i tired coding one myself with alot of fire effects, i have a nvidia geforce 6200 (yea i know leave me be) and a 3.0 processor and it still had to slow down for but it only had about 4 levels of "explosions" then a grande finale...
another big one is the FX priority and how many fx are on sreen. the engine supports relativly few low priority FX, and one complicared FX can eat up the whole thing at once
I've toyed with the thaught of making ALL FX "always draw" I think it would work, and would be beutiful to play, but only the best machines could play it.... of course, if I did anything like that I would make it an optional DL
