Can somebody explain to me how the webway system works exactly? What does it do? And how exactly does the Ion cannon upgrade work? Do I need a regular, unupgraded webway turret for it to function and target enemies, or can it fire at will, without needing any form of targeting?

You need to have both upgraded and unupgraded turrets. Unupgraded turrets are the designators. Upgraded turrets are the Ion Cannons (attackers). But you might notice some bugs. They are being fixed.

It seems a little overpowered seeing as the Ion cannons can be an unlimited distance away. Maybe there should be a minimum required distance between the Ion Cannons and each Web designator.

Just another bug I noticed a few games after: destroyed Tech buildings block incoming projectiles, however any unit can pass trough a destroyed Tech building.

 

The nuke general doesn't seem to have any defensive structures.  they should have some.

It was like this since 007 - I think he should at least have 1 weaker defense structure, such as a bunker. He may not be a defensive general but giving him none at all seems a little strange.

Nuke shouldn't have any defences. He has enough firepower to keep pushing at the enemy. Later he gains numerous long range bombard units (Nuke Cannon, Yan Wang), and Nukes (Nuke Storm, Nuke Missile) to wipe out the enemy's base easily...the best defense is the offense.

Maybe just a small bunker which can hold only 1 infantry, or something like that.

I loved the balanced out factions in contra 008, but i still fought cyber general were too good ofensive early game (based on that i crushed the enemy too quickly using few just a random mix of foot soldiers). Was  a bit disappointed that i hardly saw a difference in hard and insane enemy. But what i really missed t i ntlonger could build up close to infinite cash with hackers or cash drops. . .

Web Defense System is still overpowered and there are problems with the AI.

I have some idea for Web Defence system: it may have longer reload time and/or higher energy consumption.

Bug report: Moto Terrorists blow up too early. Sometimes they doesn't hit the target, and they don't bring any damage.

I really like the cash limit. Its great for multiplayer games, because you can´t build nearly infinite numbers of tanks or something like that. The only drawback is the ability of the web defence to fire across the whole map (or so it seems). Also air force generals combat chinhooks are too hard to get down, especially when you are playing GLA. Everything seems fine too me.

No Problems with AI or the other generals. Keep up the good work.

 

And one last thing about my installation, maybe thats why I dont have any problems:

I had contra 007 and one vanilla Zero Hour (German), unzipped the big files (!Contra008BetaEn and !Contra008Beta) and moved the contents to the correct folders in the vanilla ZH. I kept the Zero Hour Data from Contra 007 in my documents folder. My OS is Win7.

Hope this helps others to get things going.

I didn't know there was a cash limit - is this in skirmish, or in multiplayer only?

Sorry, I was not really exact. There is no cash limit, but a limit to hackers and the like.

I'm not sure if there's a way through. We must fix it.

I noticed several bugs playing with SWG

- Saturn's Eye Laser can't fire over lower structures
- Saturn sometimes go invisible (not for the enemy, just for me) and it is unselectable

- Saturn's Eye Laser sometimes have incorrect beam source (the beam's source is not the Eye)

- Saturn sometimes walks into the ground on non-flat terrains

- You can't buy EMP mines for Web Defence, however there is the Mine upgrade icon

- Web Defence's range is increases when the Designator is built on a high ground

- Saturn looks like can't move. The movement cursor shows me, that it is impossible to move it to the desired place

On some maps, A.I do nothing. But only some A.I. 

 

Plus A.I is not that strong how it was in Contra 007. In 007 if i used the first difficult A.I was stronger than the third difficult in vanila ZH.

I would like to play and test game with A.I. 

 

How can I enebale strong A.I like in 007?

AI was stronger in 007 because it had less bugs. New bugs appeared with the release of 008 Beta such as AI not attacking, not rebuilding or GLA Demolition and Toxin generals not building Arms Dealers.

Hi,

 

some things i found

as superweapon... the webdefense system offers a mine upgrade but this cant be used becaus of "conflickting upgrade"

if saturn was building and the "idle worker" button is pressed it jumps to the in build progress saturn also...

 

dont know if this is new map and related with contra ... the Map "Fortress (4 players) dont like to have AI in the lower right corner... if I place the AI there it is startin in the lower left corner

 

so far...

i might be in the wrong part but i read about contra and thought i might like this everytime i tried to install it welp it failed it is like the autoloader dont work at all. thought i must admit this will be a fun mod when done i wish someone would tell me what i am doing wrong with this mod so i can get to enjoying it

Are you using a launcher? You don't need it. Here's how to install it.

 

Put all files inside a clean Zero Hour directory (with no mods installed) and rename Scripts folder to Scripts1 (which is located inside Data folder).
Only one of these files must be inside your Zero Hour directory:
"!Contra008BetaRu.big" - for Russian language.
"!Contra008BetaEn.big" - for English language.
