you and i may know what that would mean, but not everyone will. we dont want to alienate people who only saw the movies for instance.

They spoke Elvish in the movies.. :p

Regardless. It's clearly of the Elven tongue and would really set them apart from all of the generic faction names.

However, it's not my call. I'll let Rob decide.

Tbh I don't think there is anyone who's got this mod and never played the vanilla version, and it's very, very unlikely that it will happen.

I just think 'Erebor' is well-suited to the Dwarves, not arguing fervently for Quendi, since, I still kind of agree with you Dalf.

And yes, I'll let Rob decide, though I hope he decides "yay" not "nay" to Erebor.

I think that to appeal to a wider audience perhaps dumbing down the lore would be a better approach, although everyone is familiar with certain aspects of the lore (most from the movies now), they are not as steeped in the lore as the average LOTR/Silmarillian reader which would be the main reason I would be against give locational or linguistic names, people would be lost - it could be also argued that this is just a teething matter because it is just text really but I think keeping it to recognizable names is just as good as confusing matters. But for reasons of continuity I can see why they would need to be.

yup, i feel the same - maybe its becouse i myslef readed all lotr books, but since i dont like em i forgot like 80% of the lore.
soo i think about myself as a normal " consument " rather than a pro in the terms of lore, and since there are many players who play LOTR and newer even read the books, maybe its really not good idea to use such terms and words, that were stated in the books ( lore ) but a normal player would understand (example: wtf is Quendy . . . - ingame - aaah elfs, omg coulndt they just namne them elfs ? ), if not, it might be more a drawback, than a plus for this mod
"Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world."
"From this seal shall arise the doom of men,"
"who, in their arrogance, sought to wield our fire as their own."
"Blindly they build their kingdoms upon stolen knowledge and conceit."
"Now they shall be consumed by the very flame they sought to control."
"Let the echoes of doom resound across this wretched world, that all who live may hear them and despair."

"Tremble, mortals, and despair! Doom has come to this world!"

Gee Myrdin, people here really love Tolkien's lore so you should respect it. That's all I'm saying  but I agree that it's probably better to keep Elves as Elves here. Still think Dwarves should be Erebor though.

Well, Myrdin wasn't really showing any signs of disrespect towards we who love the lore...

And about the issue at hand... Erebor and Elves would be best I reckon...

i wasnt offending anyone who s in love with professors work, soo youre kinda out of order here Fyro. Elves should propably stay Elves ( or make em Elfes, just for the fun  )

The Professor coined the terms Elves, Elvish , Dwarves, Dwarvish, Elven and Dwarven. Prior to which it was Elfs, Elfish, Dwarfs and Dwarfish. Mostly a replacement of the f's with v's. Dwarven and Elven had no equivalent prior to the Professor's coinage of the terms.

Just something partly relevant.

I was going to say we have Gandalv, instead of Gandalf, but I must be high for thinking that or something :p Which I ain't..
Gandalf it is... :p

Anyways, I really love that it's Dwarves and Elves, as Dwarfs and Elfs just look like hell when typing it...

So, you make a deliberate effort to make it more difficult for the rest of this board to comprehend what you say?

Let's get back on topic before this gets out of hand.

So about them little people in Middle-Earth... Anyone think that Gloin needs to be looked over for any improvements?
