I had an exam today in a subject I was already reasonably sure I was going to fail. Now that the exam has come and gone, I'm absolutely certain I'm going to fail. Good news is, it's only one module out of 6 for the year, so it's not too bad. Still....

I vent that in five minutes, (right now by the time I finish typing this post) I have to depart from my humble abode to partake in the vile event known as the Sports Awards for varsity and junior-varsity teams at my school. This translates to about five minutes of interesting speeches from the captains of the spring track team, followed by about an hour of screaming, simpering, over-emotional senior girls going on and on about how amazing their respective teams were and how much they'll miss all their friends when the go off to collage. In addition, they find it necessary to comment about every damn member of whatever team team for at least a full minute. At least a handful of them are hot, if that's any consolation for myself, however slight.

I've already missed 4 out of six so far. The team captains berate me for it. Anyways, that was a grueling three and-a-half hours of sitting in the sweltering heat while swarmed by bugs. I passed my time by playing sonic on the GameBoy Advanced.

My mother and grandmother were talking about the shocking tragedy in Cumbria. After a conversation lasting about 5 or 10 minutes, without missing a beat, and apparently in mid-flow about discussing the "unbearable loss of all the victims' relatives", my grandmother remarks what a lovely bracelet my mother is wearing. They then proceed to talk about jewellery.
Oh yes, they also said how they didn't think the lemon tart was as delicious as the waitress made out, but they still told her it was 'divine'.
How phoney!

...

I hate the middle-classes. So much.

Most of us here are middle-class, Pupp. Get used to it.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

I don't see what this has to do with middle-class. Sounds like general human apathy and idiocy to me. Happens everywhere in society.

The worker's class is the king of the social stratification. It's the A horizon and beyond. The upper class is the Bw horizon though... he he he... Geology burn...

Neh... I'm considered the lowest form of life in your class system. Then again... so was Gandhi, so I'll gladly hold poverty as a trophy.

... the shocking tragedy in Cumbria.

I mean televised US news, not local stuff. The news paper industry is so desperate to fill the pages sometimes, they'd put Garry Colman's corpse teeth on the front page to cover space, so you bet they'd fill the sheets with the biggest news of greatest importance they can find. Your local and federal news on the other hand won't cover anything important. As a matter of pure fact, Tiger Woods was, yet again, on CNN yesterday... CNN... I'm still venting, by the way. I say find a rouge radio host who has a big mouth to get your news.

Oh... well I never bother watching televised news. I prefer the old-fashioned reading method. :)

Strange... every time one of the people I share my apartment with comes home and logs onto our internet, it slows down immensely for everyone else. He's kind of an asshole and very computer savvy, and I'm getting a little paranoid. He claims he's not downloading anything, but when I ask him about why everyone else's internet slows down so much when he gets on, he remains silent. It pisses me off. I don't suppose anybody knows anything about the possibility of, well, configuring the router so that it gives you priority or something, because I have the strange idea that he might be redirecting most of our bandwidth to himself or something. Any ideas?

Hit him in the face with a framing hammer. If he knows how to rule the cyber-universe, bring him the pain in the real one instead.

Seriously though, if it's really as big of a problem as you believe then have your fellow flatmates gather up and force him to explain himself with threat of expulsion from the apartment. If he's who I think he is, then he'll hardly be up to the task of his namesake to take you all on

I've heard of people doing that before, though I have no idea how.
You should do some googling and see what comes up.
