Except dozers don't have weapons.
The chinook can only hold 2 tanks also.
if you have an are that is unaccessible except by air or tunnel network how do you get there??
I don't rely on chinooks at the beginging like that because its not fun
If i build defense completly around my base how do i get out??
What if you need to get a medic somewhere quick without the medic taking hits.
How will you perform a combat drop?
How will i get stuff around if there is no tech airfield??

most maps don't have them so how the hell are we supposed to get Sea Devils?????????????
How about instead of making the USA weaker you make the others stronger. Giving the GLA air units would help solver the problem.

Except dozers don't have weapons.

Its stupid to cripple a side, you need transports.. they are the most important part of your machine
How many maps have the Tech airfield Vanguard HOW MANY ???
and that leaves how many without any way to get a transport
All other sides get a transport except the USA?? seems a little unfari
How about instead of bitching about the "unbalancedness" of it why don't you just make the other sides stronger????

and @ Vangaurd

You sit here with a forum and ask us for our opinions about the mod and then when we give them to you you sit there bitching about it. All we are doing is trying to help out and your attacking us for it. Its not right man.

yeah i know and i don't mean any offense but all I'm saying is that all we are doing is trying to help out and give him input about is modification and I at least don't want to be attacked for doing this.

I apologize if I did offend you at all Vanguard, but please remember that all we are trying to do is help.

OMG you are hopless does anyone read what I say....

Travis says:
what about the Combat Chinook?
.:Vanguard:. says:
Can only do infantry

As for crippling a side, it wont cripple them, mobility is only what you make of it. I am more mobile then a lot of people who use choppers, it's because they can't get around the fact that they need those to fight, which you don't.... so the next person that says the word cripple I will delete their post because I have seen it about 12 times on the last two pages, to much. No more...it isn't crippling.... Naval maps will have the hover craft, sea devils will be aviliable on those missions which require transports, (chinooks can carry 4 tanks dude), You think having air transports is a necesity, well you still have them, but you need to capture the Tech Airfield to get it. You still have the blackhawks which can take infantry to defend the tech structures until the dozer gets there. So in actuality, you all are just making asses of yourselfs. Aside from the few that havn't really said anything. You don't have to have Chinooks to get around bridges, you have Stealth Fighters to destroy the defenses, and for someone who say "But what about the detecting stuff?" Well genius, you arn't a strategist then because you arn't doing something essential to war. Attack from multiple directions, crush your enemy, even if you are out numbered, you can still easily win, if you have the right strategy.

I agree with vanguard on that startegy one. One of my missions has you outnumbered about 7 cannons and 8 hurricanes to 1 unit on your side. and yes, people have said the word "cripple" in way too many posts (Vanguard don't delete this post, I'm agreeing with you on that word, not saying it'll mess up a force). It's getting on my nerves, and that's hard to do.

maybe u can keept the chinook the way it is and just make it a little bigger... only problem, it should be able to carrie more suppies, troopers but the same nuber of vehicles.

i think that idea of crippling the us isn't a good idea and seems quite unreal to me.
after all they are a superpower and they have their high tech army and a lot of money and i'm sure that they have loadsa transport units as well, only thing that annoys me... the chinook was used to transport supplies and anti tank cannons (u know for example these german PAKs) but they were never ever used to transport a tank... i mean a tank is 50 tons and a chinook maybe 20-30 tons.
tanks are being transported by these hyperdimensional 240 ton special army support planes. that idea of a helix being able to carry tanks is good, but then again they can carry overlords and they are almost twice as big as the helix itself.

How about that if the chinooks can carry artillery units that are not big and infantry. BTW in real life it is possible to mount weapons on the chinook and make it a heavy attack chopper. Is it posiible to make chinook carry infantry , carry suplies + have a upgrade that makes it armed with rockets or machine guns?
If it cant carry tanks it should ba armed to fill the deleted ability.

that's a good point bismarck, but anyway, usa will lose agility, and that's not too good in this game.anyway that idea about machine guns is cool

but on the other hand, what would ya have to do to the combat chinook, i mean it's that airforce machine and it needs to be ahead of the normal chinooks

How many actually use vertical envelopment tactics, anyway? The Chinook is so vulnerable to AAA and missiles that it has to be escorted en masse by attack helicopters, and the road to its landing zone must be paved by air strikes. The idea is nice, but in this game has been impractical (in my admittedly limited experience) and more trouble than it is worth.

have u ever seen a chinook, well i guess so. i have as well. now imagine a chinook carrying two 50 ton tanks. that's impossible and for realism's sake, u really should change that.

in my opinion humvee or ambulance is alright maybe a few better offensive capabilities. best would be to have a supply + infantry transporter available after u have your supply center. then after you have the airfield constructed, u can build special chinooks capable of carrying one light vehicle and a few infantrymen. then give it a machinegun.

so basically just split the one usa chinook into two(explained bove), this will keep the balance at the beginning of the game.

now the only thing is, what do we give gen granger???

i hope u get my point

The Chinook could carry vehicles only by a special sling underneath the helicopter. I think the Blackhawk can carry almost the load of the Chinook in a similar fashion.

I say leave the Chinook alone,

i though Project Raptor was to improve on an existing game, having chinooks kept the way they are will stop the bitching

I do agree that sometimes they seem a little pointless being able to carry anything

however for other general challenges not just super weapon they are invaluable

for example

tank gen's to get to the reinforcement pad quickly using a chinook filled with a dozer

plus tech building in the manual state that they are there to augment your army

Oil Derecks = cash
Hospital = infantry heal while on the field ( really nasty when used with Fai)
Artillery = Defense

having chinooks in there original capacity is not going to weaken any other side as they were like that to begin with

and removing that capability will only make the people to dependant on them have to think up new strategies, which may or may not be a bad idea

if however you going to be democratic about this then most people have said leave them be

in which case why not let the more powerful of USA air toys only be available from the Tech Airfield

they would still have the raptor, king raptor, Aurora in both beta and alpha, commanche's and various other planes

all of which if used properly are very destructive

the only other option is to remove both the sea devil and the blackhawk as they weren't in vanilla zero hour anyway.

Whith the armamment upgrade chinook would gain extra hp, armor and weapons but after the upgrade it cant gather supplies anymore. It would be like a last resort upgrade.
