#1088584 SEE "Stumpy" War Troll

Posted by Nazgûl on 16 August 2018 - 05:23 PM

This troll is based on the BFME giant proportions, to fit those anims...

Should be quite fun to play with in game, if it ever makes it that far  :whatoa:

Model is high res atm.

Holy smokes the years go by fast...  :omg: this is crazy. I started in 2006, and now it's like another ice age has passed. I wonder if I'll die of old are before I ever get to see another SEE out  :whatoa:

Anyways... I miss modding and the community, but life just took me in another direction I guess. These days my little nazgûl is my precious, and during these first 1,5 years of his life I haven't had any chance to hang around here, because when I do, I find it harder to stop the urge to mod  :smile2ap: The first 6 months of his life was just a never ending cycle of feeding, sleeping and changing diapers and catching whatever little sleep we could have ourselves. After that things got even more hectic as he started to crawl and eventually walk and run. Now, most of our home is locked, taped, blocked or in some way secured from his little curious fingers  :thumbsupxd: I love being a dad, but it is SERIOUS work, ALL day from dawn 'til dusk. And at night you're just completely beat so I often pass out way before my regular bedtime, lol.

However, since a little while back he started preschool. So when I have scheduled days off from work and my son is in day care I get a little chance to sometimes do some modding work. I have no idea anymore if I will ever get a playable version of SEE out there, or if there's still anyone left from the old fellowship who is willing to help me out with this never ending project - but it's still fun to carry on in whatever little time I have.  :whatoa:

I will post some modeling updates very soon... featuring more of the Gundabad Soldier Orcs, Berserker Orcs and War Trolls...  :thumbsuphappy:

Been away, with my family...

Update, featuring full body and two helmets. I'll make a few more helmets, but the body will be uniform. I simply choose the one with the best reference material.

Swoosh....

Man, time does fly...  :whatoa:

Been out of the hobby for some time, due to reasons stated above.

And here he is... my little hobbit, Elias. 4 months old in one week from now  :smile2ap:

And no, the mod is not dead. I just took a break due to this little happy camper's arrival to this world  :smilehuh:

#1036429 SEE Gundabad Soldier Orcs

I'll be damned... Well, don't think I will add another battalion just cause of those two glimts :trickydick: This faction will utilize Moria archers.

First helmet done.

#1036413 SEE Gundabad Soldier Orcs

Posted by Nazgûl on 14 August 2016 - 05:54 PM

I'm getting very close to the wrap up, regarding needed models for the first release of SEE-DC...

This is the last model needed for Misty Mountains factions. Now, in the movies, I get the impression that the costume designers either was inconsistent, or deliberately chose to differ the orcs that marched with Azog from Dol Guldur, and the orcs that marched with Bolg from Gundabad, to the Battle of the Five Armies. So if I would stay 100 percent true to the movies, I would need one more or less uniform model (Gundabad), and one LUA based with random armor parts (Dol Guldur). But to avoid having this faction utilize too many types of orcs, I'm strongly leaning towards combining them both, giving the mixed impression we see in the actual battle, when the orc army charge. In all those scenes, the orc differ in armor and weapons, except shield that seem to be mostly the same. I got a very nice model from Tactics mod, by Ruudy. But that is an early model based strongly on the Games Workshop concept (that is very good though). So, even though I like the body and armor (that is also slightly random), I'm going for a head of my own, as well as a range of 4-5 helmets and perhaps a few weapons, and hopefully the rigger can combine them.

Just finished the generic head.

Been gone for ages, once more...

Just thought I should drop a line about why, for whomever might care or be interested  :whatoa:

Back in February, I unexpectedly met what was to become a life changer of great proportions - the right woman (yeah I know, unbelievable, right). As such, since then, I have basically spent most of my free time with her, and things have taken off in a speed and manner I myself would have deemed silly, if I wasn't experiencing it myself, like now  :smile2ap:  As of now, I am engaged. We bought a house in the country side and I'm about to become a father, this winter, to a small nazgûl of my own  :evgr:  Hence, I have not had any time for hobbies such as this while we built our relationship in the midst of all other IRL things such as work, families and friends. But, being the wonderful woman she is, she understands and are actually interested herself. Both in gaming to some extent, but especially in this project and all the work we've done. So she encouraged me to get back in the game, even if it can't be as frequent as before. Luckily, the Gimli model is the last majorly important model to make for the first setup of SEE Dc, so I stil have hopes to see this though, somehow.

#1024354 SEE Gimli

Thank you guys, old and new =) Glad you approve. And I think this was just about the best compliment I've ever gotten :p...

That is a marvelous design for a great character portrayed by a brilliant actor in a wonderful movie

...as that was the intention - to capture the strong character of Gimli, portrayed by a great actor.

And yes DarkLord, I get it now, lol. And I sincerely agree. Some of the dwarves in the Hobbit, especially Kili doesn't fully carry the proper dwarvish look.

Here's a comparison shot between all my currently made dwarven models.

Then I hope you like this progress...  :shiftee2:

Tried a new technique this time, painting while I'm sculpting, so, almost ready to paint the beard and hair  :aarambo:

Gimli_Head3.jpg

Btw, this weekend, I will test my mod at a collegues place, on a brand new super computer with 4 GHz i7 CPU, 16 Gb RAM and a GeForce 980 Titanium. I will stress the game as much as I can with loads of units and see how far I can push it with my high poly models. It will be interesting (and scary) to see where severe lagg kicks in and how much it differs from my little laptop. My hopes are that the hardware will help, a lot. My fear is, that it won't. Here, I can build about a dussin hordes of my Moria Orcs before I start to notice a drop in frame rates.

#1023810 SEE Gimli

Started working on Gimli. The EA model is not too bad, but it wouldn't match the style and look of my new Erebor and iron Hills models. So... this model is based on the same proportions as them (built upon EA's vanilla Dain model). I'm not looking forward to making all them axes though.

#1023699 SEE Iron Hills Battle Wagon

Posted by Nazgûl on 17 January 2016 - 12:47 PM

Finally, I have my new Iron Hills model rigged properly along with the new goat model to what is to become Iron Hills Battle Wagon in SEE. Previous discussion here.

My "regular" rigger and team member Valheru is busy atm, so NDC stepped in with some awesome re-rigging of this model. In the process he was able to not only rig both the goat and the dwarf without any noticable distortions in anims (that usually are quite common when rigging my higher poly models to the few bones of the BFME animation skeletons (Great Goblin being the worst case so far)) - but also to kill all three bugs that EA left in the attack anim atka:

- The glitching left shoulder in frame 0.

- The dwarf that does not move with the wagon.

- The axle underneath that does not move with the wagon.

All those errors are now fixed and all anims, including the attack anim, works flawlessly. He also removed the completely unlogical axe blades from the banner.

It's so nice to see my models come to life  :thumbsuphappy:

Iron Hills banner flag is lended from Edain mod. I haven't got permission yet, but I will send request to them. They use my goat model, so I assume the little flag is ok =)
