So, can anyone help an ex-Paladin as to a good entrance, please?

I actually think it'd be cool for your character to be hidden among the army of Paladins heading our way, revealing herself (ie, assassinating some Paladin leaders) in the middle of the battle.

But that's just me :cool2:

I was thinking of a more brutal entrance than that.

More brutal then infiltrating your enemies then murdering them in cold blood right before their comrades eyes?

Something involving splitting a head--With a seax. Anyways, if anyone feels like there could be a better entrance for me, then direct me, please?

I got nothing. I like Mike's idea. And it'll give us a brief view of the approaching enemy, too, so it's all good. Although one question: in the midst of battle, even if you do go and kill your leaders, we'd probably just kill you, what with being dressed as a Paladin an' everything. Battle doesn't leave a lot of time for detailed questioning. Solutions, fellows?

Oh, by the way, Dark Warden has PMd me to say he won't be carrying on here. Surprise surprise. :cool2: So the Minotaur are all yours again, Mike.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

He wasn't that active anyways, so that's no real shame, right?

Actually, I was thinking about it...hiding amongst the paladins would make my character obvious--She doesn't wear armour.

Unless the paladins don tattered black overcoats?

Nope. They're all about the brilliant white cloaks and well-polished silver armour. If they turn up on a sunny day they'll probably be blinding to look at.

And no, I don't think we'll miss Dark Warden too much. If anyone wants Cassius, help yourself.

Then yeah, I'm going to have to find another entrance. A tattered black anything among walking mirrors would kinda...stand out better than a sore thumb.

Why not have your character kill a Paladin, take his gear, and wear it over/with her normal clothes? Then reveal herself at a critical moment in the battle.

That said, if you really want her to survive that, I suggest she polish up her German :p

As interesting as hiding amongst the enemy might be...Vort's got a point:

even if you do go and kill your leaders, we'd probably just kill you, what with being dressed as a Paladin an' everything

And, revealing myself at a critical moment is hard when I'm dead, and I'm also in Paladin armour. I wouldn't be identifiable as a friend.

So shed the armour and make it obvious to us that you're a friend, not a foe.

Or better yet, can you think of some way to connect this character to Vithar? Like, them having been friends at some point in the past or such.

I was considering that route at some point as an explanation of the order that got her kicked out.

However, there is no way for your characters to trust someone dressed like a paladin, who happens to mention an old friend.

And why not?
You're the one saying its impossible, not us :p

also, your person is psychic, just have them psychically communicate that they are a good guy. Also, seen as your person is psychic you can have them standing in their black cloths but make them seem 'unremarkable' (as in, no body seems to pay any attention to your different cloths because you are manipulating their mind), or create the illusion in their heads that you are dressed as one of them.

Also, the gnomes are psychic's themselves, maybe you are already in cohoots with them? You could say that they already got your character to act as a spy for them. Having a similar gift means you could talk telepathically with them, and being human makes it easy for you to infiltrate the human paladins, where as for one of their own gnomes to do it would be much harder.

That resolves any issues of being mistaken for the enemy, as the gnomes would say you are on our team, and let us know to trust you and not to attack you.

Ok, one, she is not that psychically adept to influence any amount of people like that. I can sense op in that.

However, I think the idea with me being on the side of the Gnomes is a pretty good idea...In fact...I might use that one.

why, if I may ask? Varin is able to put illusions in the minds of others.

But Varin is a genuine illusionist. That's what the magic of the Umbar is all about. Vithar's character is a turned Paladin with some small psychic ability. Illusions are an entirely dissimilar concept.

Astariel just messes with peoples' minds. :p

Calculus finals are at the end of this week, so I will be doing a great deal more studying and a great deal less hanging around here. I'll still drop by from time to time, as permitted by my schedule. Don't go too far without me... :p

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

I had the meaning of life in my signature, but it exceeded the character limit.

Entirely dissimilar? The ability to manipulate peoples minds into thinking they are seeing things and the ability to manipulate peoples minds in general sound very similar to me. One is just part of the other, from the sounds of it.

But whatever, not that it matters either way. Also, you said Umbar magic was black magic, and you said black magic was fire. So change our mind did we? :p
Not that its a bad thing, as fire is more elemental in my view, black magic should be more to do with darkness then something bright and natural like fire.

Anyway, i'm sure being schooled in the arcane they would learn a number of different forms of 'dark' magic.
