I never finished Singularity and I still think Act 2 is easier. :V

How will the Act 3 be? easier than Act 2 or much harder than Act 1...
Posted 24 March 2018 - 03:05 PM
Unlikely. Act 2 was easier only because people were crying about Act 1's difficulty I think

Yeah, though Act 2 did become quite relentless in the second half.
And really, now that we have save/load, I think anything new will be made with that in mind.

Or it might be related to the fact that the mission designer is less proficient in massive assaults than in super micromanagement missions.
Speeder requires the mission designer to beat his own mission within reasonable time. (duh)
So you can be rest assured something like Aegis Impervious won't happen in official kaizo MO

But... if the finales are boring glorified skirmishes, then act 2 will be purged, high hopes for Hamartia.

Every mission in Act 3 will start with instant mission failure.

Speeder did make a series of tutorials a long while ago.
I made something like a tutorial a short while ago, based on the Epsilon faction.
When I have the time I can look into reviving it.
Would you like to revive the tutorial maybe?
I probably won't have the time to continue it, maybe I do.
Here are my old tutorial file. Place the two files in the rar in your MO directory and play Peacekeeper (Ep01)
http://www.mediafire...d_Tutorial.rar
It is based on a old version of the beta, and there are some wonky text that should be polished.
A video for easy visuals:
If someone wants to use the map as a base for making his own tutorial series, I guess he's free to do so. I will look forward to that.

Heh, kinda cool, though I feel it's somewhat weird to control Epsilon units that won't be available until late Act 1 and Act 2.
Maybe that previously mentioned Act 0 could be a tutorial series. Telling a "backstory" to the whole conflict, while also providing a tutorial. Maybe like 3 missions, one with each faction, explaining their "origins" and focusing on the style of missions the player will face with those factions in Act 1. (Maybe squad and hero control with Allies while also basic controls, base building and economy with Soviets, micromanagement, deploy and support powers with Epsilon.)

Now that would be something I could get behind!

I'm wondering if we'll ever see Red Alert 1 era units available as tutorial units maybe? Maybe as a wargame scenario? Could that possibly work or no?
Posted 21 August 2018 - 03:13 AM
Too much work tbh. We only have like a few units, plus tutorials should have the current units involved, because it should introduce you to them instead of the old ones, even if it's just for the sake of learning controls and basics

Ah, that's fine then. Maybe make it so that the tutorials take place before World War 3 happens. (If that's even a possibility)

If any tutorial "minigames" become a thing, why not revive the ol' co-op mission Cornered, for players to practice fighting Terror Drones? Silly thought, I know, but it could be revised to include mechanics like how to remove Terror Drones from the inside.
