Yep, the skin is already there, just like other things Ive added like Gothmog and my Dwarven Berserkers... all there, but unused before. And the mesh has no spaces in the name, if not the _ is counted as one? (_SKN)? Could it be that the skin is DDS and not TGA? :S

And have the EXACT same problem with the Orc Pikemen u know... All done, but invisible (if I try to use the new texture for them)...

*mumbles*

not the name of the file ;) the model's objects.... I understand if you don't have a clue :)

anyways, try to just have the RohanElvenWarrior for the banner carrier, and see how it fits  if it doesn't look good, I don't know what you should do.. just try again to change it or something :D the USER_7 and that..

*lol* ok, forget it! =p
I'll just use the "Rohan Elven bla bla" (who on EA came up with that name anyways), which I call Lórien Warriors (since that's what they are actually), as a banner carrier for the Noldors instead, even if it looks kinda weird.

- Btw, do they have/use a banner carrier in the WK expansion?

Anyway... I'll "simply" ad this to the "NoCanDoForNow list" along with the new Orc Pikemen skin and other minor issues that opefully a small team can crack for the Alpha version...

New minor polishing issue:
- Some of my units, heroes and hordes, miss the "short cut letter". How do I ad those? (Not that I use them myself, but just to be picky...) =p

For units, on the string that displays their name in the barracks menu, add a '&' before the letter you want to use. Example:

COMMAND:ConstructGondorSwordsmen
"Gondor &Swordsmen"
END

The 's' would be the hotkey in that.

For heroes it is slightly different. In their INI you can add something like this:

Hotkey		= CONTROLBAR:CelebornHotkey

Then in lotr.str add the following:

CONTROLBAR:CelebornHotkey
"&Celeborn"
END

The hotkey would be 'c' in that case.

but always watch out with the hotkeys...

like, if you have Haldir, don't hotkey &Haldir, cause H is the same as if your going to your "home" (the camera comes to the fortress) and for Aragorn, you shouldn't have A, but I think it should work... what building has attack-move anyways :p those above aren't the worst though, cause your probably at your building when you make them anyways.... it's worse with powers.. Like, say, Legolas' "&Arrow-wich-instant-kills-any-dwarf", that would cause problems :omg: Legolas would then want to attack-move, and kill a dwarf :evgr:

Lol yeah, I made that mistake with my Luthien. I set the hotkey for her magic attack to 's', so everytime I ordered her to stop she fired it :p

:p Mohaha, ok thanks guys, that was a perfect explanation. I'll play the game, and make notes of which letters are taken and then distribute free ones, that hopefully wont "crash" with special powers. (Actually I think they should remove shortcuts all together, I never use them?) :omg:

ps, If anyone has any ideas about the invisible skins mentioned above (yeah I know, this happens a lot *lol*) - plz let me know... It would be great if I could remove that from the boring nocando-list and I know it CAN be done since others make new skins all the time :evgr:

Well... I'm done! :thumbsupdrool:
This is as far as I can go by myself... and the Beta is finished! :cool2: :mad2:

Now... I would maybe need a sub-forum to display all the screen shots and to have somewhere to upload the mod as well. Does anyone know who to ask about this... :tongevil:

First you need to go to the Revora main page, then scroll to the very bottom where it shows a link to the hive, then go to FAQ's and fill out a form.

To get a website, I would suggest Dreamweaver, it has a 30 day trial which is fine for starting a web site, but for upkeep, just use good old notepad. If you are accepted you will be given a username and password.

Open SmartFTP and go to the3rdage.net, type your username and password the required fields and login. Then drag your main webpage (should be index.html) in there along with any pictures and sub-webpages. try to organize things a bit and make sure that any links and references are correct... links don't need any directories if they are in the same folder, but when something is in another folder, you need to reference it. (images\screen01.png)

Oh just so you know, I'm in the same stage you are in... beta released, want a mod team but afraid to ask... I would suggest helping with some of your favorite mods until you feel you are ready for a mod team. Also, I find that if you want to help with another mod, find something to be good at besides coding, because the mod leader usually does that. I familiarized myself with Gimp, read some of Nertea's tutorials and now I'm an apprentice skinner. I also help with the audio on BOG, and I'm trying to help port maps for WotE.

Hope this helps,
JEV3

Wooouw... *lol* The amount of work in all that would be like starting this mod all over again =p

No, I will think of something else... I might just use my own website for the upload, and post the screens in a thread here. I was not planning on making this a full time job :thumbsupdrool:

And working on other mods is not in the pipeline either... This might sound really egoistic, but if someone with skills in modding plays this mod and likes it, and therefore would like to join a team with me to polish it up for a Alpha version - that is wonderful. If not - I'll just leave it be like it is. It's still a good mod and I'm very proud of it :tongevil:

The effect though is that I'm pretty much worn out, and almost "sick" of modding now, after 3 months of doing it. It's time to play... and if this mod never reaches Alpha, so be it. It was fun most of the time, and it came out great, despite some things ending up on the "nocando" list :cool2:

I'll think of something and post the soulution here, for all that might be interested in this mod...

I do have another problem to solve to before release though, I guess, and that is to port this mod from the "switch folders mod" to the "-mod" mod. I'm reading about that...

Nazzi, I've been following your mod from... well, since you first posted :thumbsupdrool: There are so many active topics in the BFME2 forum, so I skip alot, but never yours ;) so mate, if you need a model or something, lemme know ;) PM is fine, MSN even better :tongevil: and I may create the invisible units for you to, so they don't appear invisible anymore :cool2:

it's wierd though, I've never acctually cared about the mod itself :mad2: like, I only know that your making it better for you, improving it... but, I guess that's about it ;) :mad2:

I can also make you an easy website, but then you'd have to provide me with descriptions and pictures ;) :sad2:

as for hosting, I've been waiting for you to ask :p still, it's not up to me...

Lol, yeah I pretty much agree with you there Lauri (except on the model part, I'm a mixture of selfish and lazy when it comes to modeling :thumbsupdrool:).

The concept of your mod has personally never interested me, but I still follow it (and this topic :tongevil:) closely to read developments :mad2:.

I really hope you don't leave the community after this :(. You've come a such long way since you arrived, and it'd be a shame to see you leave :mad2:. Although it is of course your choice, and I hope we don't influence you one way or the other :cool2:.

zimoo, you know how it is.... breaks rule, cause then you wanna mod even more :thumbsupdrool: I could really need a break, but when I never take it, I don't wanna mod, and I don't wanna quit modding :tongevil: if I take a break, I'd probably want to come back to modding :mad2: if I force myself to not mod another week when I really wanna mod, I'd probably forget the modding goodness, and leave forever... eh, forever untill some months :cool2:

Aaaw, you guys are great! :cool2: :mad2: Thanks for your kind words! :thumbsupdrool:

U know, it's pretty much cause of the all the expertise (how do u spell that?) collected in this forum that I even got this far. Without this forum and guys like yourself, I would never have learned this much :mad2: So I hope you understand that I can never thank you enough for all the times you all took the time to help. I know - it's fun to help, but I haven't really reached that level of "master" yet, I'm more of a "padawan"... maybe "knight"... oh wait, I'm drifting into the wrong universe here *lol*

But seriously... it's time to show what Ive been up to. For this I will need three things:

1) Screen shots - I have those, and if noone will stop me, I will start a new thread here where I post them all with short descriptions. It should be a nice gallery for all interested in this (actually pretty simple, but yet extensive) idea. A moderator is welcome to move the thread elsewhere if it's not suitable in this part of T3A.

2) "Manuscript" - I have this one too, but it's a Word file, beeing converted into a PDF layout with InDesign. This is to make it more easy and enjoyable to read (hopefully).

3) Upload the mod - this beeing the somewhat tricky part. I MIGHT need someone to "do this for me" actually, even though I loathe the concept of asking for such things *lol*. But I'm just not really sure how to set thins up for that.

And Zimoo... yes I kind of figured that you weren't that excited about my mod in particular since I read the "me = no movie lover" bit somewhere... and this mod is about two things:
1 - MOVIE ACCURACY ("Everything" is made to look like the movies)
2 - REALITY (regarding balance (damage, armor and such) and stability of structures)
But still, it's wonderful that you still have been interested in helping out as much as you have :sad2:

THANKS again :tongevil:

EDIT (as usual *lol*): I almost forgot... Lauri, my fellow wiking, I would consider it an hour to receive your help for some final adjustments to a better Beta or even Alpha rel. I will PM you my MSN, and I guess we could go in swedish/norwegian from there? *lol*

And, watch out for the screens coming up... AND - sorry for the loong post! *LOL*

*lol*

Yes, and yes...

It's like this, my spelling is due to me typing extremely FAST in forums like this (+ my keyboard is worn down). I work as a journalist and I can assure you my spelling (at least in Swedish) is flawless... :evgr: but in forums, I don't always take the time to correct the spelling misstakes that always happens when I type this fast... :crazed:

And as far as norwegian goes, your spelling is not that different from ours, is it? Hehe, well, I'll see u there during this week :)

A little update... :)

Thanks to Lauri, this mod now has better looking Orc Pikemen units, since he helped me bind the new skins and in the process also made them a little more "orc-ish" by adding rust and dirt as well. Just the way we like it... ^_^

Cool ey? :p

Posted Image

He also helped me fix the Noldor bannaer carrier... The binding on the banner itself is off currently, but with some luck it will be fixed later on. But still, this is way better than having another unit carry a working banner, if you ask me...
