Still, since we've gotta have the Ring Hero's, Tom is an all around better RH than Galadriel because its not such a HUGE breech of realism

And to solve the good-side ring-hero problem, make it you're finding Nenya for Galadriel (sounds absurd because she probably never lets it out of her grasp, but just bear with me; I mean, you never know when a little gobbie might just steal from ya hehehe) and that some critter or another has it, make it you're looking for a wight that took a flower from the Old Forest (even more preposterous ) and keep Gollum as a seperate entity. Im not sure if having all three in every map or changing it so that only if the corresponding faction is played that the special one is as well means less coding either way, so it's up to you. Hell, I think my ideas suck and make no sense, but they're ideas I guess, so eh. Up to you

Actually, Im not even sure if adding to that system like that is even possible. So sorry if I wasted you're time :(

They're not bad, it's a just a little off of my coding skill chart
For Beta 4.7 we'll have:
Sauron as Ring Hero for Evil sides, and Tom Bombadil for Good.
For BEta 4.8, I'll primarily go for Saruman for Isen. Other than that, I don't know. I still want another system for Good sides that excludes them using the Ring, but rather destoying it somehow.

Edit: The whole ring hero doesn't make sense. Sauron is the only one who can completely use it, and it just doesn't work for balancing with the other ones.
To be realistic, Gondor's ring hero would probably be Denethor, but he would be so useless.

Because the ring didn't have any effect on him, it can't corrupt him..
It will however, corrupt any other wielder, so why not give it to the only one not affected by it's corrupting?
Of course, I wouldn't have made him as good as Sauron is when he's got the ring (atleast in the vanilla), but yeah..
Good enough, and any good enough hero is better to get than having to fight a tough one

Or, since you can summon an Elven and a MOTW horde, perhaps adding the KD Veterans from the dwarf faction as a four-unit summon would be a good replacement?

When Gollum is killed, you pick up the ring. This hero/unit (in order to make it seem as if the ring is weighing them down) becomes much slower on their way back to the fortress. When destroyed, all enemy units should get crippled in some way (like 25-50% less health, or less speed, or less armor or damage)
Then perhaps there could be a way to "re-forge" the ring as evil for like 20,000 resources (only after its been destoryed)
This might be hard to do, but I think it would be pretty cool. (Imagine your evil and siegeing a base and all of a sudden your units get massacred )

I think that making Tom more of a leadership, yet still extremely powerful, ring-hero would work in favour of good, as well as making him a lot more cheaper than Sauron, if you're planning on balancing the two against each-other properly I guess. Make Sauron cost one and a half times as much, or double if you prefer, up his strength and attack speed and give him some new abilities to truly olbiterate those that oppose him
Sauron is powerful enough as he is though I guess, but I still think EA could have done a much better job on him; I mean, he is the main villain in the movies and the books, and the games are based on those (even though BFME 2 and ROTWK are done more off the Silmarillion and notes).
Also..........Saruman for 4.8 sounds good; just make him stronger and make his abilities more powerful. That's all you really have to do for him hehe.
