British? That song was played non-stop over here too.

OK, European, maybe. Either way, I kinda miss the 90s sometimes. The golden age of pop, which happened to coincide with a time in my life when I actually liked it.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

I don't usually listen to indie stuff much, but lately I've been growing rather fond of some the bands that are considered among them. This being a fine example. The chorus especially blows me away.

I like this song. A lot. It's my favourite from the album Heathen. It's simply Bowie's amazing vocals with a minimalist/ambient background. Understated and restrained, but beautiful.

Saw Thron Legacy yesterday, I have to say the music really digs into my spiritual side. Going to use this soundtrack for some cyberpunk RPG someday.

Yes, very awesome. But if you post Requiem for a Dream, I will actually hunt you down and rip out your windpipe for you. Purely because, awesome as it is, it's so overdone. :p

Yeah, used that in one too many student movies. The trailer-song from inception is the new one there though, although its still quite good imo

This makes an improbably epic song.

This song, beautiful though it is, fills me with a strong sense of loss. And yet, despite that it makes my world feel half-empty, I can't help but listen to it.

Don't tell me I'm the only one here who listens to trance.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

hmm, have to check out Transatlantic. Since Portnoy left DT I have to see what happens with him forward and his other projects.

I was planning to start a new thread for this, but its a music video and its somewhat awesome. It is a perfect example of Mood Dissonance and... well I'll just let you figure out the rest yourself. It certainly gave me a knot in the stomach.

The reason I wanted to show it also is because i personally know the actress in it from my studies, so its cool to see that she has gotten some awesome roles, even though this one didn't have too much of a happy ending.

Edit: more in the spirit of the thread, the new In flames album is quite good, here's one which i love the intro on:

That's some old stuff right there. Never really got into a lot of the older rock, but it certainly has its gems.

Devin Townsend just released two albums in his Devin Townsend Project. I've only had time to listen to Deconstruction once, which is a extremely chaotic album by far(the concept at one point is some guy travelling to hell to meet the devil, which offers him a cheeseburger that will give him full knowledge and understanding of the universe, but since he is a vegetarian he can't eat the cheeseburger and the journey has been wasted :thumbsupsmiley:). But I do love this first song, it really descends into the darkness beautifully at the end there.

I really don't understand this massive love affair the rock world has with Devin Townsend. He's good, sure, but people act like he's the best thing since steak and blowjobs. Does anyone have a serious explanation for this that doesn't devolve into meaningless fanboy drivel? That was all I got last time I tried to work it out.
