Sounds like they [the "team"] really cleaned it up. Units look more uniform by the sounds of it. Good. I would still think you would have trouble telling friend from foe (unless obvious) But hey, whatever works for you guys, we fans are right behind ya.

I have health bars turned on, plus I use the CTRL+# shortcut with about 98% of the units I control, so I'm not worried by this (infact tbh I never noticed team colours anyway, except when zoomed in full to take screenshots).

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

Maybe I just read to fast but Olorin, that last post made absolutely no sense. And I think that having the color of your house is a good idea, with the little circley thing under the units.

Ok so to clear things up, the units skins would all look the same no matter which player color they choose. However if you select the units, the decals would show your colors.

But i think that having a colored decal for your units is useless since you can only select your own units. If your colorblind and cant use the minimap, i think the best way to see if a unit is yours or not..... would just be clicking on them and see if they respond

That pretty much sums up what I said King Earnur. :p But I'd have to disagree with the second half of your post, Canterbury. If what you said were put into effect, then the player could make a lot of mistakes and issue unintentional orders. :)

To really clear things up.
The decals showing their owner's color is useless because you wouldnt be able to select enemy troops to see their color. You would only be able to see your own color. I suggest that the colored decal should be thrown aside and replaced by a normal decal where its only purpose is to identifly your own troops

But a coloured one is also there for looks as well, and I don't think the team would want to change that at this late stage. :p

I think having no unit colours is amazing - look at it in real life. There are always incidents of "friendly-fire". That "hardness", is IMO realistic, and when control groups are used, logical. What would be insanely fun would be that you could order your men to attack your men :p Make you think when planning an offensive.
An idea for an upgrade though, might be based upon the lines of adding team colours - just an idea.

How about the banners have the color? So what, if you would only know who your troops belong to if a level +2, would that work? I'm just throwing ideas out, just to see if it helps.

Your own soldiers attacking one another has just given me a very, VERY interesting idea, but not for the RA. But an upgrade that allows you to have your team colour visible? That's a bit...out there. :p I don't quite see how that will help.

That's actually an interesting idea. :sad2: I suppose that I would want to see the true colours of the banners at one point, but otherwise that's a very cool idea.

Heres how my mind works

~~~Banners show the colors of the player, thats pretty great idea.
What about the new recruits? How will they distinguish themselves?
I guess they have to earn it by battle or banner upgrade.
But their Lvl 1, they might get frightened off by the Horn of Gondor
The Horn of Gondor? Why does it only work on lvl 1 units?~~~
So i was thinking, does the Horn work of higher lvled units? :sad2:
The Horn of Gondor should work on most basic enemy units up until level 5, and some Elite units up until level 2-3. Heroes shouldn't recieve any effect from it, and it should give all nearby allied troops a damage bonus. That's my opinion on how the ability should work. :sad2:
I'll go for a higher level, say 3-4.
Back to the color thingy... could you maybe add a patch to the mod that would give the players colors again for the people that want it?
I doubt it.
1. It will only really be necessary when two of the same faction are playing and are on seperate teams.
2. If an enemy is in sight, the game announces "is that the enemy?"
3. Your troops should attack automatically if enemy troops get too close
4. The minimap shows colours and will also flash when there is a new fight
5. You cannot select enemy units, unless you click on one horde directly, but everything is greyed out, so there should be no confusion.
6. It's just more work.
7. You can always do it yourself
8. For people to play online, their files have to be exactly the same.
As I said before, the yuckyness of unrealistic colors outways how useful it can be. Who wants to play with purple uniformed soldiers or orcs in yellow armor?
92% of teens have moved onto rap. If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature. ROCK ON!!!
