Ah I just realized, wasn't Rashidi the one who created the Basilisk and Colossus in Lizard Brain?

And the Basilisk and Colossus both use plasma weapons according to the unit profiles.

Maybe SC contributed the plasma railgun weaponry to Foehn.

Or maybe you're overthinking it, because the only thing those two share is the word "plasma" in their description. Besides, these weapons were created for 3.0, when there was no "plasma railguns" and no Foehn at all. In case of Foehn weapons the actual weapon is the railgun, an accelerated projectile that strikes the target with lots of kinetic energy, creating plasma as a side effect. Epsilon plasma weapons have the plasma as the main damage source, so there's no real connection between these.

That's definitely possible and I am overthinking everything to find connections.

But I think it's still plausible, because Foehn has plasma weapons other than the railgun like the Megalodon sword, MAD mines, and Plasma bombs from Tarchia.

Foehn wasn't originally planned in 3.0, but that doesn't mean that the plasma connection couldn't have been added in after the fact. Colossus and Basilisk using plasma weapons could have been a neat coincidence from 3.0 to tie in Rashidi with Foehn.

Well plasma is often related to heat and Epsilon seems to use tech related to heat, thermal energy and natural gas, so it could be the same technology as the inferno tower; while Foehn's plasma seems more nanite-based.

Pretty sure the link between the two plasma techs can be made. Epsilon used Railgun tech in 3.0, and switched to the thermal beams once Foehn Revolt was created for later versions. If a change like this was made, I guess the fact the plasma weapons remained the same was probably a hint that Rashidi would be a member of the Revolt....

I am just wondering, will the Foehn units be resistant to mind control during Act 3 campaign only? Just for the sake of the campaign lore.

In the EOP: Survivor, for precautionary measures Rashidi made a neurotoxin that would made him and his brothers resistant to mind-control (while lethal if used long-term). Since Rashidi is now on the revolt side, that thing is highly possible.

It can go both ways really, the Foehn could decide it’s not worth the risk to use the neurotoxin (however unlikely), or maybe they can deal with the repercussions of it in late act 3.

Or, they could have something that can deflect the mind control waves (or whatever that powers the Epsilon's mind control technology) in such a way that it makes it inefficient to mind control Foehn units?

For example, it will take 3 Mastermind slots or 2-3 Adepts/Elites to mind control 1 Foehn unit. I don't know if this is achievable in the current engine and for balancing reasons, only available in the campaign mode aka Act 3.

I guess... at least Foehn units may be immune to long-range mind controlling like Psychic Beacons, Psychic Amplifiers, but some are not tough enough to withstand direct, individual mind control from Adepts, Elites and Masterminds? Like their armor and tech shields only against long-range psychic waves? How does that sound?

I don’t feel like the plot point of the neurotoxin should be disposed of, it’s a good risk/reward against their only real opponent, Epsilon, who relies heavily on mind control to overcome their opponents. I also feel like it would be interesting for the Foehn to have to deal with the repercussions of using the neurotoxin because the epsilon were strong enough to hold off the Foehn for the neurotoxin to kick in it’s fatal consequences. Armour and “tech shields” defending against mind control seems too forced, I think the neurotoxin would be able to effect the plot in an interesting way rather than using a new technology to protect their forces which just seems like an instant Foehn win.

Could it be that the neurotoxin is further refined so that it doesn't kill as fast as the current iteration? After all, Rasihidi did said he wanted to further refine it.

OR

The Foehn could use the neurotoxin as part for the "conscious slumber"? i.e. Used together with suspended animation using cyro-tech, since the Pacific Front specialized in cyro-tech.

Act 3, act 3... Why do we keep talking like an Act 3 is a sure thing? If I missed an announcement that's on me, but I wouldn't be talking about act 3 like it's going to happen for sure.

It's 99% obvious that the Mental Omega will show up in the final missions.

The Foehn debrief in Tainted Empire suggests that the Mental Omega does global mind control.

Foehn unit descriptions talk about some catastrophic event in the past tense, so something really bad happened.

In terms of the narrative, an Act 3 ought to happen, and it seems to be Foehn vs Epsilon after Epsilon defeats Allies and Soviets.

There are so many obvious hints in Foehn trailers, teasers from ModDB, Twitter feed that an Act 3, Foehn vs. Epsilon, is going to happen.

It'd be weird if Act 3 was hyped up and then no Act 3 happens.

Consider a new faction that hasn’t had a real appearance in the campaign is in their prequel of sorts, it’s safe to say that they’ll be having their time to sign in another act.

As someone who’s worked in creating unique and interesting plot lines, I’d hope it’s not as simple as “just improve the toxin”, while there are masses of mind controlled forces all over the planet as resistance, the Epsilon’s main gimmick is the ability to mind control their opponents, throwing that out the window seems ridiculous. I’ll admit to being a touch biased against the Foehn, but they’re supposed defeat of the Epsilon would be much more interesting with the element of the Neurotoxin forcing them to have a limited amount of time to defeat the Epsilon, or them having to rebuild after the neurotoxin does it’s damage rather that finding some alternative to it.

I don’t see how the neurotoxin could be used in a “conscious slumber”, all it does is trick the common psychic, make yourself immune to mind control, and slowly kill you. As far as I’m convinced, it seems that cryo tech appears to have been abandoned by PF during the revolt if the Foehn arsenals are anything to work by.

Also, one of the reasons Speeder started MO, besides the balance fixes, because he always thought Yuri not getting his on campaign in YR was wasted potential. It's obvious that he would make a campaign for Foehn as well, and he originally announced them getting a 12 mission campaign. Though who knows how much stuff have changed since then and if we'll get even more than that....

I wouldn't mind a sort of "tag-team" campaign where you play Foehn for like 2 missions, then 2 missions for the global Epsilon (Reptoir), controlling mixed/hybrid armies, and jump back and forth with people theorizing which one of them will win, as that would be a secret until the end, with cliffhanger mission ends between updates, and all that. Would be exciting.

inb4 Speeder baits everyone and Foehn loses

I think that's kind of what's happening now. It's a four-way tag-team between all the factions getting 1-2 mission each, with a few cliffhangers here and there (Paradox Engine arrival comes to mind). The only difference being that it's obvious what the ending is going to be, so it's more like watching a disaster happen in slow motion.

That's kinda the thing. Those people who knew how to open the mix files have known how most of Act 2 will play out through the string files, and even now, thanks to Foehn lore, even more people know. But Act 3? Nobody knows jack shit about what it will be, just that there will be one. It's exciting!

Foehn missions are likely a thing, but they won't be like anything you have seen so far. :)

So, Epsilon finally learns their lesson and place their barrels properly, for starters?
