First: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buratino

Second: http://www.military-...illery/tos1.htm

The vehicle also originates from Russia and its nickname was Buratino, hence the game unit is called Buratino.

If every unit has to have the same name that it does in real life, then we'd need to rename the Wolfhound to "Blackshark", the Stormchild to "Rafale", the Warhawk to "Comanche" :trickydick: - etc. IMO the names in the game are meant to give each unit and faction a unique flavor, rather than be 100% accurate to real life - so I don't see what the unit has to be named Buratino - in fact giving units their real-life names is the exception rather than the rule in this game.

It's real life name was TOS-1, but they nicknamed it to Buratino. :p

But I really don't know what your problem is with the unit names. Nobody had problems with them until you. :p (And maybe Kivz)

I already mentioned my concern - Latin Confederation just doesn't feel very Latin since their unique units all have either standard English names, or Russian names - not a big deal but it makes them feel more bland than the other factions.

I mean China gets a Nuwa Cannon - Pacific Front gets Tsurugi mechs - Latin Confederation gets a... a bunch of Russian hand-me downs? Kind of lame in comparison.

The Latin Confederation's arsenal is mostly comprised of Russian hand-me-downs. That's what we were going for. ;)

Perhaps you have some cool-sounding Latin names for units? We'd love to hear 'em.

Tortilla Tank (Replacement for Catastrophe)

Enchilada Quad (Replacement for Mortarquad)

Burrito (Replacement for Buratino, I just call it Burrito anyway)

Sombrero Riflemen (Replacement for Conscripts)

Here's a few I suggested:

Drakov - Caiman (Alligator in Spanish) or Tiburon (Shark in Spanish) - fits the unit since it grabs holds of vehicles with it's "teeth" and doesn't let go until it's destoyed.

Buratino - Diablo (devil in Spanish) - it's a fire themed weapon so the name fits

Vulture - Buitre(Vulture in Spanish) or Condor (a bird of prey from the South American Andes Mountains).

Here is a few for the shit and giggles:

Bomb Buggy - Speedy Gonzales Buggy

Borillo - Quesadilla

Terror Drone - La Cucaracha

Drakuv - Taco Stand Grinder Tank

Catastrophe Tank - Bastion Tank (suitable for the tank because it conveys a spirit of struggle and resistance instead of something generic and excessive);

Drakuv - Porcupine (sounds nicer and does not convey the idea of something Russian);

Buratino - Immolator (follows the same vibe of Warhawk and Wolfhound and is less related to Russia too).

The Vulture, Bomb Buggy and the Mortar Quad are appropriate in my opinion.

To be honest (even ignoring the obvious sarcasm above) there aren't ton of Spanish words I can find which sound fitting as unit names.

Another suggestion. Replace the Navy SEALs for EA and PF with a unique variant (it'd be like if USA had a French Foreign Legion unit).

Simpler idea - just follow the "Stryker - Archon - Tsurugi" rule.

The EA SEAL counterpart (suggestion - SAS) has slower movement speed than the SEAL but higher firepower.

The PF SEAL counterpart (Samurai/NInja/whatever fits the theme) has the slowest movement speed but the highest firepower

Other than that the abilities are the same.

Some cheesy Latin names coming up...

Buratino- Multo Igni (long flame)

Drakuv- Rapere Reptant  (abduct crawl)

...or alternatively, some cheesy Spanish names for them...

Buratino- Largo Lanzallamas (long flamer)

Drakuv- Grillete (shackles)

Vulture- Cielo Artilleria (sky artillery)

It has been mentioned time and time again MO isn't going to implement Faction-Specific Special Ops for the Allies. If you want Ice Ninjas or Scottish Demolition Specialists MO isn't your Game Mod.

I don't care what specific replacement the other 2 factions get, so long as it isn't a US Navy ™ branded unit. Because this is like the US using a French Foreign Legion ™ as a specops unit. Even if the difference was entirely aesthetic with no statistical difference at all - that would be an improvement.

The SEAL was made a unit back in the original RA2 when USA was the only Allied faction.

In this universe, Navy SEAL is a joint, multi-national commando training program, created by the US after repelling the old Soviet Invasion. :p

Because seriously, EA and PF won't get their own commando, no matter if they're completely different or just different names and gfx.

That may be a possible side effect of pooling resources together into the Pacific Front in my head canon.
