Formations would only be good if the system would be worked out very very well and would always work without mistake

It would not work in generals, even the basic formation butten already in game does not work well. Put somethign in formation lock them in that formation but move them and if they have to turn the formations slowly but surely messes up and also any obsticals in the way messes the formation up and then they wont return to there place.

did u play the first mission of Generals?
the tanks was in formations(more so a line)
was that human programed 2 go there

they will stay in a line and move correctly if the video clip or game clips was progamed to do that.

Ihave to agree, the formations are cool looking, but it has its disadvantedges. I love the waypoints from redalert 2, is there a way to do it in generals. or put a patrol route?

well if u have alot of time and know some 1 else with the mod who also have alot of time u guys could play online
i am 2 lazy 2 move tanks 1by1 and park them beside each other

I've seen waypoints in CNC Generals Mod The Capallian Solution, but they haven't really been like a patrol route, because the units where simply going from one waypoint to the other and stoped at the final waypoint!

Well lets just put it liek this, waypoints and formations suck in genreals it would not work well on this engin because of the shit it does >.<

Formations just keeps you organized and for eye candy. Can walls be constructed like USA gets laser fence, GLA gets junk wall, & China gets stone fortress walls? The walls could be a long section & can be turned around before you build it, you know when you place the building? I saw it done, I thought it would be cool.

A more serious reply to walls...

I had intended to include walls. I had lots of cool plans for them and spent alot of time figuring tou the best way to do it. Even a poll showed the vast majority of players wanted them. But when it came down to it, they were a pain in the ass. the AI got stupid around them... and a slew of other bugs. In the end I abandoned the idea. I wept for days then started modding again :(

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

Pend, have you seen the walls in Zero Hour : Reborn 5(I think it was in 6 too!)?
Use the Rogue USA General, through the buildings available to the drone builder if I remember correctly.
Could that little robot hold the secrets of the walls?! :p

:p Seriously! They were very small from what I remember but that could be changed once someone learns how to make them. Remember I am completely ignorant about coding, modding etc but it doesn't hurt looking it up.

As much as i like walls i personly am 100% in faver of not having walls.

Walls in other CnC's and other RTS games was very fun and usful but the reason i am not in faver of walls in generals is simply as pend said they course way to meny problems the engin was not ment to use walls and so the ai is fubar with them, they would not even use them effectivly only randomly place them and other such problems.

If i want to build walls i will go back to ti sun/firestorme with the proper working walls and laser fences :p w00t that ruled.

There is not point looking at reborn lol it was soo buggy u have to rework the WHOLE thing lol.

IMO reborn 4 was teh best it had some minor bugs but it worked great number 5 and 6 seemed rushed in a way because there was so meny stupid bugs, Killed the mod imo.
