why does everyone think axemen->building killers? imo axemen were perfect for chopping heads of your enemies bodies.

imo, axe cuts wood better than sword, and most buildings have wooden basics, ( of course not in real world, in real world metal replaced wood )

Actually, concrete did :)
And it probably would be a good move to give them a bonus against buildings - keeping them ever-so-slightly above the other infantry units.
Cheers,

HI there

I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out already (please let me know), but I was playing as Rohan against MotE yesterday in the RJ-revisited maps on medium difficulty (yes, I am still noobish :p) and MotE didn't build anything :) . They had NO army whatsoever. It seemed like their original 2 bats were destroyed by creeps, but the builders were just standing in the castle and I demolished it in seconds...

MotE has no ai as of yet...:)

Well, that comes as a bit of a revelation (well, tbh it's more of a a slap in the face :p). Next time, I'll know better than to play against a nobody hehe. So, is MotE playable as a faction?

For Variag-models, if the team decides to make them take on a more Japanese culture-look (which I disagree with), they must make them look much more original than the toys in the link. But I think that we should explore other cultures for a model-influence. I do understand that Tolkien's world kind of reflects Europe but just because it does doesn't mean that it reflects every aspect of Eurasia. For me, this means that we could use a South American influence (for example) on the Easterlings, etc. For determining what kind of a culture that we should use as an inspiration for a Khand unit (assuming that they're getting in) I think that we should look at the geography of Khand.

By this, I mean that we should determine (for example) whether or not Khand is a swampy area between Mordor and Harad. I think that once we find what kind of a place that Khand is, we should look at cultures (in our world) that live in very similar environments and take an influence from that.

I do like the idea of having the banner attached to the soldier/banner carrier, by the way.

Regarding the Khandian axes/bowmen on horseback; I honestly don't think that it makes a difference. I would let the team decide on this but I only lean towards the axemen because if the Chariots are getting unit upgrades (swordsmen, banners, bowman, spearmen), then the Variags of Khand can 'fill the void' by providing a building-destroying calvary unit.

I think that the whole 'axemen being strong against buildings' was a gameplay choice.

I just thought of this, what if the Variags of Khand could have a firebomb ability like the Corsairs? They could switch from sword/bow to firebombs. This would be comepletely different from any other calvary unit plus it would make the Variags of Khand seem less "cookie-cutterish" from a Rohirrim unit..

Khand as Turkey? Intresting

Gondor as Rome, well I can get by with that, I wonder what Mordor is.

I wish they put the shire where the Britain-look-alike was.

mordor is nothing for their are pure fantasy, just a rabble of units unitedy by strong leader,

maybe like Avar piligers in the time of Great Morava ( i hope i transated this good ),

but i like the idea of Khand using Turkei theme

Isn't Rhun the more Turkish/persian themed faction, with a more exocit armour design?

Was this really intended on the map above? :)

I mean, it doesn't take an expert to figure out that that's UK??

Also, there is no way in Middle-Earth that the Shire is adjacent to Edoras and Helms Deep almost. This map is very twisted at best.

actually i just think this is kinda of an test to fit the middle earth realm in europe instead of a real map thought of by Tolkien. I know the similarities are there but in the books there IS a map wich is agreed by Tolkien. And it just doesnt look that way..

Oh, I didn't notice the continential lines within the map. :p

Same... :p

Anyhoo, I was playing as MotE today on RJ-revisited on hard difficulty, and the enemy AI Arnor used rush tactics but my archers wouldn't fire back. When their soldiers closed in then my archers would start swatting like they do...but they wouldn't fire any arrows, so they weren't able to fend off the attack. Because of that they were able to send more soldiers and as I was creating mine weren't enough and cos of that I almost lost the damned game..
