Thanks, just gotta get those powers sorted out now and the official hero list for the republic should be done, of course there will be additions from the senate but only those concerned with the war

Just an Idea can you make Obi-Wan and Windu have more of a General Type of look? I know it is kind of like the Clone Wars tv show but between the time periods you are working with, that was the actual Clone Wars. I have Star Wars Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels and they looked more like war generals imho I think that it would look "Flashy" :p . (Imagine Obi-Wan and Windu leading an Army with battle armor like the tv show and the opposing army runs "into" I guess yours and the Jedi+Sith fighting in the front lines.. It would look pretty cool). I dont care if it is implemented but I think it would look good.
Wait... what?

While I think we would be looking at the tv show for some inspiration, the thought of jedi in armor always seemed a bit distant from their original purpose, they were diplomats and peacekeepers first, warriors second, I think the tv show took a broad license with the warrior side, while I was always more in tune with their spiritual/ritualistic kinda look, I think it's more ominous that a jedi wearing robes would come into the battlefield, and when the jedi do go to war in the movies they are still dressed traditionally. The armor thing just doesn't go with my idea of them, when I think of a jedi, I think of long, almost monastic robes not armor. And I think in cases like this, where possible we should draw our main inspiration from the movies rather than expansions of. Saying that's, it's not a no to that idea, it's just a not at the moment.

Ok no pressure! :p Another idea remember in the Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan had that robe (whats the word revealed I guess), he didnt have the brown robe on (until he took it off ofcourse). I dont want to pressure anybody but these are ideas that I dont care are rejected.

Well I do like the idea, keep it in mind for later, once we have the basics laid down we can play around with extras, started making the Republic Acclamator today, or atleast that's what it's called to my knowledge, relatively easy to make considering it's just made up of angular shapes, this model will be used for space battles, once I have it mapped and get a genius skinner to do the skinning then it'll go ingame. What I'm thinking of doing with this is having it as a 25PP whereby it comes in over the battlefield similar to the Dragon strike and barrage the battle field with laser fire basically scorching everything as it goes, Yoda_ originally came up with the idea but with gunships, I wanted to use the gunships in game as a mode of transport, this way it'll appear more epic when you have this huge ship fly over, you will not be able to control it unless in space mode. Currently it comes in at just over 2000polys but I expect that to climb to around 3000 once I've got the engines done.

For the Jedi-armour issue, maybe it could be an individual hero upgrade or used to fill up the faction powers?

And when you get started on the CIS hero list, I've got some CRAZY ideas for Durge and some of their 'powers' :p

EDIT: Nice Acclamator btw  if you want, give Phoenix Rising's mod here on Revora a look. Some amazing stuff going on in that neck of the woods.

Actually, that's not an Acclamator, it's a Venator class Star Destroyer.

Acclamator

Venator ((My favorite Star Wars capital ship. No idea why.)

Well this is about as far as I've gone, just texture the upper hull, the pics that I have, have those two yellow dotty things on the hull, not sure what they are for but put them anyway, it'll probably need a more expert eye to do the texturing at some stage but this will do for now, unless someone wants to have a go at it.

Is it possible to have ships (with eagle locomotors) actually firing (archer properties)? I presume so, would look awesome ;)

I would think so, what I was thinking of doing was making the guns a separate object and have them appear on passenger bones, allow them individual movement, it would also solve the problem of weapons and weaponsets for the unit, I can create a custom locomotor anyway, that's not hard, and changing the weaponset should take care of the rest so that the ship stops at a certain distance before taking aim and firing. Either that or when I create the map set the object to stay at a new height, keep the default archer weaponset, either way there are definite ways around it. What we will be doing is disabling terrain render and most likely make a 360 degree skybox with a star field...

Is it possible to make sabers clash like in the movies (that wouldnt be bad)? Could you make it possible to physically hit people while having a lightsaber? Also making the attack speed faster would make it more "realistic".

The venator should probably be longer or it'll look a bit toyish.

It would be cool to have a Protoss Carrier-like unit (anybody played starcraft?) where smaller ships which acquire enemies not from player. Bad thing is it can't be done with the passenger seats and all :S

Space battles are waaaay in the future.

One thing that could be doen with the protoss carrier is just adapting the ranger melee thing to ships. When an enemy gets too close, a starfighter screen flies around and attacks it.

Well not so far away I'd say, space maps are going to be alot easier to do than we initially thought. Though for now, really I just want to have this ship done so that I can put it in the shell map hovering over Geonosis with battalions of troops beneath all neatly lined up with gunships etc... to give the feeling of preparation for war. I have to find a tutorial on doing lights and glows etc but I reckon it's the same as doing lightsabers with additive textures and sorting levels.

I would say the front should be flat rather than sharp, and the yellow circles with the red outlines (I presume that's what the "yellow dotty things" are) are the heraldic symbol of Obi-Wan and Anakin.

The symbol is for the Open Circle Armada iirc, which Obi and Anakin command.

You may want to grab this for venstar reference, it's reasonably accurate... http://www.3dmai.com/venator.html

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.
