Even if it's just a visual change, the Hoplites should advance to Linothorax armour... this is an interesting article that summarizes it up quite well.
Anyway - you guys should have a lot of fun with Greek arms and armour. Here's a great example of three sword, in order from top to bottom: a kopis, a non-Spartan xiphos, and a Spartan xiphos. The Spartans used a much smaller xiphos because it was easier maneuver in the crash of melee combat between two phalanxes, while the rest of Greece (notably Athens) used the longer variant. On that note, the Atheniens actually appeared to have preferred the kopis to the xiphos - most contemporary art shows their Hoplites as using far more prominently than the xiphos. Just an interesting aside

What I mean is, you have your work cut out for you, I know I couldn't skin that.
So no matter what upgrades there are, I'm sure we'll have a Linothorax armor upgrade of some kind.

Also, i thought Sparta mostly used the lambda on their shields, so a few of those too would look good. And this might give you a few ideas for Athenian shields.
A side question for mike/anyone else: did men typically have beards and long hair back then? I think i've read somewhere that it wasn't until Alexander the Great that men started shaving, and that before then, men usually grew their hair long as a sign of strength/vitality. Either way, some beards would probably be nice for some randomised skins and stuff.

Guys, I'm having some real-life stuff going on right now, I'll be on the forums but I can't really do anything hardcore for this atm... Actually, I'm not sure all I can do anyway. If I could be the "Balance Designer" that would be good. But it's not quite necessary beyond the conceptual level at this time.
