipment such as ladders and battering rams. Olog-hai will function as a seige weapons as well by being able to pick up rocks and tear pieces of buildings and throw them.

And now for something necromanced. Perhaps a power that recalls units that you have lost. Or a summon skeleton warrior. And I need something else. Perhaps were-wolves that are wolves with evil spirits and look like a man-wolf rather than something that transforms. Also, in the books, Dol Guldor produced many unwholesome wood creatures. Spiders will definitely be used but they will be empowered by the Nazgul that will be captain there. Give me some ideas here.

Also there are powers to be considered. I will give them devestation coz it is so suitable. Tainted land for all evil teams, although I might make a tainted wood instead. Summon balrog is a possibility. A darkness power that is very unwholesome and eiree looking. A summon power for warg riders or goblins. A ressurection power or summon undead power. Need more unique ideas.

And then there is heroes. A nazgul will be the captain. It needs an orc leader. Needs a type of shaman unit, like a unit that can heal friendly troops and possess enemy units somehow like the wormtongue ability. A troll hero or otherwise make drummer trolls.

Ideas and comments appreciated in all areas.

I like it :cool2:

About the power though,I don't think summon Balrog would be a good idea, as the balrog is totally unrelated.

How about(if you dont use the ressurection power)Summon Wolf Sauron

As Sauron did do battle against(can't remember) in the form of wolf sauron

Captain Beremir made a nice Dol Guldor list. Maybe you can apply that to the game? I do not know if you like using others models, but Ithron, and Matias made some sweet Dol Guldor models. I hope this faction is added? Is it for BFME2 or ROTWK??

It is for BFME1. I am working on a mod small mod with 2 factions btw. Dol Guldor and Lorien. 2 enemies, makes it easier to make for a beginner, and means I can focus my efforts into making a better quality mod rather than a totally blown out of proportion super mod.

@ Dain I will only be making them 1 at a time. So it should be just as well-developed if it goes right.

@ UltimateRanger The Balrog isnt related to the other evil factions either but it still works well as a superweapon, and unless there is another totally awesome superpower idea i think i will stick with it.

The wolf Sauron isnt a good idea, because for one Sauron's wolf form was destroyed way too long ago to be relevant to LOTR in the 3rd age. Also I am already thinking about using were-wolves in the faction so it would go well.

Thanks everyone for the complements but I still need some ideas for necromanced units, or animated objects. Someone I know has come up with the idea of an animated metal construct that was made in Dol Guldor by Sauron necromancing spirits of dead servants of Morgoth. I think that whoever came up with this was thinking along the right lines. Something animated would work well, but what? Animated Rock creatures? Trees wouldnt work coz that is a lame copy of the ents. Animated water is done by the elves of Rivendell. Earth is what i want for something undead. I think I will make a Stone Monster. Would be happy to have ideas as to the design of it.

Another idea: Perhaps some creature like a resurrected warg possessed with an evil spirit and with armor plating attached to it that it has the ability to animate would work.

Also here is something new. A structure that trains the shaman unit i mentioned earlier. The shaman has the ability to control a battalion of enemy units. The units can be used to fight, can be slaughtered for resources, OR my own idea, can be sent back to this structure and are turned into a special unit such as an enhanced corrupted human or an undead wraith type battalion. The elves wont be able to be controlled as they were once deceived by Sauron and after that never would listen to him again. But other units, excluding heroes could be transformed this way. Picture capturing a battalion of knights, send them back to your structure, and presto! You now have a special forces battalion of black knights that dominate all other cavalry. They can be upgraded too, but they take up some command points also. Comments please!

Could work well

@UltimateRanger You can only control one battalion at a time with each shaman. This makes it more balanced.

Although almost any unit (except elves) can be controlled by the shaman, only humans can be corrupted into the just named, Black Knights. Also, if anyone can translate that into Sindarin, I would appreciate it very much. These Knights are as good as Knights of Gondor although Gondor has better weaponry and armor. Black Knights can be dismounted which gives them more flexibility and makes it worth the trouble of capturing enemy units. I have yet to learn if this concept of transforming units can be done without problems, so if anyone has any experience with this, please let me know.

When orcs or uruks or other units are captured, they can only be used to fight or be slaughtered. Killing the shaman controlling the unit will free the unit from enemy control and will fight for you again.

@Guess Who There will be a power of darkness but it will have actual darkness, but a different color than Mordor. It has to have a way of stopping freezing rain or Mordor darkness in Multiplayer otherwise you will be obliterated easily.

Also, more concepts of my own for Dol Guldor: The factions style of play. It will be different than the other teams: when enemy battalions are killed they leave behind loot.

When your battalion picks up the loot, it receives a special nonpurchaseable upgrade. Such as better swords or shields or special arrowheads or special weapons like a spikey club for Olog-hai. If a battalion picks up a second bunch of loot, it receives a second level upgrade like helmets and armor plating. Third pile, maybe a special ability or special attack move.

If a unit cannot receive any more loot-upgrades then it is used for resources. A hero might receive a special ability if it gets loot. Like for example it finds a powerful trinket in the loot which grants it the ability to recover more quickly, or a sword that gives enemies wounds that take damage over time.

Loot will have to come from specific units such as cavalry or heroes or seige weapons or monsters so as to prevent a player from gaining so many abilities and ups that it can easily crush 3 other players without any real skills.

Also there will be no guarantee of loot with every lootable unit killed. And although this is a very fun and useful feature, it doesnt necessarily give you assurance of doing any better in battle even in the instance of a battilion of orcs with looted blades fighting a battalion of plain soldiers. All it will take is a good micro or a heal ability or even a small leadership bonus to beat the orcs with loot blades. A battalion of orcs that had gained loot blades + loot armor + loot shields would be an even match for Gondor soldiers with heal power and leadership bonus. The real purpose of the loot is to be cumulative upgrades that may even the odds in a hard battle and if you are outnumbered, and pick up a bit of loot here and there in battle, you may gain momentum enough to turn the tide.

If anything here is not possible please let me know as i am not totally sure of the games boundaries in these areas. I know that looting was available for the GLA in Generals which ran off the SAGE engine which BfME uses.

Update: Elves can be controlled by shamans I say or else it would be unbalanced. Elves will not be courruptible though.

Update:
Dol Guldor Powers: The multiplayer list
Tainted Wood--1PP. Creates a dark fur wood that gives your troops a 40% armor bonus
Will of Sauron--1PP. Gives the selected units an attack bonus and a speed bonus much like War Chant
Spies of Sauron--2PP. Send spies to scout area out. Probably Crebain or something
Moria Allies--3PP. Summon 5 battalions of goblin warriors and a goblin cheiftain. 3 Swordsman and 2 archer battalions. These arent the shrimpy goblins, they are the big ones like the Goblin King's guard
Pillaging--4PP. Earn resources per kill
Darkness--XPP. Same as Mordor darkness but different color and maybe different bonus.
Summon Nazgul--6PP. Summon 2 Nazgul on Fell Beasts.
Summon Balrog--10PP. I Think that the Balrog will remain the Super Power of all the Evil teams

Please people! I need some help with UNDEAD UNITS! I need more than what I already came up with, which are:

1) Corrupted human wraiths on horses(Black Knights)
2) Possessed wolves with animated armor plating
3) The Animated Stone Monster

I think that 2) would be much cooler if it was a skeleton of a warg with armor plating on it, with glowing eyes, and metal claws and fangs. That would indeed be an awesome unit.

Okay, Nazgul are RINGwraiths, something a little different than my black knights.

And as for my necromanced stone monster:
1) Tell me specifically whats wrong with it
2) Tell me what YOU would do in my position
3) Become a registered member at T3A

just a few thoughts:
the possessed wolves sound pretty good
love the idea of special stuff left behind when enemies are killed--very creative
one question about the stone monster.you probably dont have any idea, but what exactly will it look like?are you gonna go along the lines of a troll-type unit with a different look?

I have absolutely no idea! Thats the fun of this topic. We have to come up with this as we go. But I would honestly like to drop the stone monster and come up with something more evil and deadlike than that. But at the moment I have nothing.

So. Nex on the stone monster.

I'd say drop the "animated" stuff, and replace it with things that are Tolkein, such as:
-Werewolves. Mentioned in the Silmarillion. Fast, high-attack low defence stealthed unit. Maybe a toggle between man and wolf form.
-Vampires. Mentioned in the Silmarillion. Chicks with wings. Terror-causing airborne support unit.
-Olog-hai. Mentioned in RotK and the Appendices. Basically, the "shock-trooper" Trolls seen at Minas Tirith, with shields.
-Orcs of Dul Guldor. Kind of a "duh." High-defence and speed, but low attack; spammable.
-Uruks of Dul Guldor. See above. Elite units, maybe?
-Main Hero: Khamul the Easterling. It says in Unfinished Tales (?) that he was the second-most competent Nazgul, and that he took command of Dul Guldor upon Sauron's flight.
-Spiders of Mirkwood. Mentioned in The Hobbit. Cavalry unit (not ridden, just...spiders). Stealthed when in trees and not attacking.
---
That's all I've got, good luck with your mod.
Cheers,
-mike
