That makes another problem, axes (the ones that me and AA are thinking of) are double handed, and knives are single handed. I think the best option right now would make it so they use a double handed axe or staff (for more defense), and can toggle to a single handed long knife (for more attack).

hmm, i dont recall seeing them do much other than stab at enemies but id like to hear if anyone else is sure about their current anims? and while it may hurt to get jabbed in the stomach, it wont kill you :p

A sling/sword or sling/knife would be lovely if u can get the animations for slingers.

Afaik, the pitchforks only stab at people and I don't think a lot of people would particularly notice or care about the anims if they see people jabbing with scythes or whatever so i dont think it would hurt to add those weapons.

Short swords i think would be best with a bow or crossbow that would be cool.

Arn't crossbows a bit advanced for Hobs? I bet they would use regular bows though, but use them like long bows since a bow is just about the size of a hob, so they would be shooting like Thondorin (Or however you spell his name...)

Lol, crossbows for Hobbits :p

I would like bows more, since it's in the lore and it looks cooler. But we are talking about the Shirrifs here, not some completely new and different unit. Let's just keep it Hobbit "Whatevers" (with various long farm tools) and Hobbit Shirrifs (with axes, and a toggle to long knife), unless you really want a new Hobbit Archer unit.

the hobbit shirrifs lose half of their purpose and what makes them unique if you take out their ranged toggle. thats why they need bows or something similar.
the toggle between melee weapons would be more of an animation thing than and actual toggle imo.

HOBBITS BARELY KNOW HOW TO HOLD A WEAPON........

i mean u saw aragorn and his stuff, he was teaching them.....if they had crossows that would be a miracle....

I also wanna point out that i think RJROTWK need to have the LORIAN ELVES on the Elven team....i like that type of elf, and ther is none on the team.... and what about the noldor warriors on the elven alliance with the Arnor People? shouldnt they have Noldor Warriors?

The Elven team does have Lorien Elves :p

The Noldors aren't with Arnor because they're already with the Elves as Rivendell's MHH and Arnor already has 5 Elf units and I don't think it needs anymore, especially when Noldors are already with a faction.

To Dalf32: So they can have a double handed staff or axe when charging or whatever, and then pull out a knife when the fighting gets tough? I never knew that was possible :p

the-king112: To You know we are talking about the Hobbits for Arnor right, and the Hobbits can definitely hold a weapon, over 100 of them did on at least two occasions (once even in the books.)

I think that Lorien does get a Helm's Deep Elven Warrior like unit, I'll have to check the update again.

if by lorien getting an archer/sword toggle unit i dont htink they will (they dont have one now).

umm actually i dont believe (with this game) there is anyway to have the animation 'know' when the fighting is getting tough. it would be more like how gandalf uses his sword with some attacks and his staff with others.

They've got the Galadhrim.

As for the Hobbits...stop all this nonsense of crossbows and staffs as weapons.

The crossbows were just a silly joke, nothing serious was meant by it (I hope so at least :crazed:), and what do you mean by "nonsense of staffs as weapons", didn't we already discuss this :p

I can't picture a Hobbit using a double handed weapon (especially if it's an axe) with one hand and a long knife in the other, let alone twirling around like Gandalf does.

You can't possibly hope to think that a short wooden staff would be more effective than an axe or knife in combat, right? :p

I was thinking a one handed ax. Like a tomahawk.

i was also thinking of a one-handed axe. and i wasnt implying that we use gandalf's animations, i was just using that as an example for how they would use the two weapons.

I was thinking along the same lines. One hand blocks and bashes with the staff and the other hacks with an ax.

It's kind of hard to use a staff one handed, and a Hobbit armed with a knife and a axe just seems kinda weird. What if we added an Archer unit (yes I'm bringing this up again), but gave it a knife/one handed axe toggle? That means we could do anything we want to with the Shirrif, like give them a double handed axe/staff with a toggle that allies them to hold their double handed weapon (whether it's staff or axe) one handed with a knife :p

because the whole purpose of the shirrif unit is to have a toggle to a ranged weapon.
