We all know that Rob didn't make the mod entirely on his own. Someone from his team have to take over if the mod is to survive at all actually.

Nobody takes over someones personal work unless the owner gives permission.
Like if you were away and a friend who is looking after your property takes out your car and burns the clutch right up... he wouldn't he happy...
So the status will probably be like this until he get's back, if he does.

I believe it's pretty obvious that Rob ain't coming back. Back in 2010 when someone managed to contact him, the question should have been made on the spot. This comes off as sounding rather arrogant, I know, but please try to look at my point from a rational point of view. If you allow someone to take over with the condition that the offshoot stops its development immediately (or Revora just stops supporting it) if Rob returns and says no, the worst that can happen is someone developing the mod for a while and his/her work becoming invalid and having to be thrown down the drain. Even then, the developer will have learned something about BFME modding. At the best, you will have gifted everyone with great joy.
I have been lending an eye on this forum every once in a while for the past 4 years, hoping the mod would eventually find its rebirth. I guess it hasn't mostly due to the protectionist politics of Revora. I don't think they're wrong, but on this regard they're certainly a little bit exaggerated and not very pragmatic. I seriously doubt Rob is going to be mad or depressed for life if he finds out the BFME II mod he used to develop has been edited by someone else.
P.S. — Knowing him, I think he'll pick off from where the developer left off and eventually get it back on the road he invisioned in case he doesn't like the way this or the other thing were taken. Even then, he seemed liberal enough to not get worked up over anything.
P.P.S. — Personally, I will be finishing high school this year and starting on university in a few months. Everyone has been telling me that to succeed in university you pretty much have to forget about the concept of time. I recently played the game all the way up to Rivendell (where the game crashes) and I can't stop feeling sorrow to know I'll never play the real BFME II that I invisioned this game and this mod to be.

Also no-one has permission from Rob.
How would you like it if the mod you had worked on for years was taken over without permission, and without even being informed about it?

Yes it would, it takes a great deal of time to fix bugs.

But nobody has been able to get in contact to ask him or not. I say it should be continued and if he comes back and says to not then it will stop. He hasn't said no to using it and he might not come back to.
