You know thats the wrong thing about all this ''Fafnir" idea(which i like a lot).
Somebody sead:"whait until Creators version to see what units is he going to add cause making the same unit  it wont help a lot!!!its only waste of time ;)
I dosnt have to say that i like a lot this mech but there is no need to build a unit from scatch that already is plant for the contra 4 :)

I dont think so ! Cause this mech is very beautifull and im glad M.E.C.H requested it from Viator ! And i heard that Pendaelose maybe include this mech in his next version ;) As for the doubling of an already axcisting unit..... Dont say so cause many other generals have double and triple units for the same purpose :p And as for the FAFNIR i also think that its the most beautifull unit.... and it won't double creators mech, cause creators mech will be medium to all and this will be tank slayer (as M.E.C.H. says :) ) It is a very good idea ! :p

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

a few days, still waiting on a skin, but the code is no problem at all. With it I also want to make a mech builder unit. I'm debating with myself how it should look.

Today I got the Fafnir loaded up for the first play runs. The weapons MECH Wanted to give it have proven very buggy, espesialy the Gauss Riffle. The pulse laser worked great though, so I'll be working on what combos I can do. The biggest problem is that the Beam weapons can only fire from a single bone, while cannons and missles can alternate fire points ie left AND right arms... the Fafnir can only hold 3 weapons and a pair of beams takes 2. I wlil do some work and fine something apropriate, even it its not what was originaly intended. I can only promise it will look good. I do not intend to stay within the bounds of the battle tech setting.

The looked ok, but the leg thing while idle did look a little odd, when firing the torso sometimes wants to keep swivleing. I'm going to try dropping the idle animations and using the idle turret code... I'll let you know how it goes.

The death animation is really good... I lvoe it, but sometimes it doesn't finish, I'm not sure why. i've got to do some trouble shooting on it still.

For a quick skin, what about somthing simpler than the camo. Like raise the contrast on the exsisting simple lines and colorize the white to a dirty off whit similare to a US tank. Then add a couple painted areas like the one pic had on the leg plates, or around the cannons.

I've been playing aorund with the Fafnir alot tonight. Mostly weapon tweeking, but also thinking on apearance.

It needs HouseColor on the shoulder fins, the center stripe(center torso), and on the large armor just below the knee.

the rest of hte paint job is pretty darn flexable.

I love the Pulse Laser Mech made... I only had t odo some very small tweeks and it works great. the killer is the darn heavy gun. I've still not come up with anything that feels right. I'm still trying all sorts of things, but none realy work out right and look good. the damage is well balanced at the moment, but the projectile and FX are still up in the air.

Only rules on suggsetions... it can't be a beam weapon or laser. There aren't enough free weapon slots on the mech. It has to be some kind of heavy gun, missle, or other projectile. Even an invisible projectile that leaves a trail would work... I've tried earthshaker shells, specter howitzer, nuke shells, Particle cannon(now a dead option)... pretty much you name it... i'm open to suggestions.

Your last animated version is very good.

I wonder if to use your Fafnir in Contra 004. It look much better than my one. What do you think?

Pendalose, to add more weapon slots make an addon like Overlord have. For example, whole mech will be normal unit but its arms, head or backpack will be addon. Of course this addon must be initially built. Also you can look at my laser Comanche code. It have 3 different lasers and it is not the limit. It can have maximum 6 different lasers.

Yet another way to add more weapon slots is to use Fire Base logic. Mech will start with some infantry loaded. Infantry will be invisible, invulnerable and will have different weapons. Of course there should not be unload button as well.

i think that the stealth gen shuld get the normal scorpion back but instead of the rocket upgrade he could purchase a stealth upgrade.

Why lough ? This looks really AWESOME !!! It looks high tech ! Now pendaelose what are you talking about ? I made your tank hunter the size of fafnir i made it fire gauss and x pulse and in the end i made a gauss beam on my own here it is :

I maked a new laser, i took the microwave disable stream, made it whole BIGGER and then recolored it to white-blue ! It has the damage and the stats that i gave you... It works with no problem !I play with my friends LAN and they loved this beam it looks more realistic then in the mechwarrior !!! With this beam the FAFNIR will look the most AWESOME unit in the game !!! Viator i will have to say that your work will always be good ! The animation (in the video) is very sweet ;) So does the whole model ! Thank you again for this GREAT model ;) Pendaelose try what i said to you, it will look very very good ! See the picture !

I like that. hadn't thaught of using an addon, but your right, I can think of several units that use it that way with a preloaded set. The fire base idea is especialy new to me. It makes sense, I had just never thaught of anything like that for it. Would have to add several firepoint bones to the unit, but thats no big deal.

I'd love to see it in Contra .04 But I would also really like to see the Mech you were working on. i'm not the least ashamed to use both :blink:

Viator:
Looks killer, especialy around the torso guns

MECH:
I'l check out your beam idea, it does look good. Creator pointed out a few ways to make it fire more beams, so it frees me from the 3 beam limit.
The biggset problem with the first particle beam was that it made sound problems, it would start looping and nver stop, but not consistantly, the weapon might have to fire a few times before it bugged out. But a single sound, like a cannon is no problem at all, just have to pick the right sound.

Wow this Gauss looks very beatifull !!! Pendaelose are you gonna put this gauss on the FAFNIR ? M.E.C.H. amazing work ! This one is the best beam i sawed ! It is more beautifull-cooler than the particle beam ! Awesome work M.E.C.H. !!!

The red looks great, but it should be house color there instead of red skin... If you have to make model adjustments thats compleatly fine, just leave the weapon bones the same and all will be good.

it's good to hear that, cause this mean i won't have to finish my crappy skin :blink:

model needs just some smoothing corrections (cause exporter unnessesarly smooth some polygons) and needs a detaching of polygons for housecolor (Creator or Pendaelose can you take one of the fafnir pictures i posted previously, paint best places for housecolor and then post this picture back?) :lol:

sure, I can do that tonight. its a pretty easy list. I'll use the pic you showed half skinned. I thaught it really looked pretty good. It could have used a little color tinting, but it was good... I saw nothing crappy.

but it was just base color with lines marking places for further edition and some partly skinned front parts

I know, but it actulaly looked really good. it showed as lots of little details... I think perfect for that type of unit.



Its not much, the parts marked over with red would be good in housecolor. Mostly its just small stripes visible from every angle.
