What about adding a new unit which attacks the native creatures and gets resources for the meat, like laborers or something?

Perhaps Mordor can hunt wild animals like Lorien does(oops let one slip there!)

Your adding Lorien to counter Dol Guldor...? Before you've started?

I have mentioned before that I am working on a Lorien faction. I will make one first and then after I am satisifed with it, I will do the other. Not both at once that would be too much work.

This is an idea thread Dain, I never said I was starting on Dol Guldor yet. The purpose of this thread is to make ideas. That is why I posted in the drawing board. I also am still learning some things about basic modding, so as I said before dont expect anything too soon. At the moment I am starting in a prep school which is taking a lot of my time so no progress at the moment. At the moment I have put my efforts into Lorien. So yes I have done somthing. No not in Dol Guldor.

If you do Lorien first, you could use the structure models already ingame

How 'bout "Buffy" isn't a vampire, She's a Lorien hero that does super-uber damage against vampires and fights with a stake.

I wouldn't suggest having an Elf fight with a stake, though..maybe a more sabre-like Elven blade?

Hello, about the evil ents and all, Why not make an a special "Forest" or "Marsh" troll or perhaps a special Dol-Guldar Olog-hai?
When Ents get more "Treeish" they do get slower, as their roots or "feet" get more attached to the ground. You know how sometimes Treebeard will drift off... well, the more he spends time being slow, and gets to attached to the ground and kinda loses thought for a small while...

And Guess Who, If the units that collect meat from killing lil' beasties and it was for Dol-Guldar it would be... A!
If the units that collect meat from killing lil' beasties and it was for Lorien it would be... B!

A) Orc Hunters, Goblin Skirmishers, Retrieval Spiders, Spectral Beast-trackers

B) Galadrim Skirmishers, Hunters of the Golden Wood, Sindarin Hunting dogs, Galadriel's Huntsmen

TO CREATE A DRACOLICH:

Step 1: Only a evil dragon (In LOTR, which isn't evil?) and a very powerful Sorcerer (*Cough*... Necromancer!...*cough*) or wizard can create a Dracolich. The dragon & the spell-caster must be in agreement that the Transformation will take place.

Step 2: Once the agreement is reached, the spellcaster concocts a special beverage called the Dracolich Brew.

Step 3: The evil dragon must drink the lethal concoction.

Step 4: The Dracolich Brew poisons and kills the evil dragon, releasing its Spirit/ Soul.

Step 5: Upon the Spirit's release, it transports itself into a special container (that was chosen ahead of time) called the "Phylactery."

Step 6: The Spirit can now transport itself into the corpse of another dragon- even its old form. It can also transfer into any dead lizard-like creature.

Step 7: The final step is for the corpse to accept the Spirit. Once it has, the Dracolich Transformation is complete.

:p CONGRATULATIONS, YOU MADE AN UNDEAD DRAGON! ;)

But why would you need an undead dragon when you can also use when that's alive? :p

Well, I believe Gandalf designed the whole thing to go down in the best way possible. Smaug and Sauron (The Necromancer) would have worked together, so he set it up so the White Council attacked Dol Guldur the same time the Dwarves and Bilbo got to the Lonely Mountain. This means that Sauron would likely have used Smaug for his own purposes if he could, so the idea of Dragons for Dol Guldur is lore supported.

I'm not sure about Undead Dragons being lore supported, though. I'm not sure exactly why he was called the Necromancer, but perhaps that term has been twisted for RPGs and other things since the hobbit was written (it was published back in the 30s.) Not sure exactly why they called him that, and I don't know if Tolkien ever explained it, really. It was just their name for him before confirming it was Sauron.

Check this out: http://tolkiengatewa...the_Necromancer

This stuff is the best lore support for an undead faction.

Following this ideas of raising the dead around Dol Guldur, he could raise Smaug from the lake as an undead dragon... However, either he didn't have that ability, or the white council drove him out before he could, or else he chose not to. Of course, it didn't happen, but in the idea of an undead dol guldur faction which doesn't fit the story, but remains "possible" according to the lore (if the White Council didn't drive out Sauron so soon,) then an undead Smaug, risen by Sauron from the lake, would be an excellent feature.
