I'd rather see horde sizes or 12 or 15 than 20. Men hordes in BFME have 15 I believe and orcs are the only ones with 20. I think 20 is a little much and would mean less skill cap in micro and macro. 15 is probably perfect.

The screenshots of the Hoplites have 15, so look at them for a reference.

I guess it depends on how many total you can get. What will the CP be like, how much at maximum and how much for each horde? How many individual units are reasonable to have at a maxed out army, based on history and of course how much lag there is. (Pathing adds more lag based on number of hordes not actual units so that shouldn't matter that much.)

I think 12 per horde might be better (2x6) and then you can get more total hordes, as long as there aren't too many banners.

so, you want two lines? I disagree. You see, the phalanx was usually 8 to 20 lines in depth. This was so the men in the back could defend the formost lines from projectiles by holding their spears in an angle above the heads of the men in front of them. Two lines, therefore, would not look like a phalanx.
Okay, I will admit that 8 of 20 lines won't be possible, but the formation that Kwen showed us in his screenshot looks great. 3x5 is a great formation, since it is wide and deep.
If the above post offended you in any way,
please take note that, until further notice, I don't care, so get lost.

Anyway, banner carriers change position? Maybe in BFME2, which is what this mod will likely be on...
But I don't think banner carriers ever change position in BFME1, maybe that's why i'm confused. My mistake.

No they don't change positions, ever. That's what I said.

A banner carrier always has a reserved spot in a horde.
Having him on the side can be okay though, without gaps, because he can simply use one position left from the most prioritised soldier, while the rest of the soldiers go to the right.

Let see... In a horde, the positions for it's members on each line is written with an x and y value. Now, the order it determines the priority, so the first one will always have a unit in that position.
Now, in BFME, normally that position is in the middle front row of the horde. However, if we make it the one on the front, but to the, say, left side, and then do the rest of the horde, it will look just like a normal horde.
Now, if we go a step further to the left, where nobody is, because the priority soldier is the furthest left you can get, we can place the banner carrier. That way the banner carrier will always stand next to another soldier, and leaves no gaps.

I know I confused the hell out of you, because I got confused myself when I read my post :p

Indeed, we can make the front left the highest priority and put the banner next to it.

The reason I said 12 is so that more total hordes can be in existence at once, and thus, more skill can be used. But 15 is fine as well.

Anyways, I was thinking infantry members could be 2 CP and workers could be 1, siege weapons and ships (and I guess Hero) like 25 or something. Then, with 30 CP hordes how high can we make the max CP and not cause lag? The bigger the better I'd say.

As far as the cavalry scout goes, would that just be like a 5 unit horde like BFME1 cavalry? Or even just a single unit? No banner carrier.

I say single unit, to help discourage fighting with them, or else people will just run around with them killing settlements.

Most definitely, we will need to do everything we can to discourage cavalry from being used as a viable means of combat.

Hey guys I got an Idea for resource collecting. It works like a farm, the building would be called "Treasury" it produces money by collecting taxes from the citizens from your city or whatever. Then a Upgrade or power could be called "Tax Collectors" which increases the output of money.

Maybe for Athene, but not for Sparta. Spartans did not pay tax, they only demanded tribute from the other (Non-Spartan) villages they controlled.

Matias and I have been working on the Spartan model I started (Picture), and here is what it looks like now, much improved.

Looks amazing! Great work.

I would assume the shields are using separate textures from the bodies... So they can be upgrades with new textures separately. Are there any other parts that need to be that way?

Hoplites look fantastic!

EDIT: As before, I suggest that the 'heavy armour' style upgrade for the Hoplites be "Linothorax". Here are some references (I'm sure that you can Google yourselves, but this should save you the trouble :thumbsupsmiley:).
