I'm gonna start a new job next month, so I hope I have time to finish 4.7 until then (sept)... Hard to say, but I'm working on it every day basically *addicted* :)

Yeah MT will be the ultimate fortress map for Men faction, much like Dol Goldur for Mordor, and Erebor for Dwarves... and so on.

Erebor isn't that hard to take over.it depends on whether you use the right strategy, here is mine, and it always works:
build MANY ax/arrow towers at the entrances, and your good to go.
then, when the enemy attacked and lost all his troops, you can counterattack and take over dale and then attack the enemy fortress.(but keep making more units to come and support, for i guarantee you will lose some guys.)

I really hope this mod comes back. It was my favorite of mods, and the only reason I was playing BFME2 again. After it...stopped, I moved on to other games. But, if it comes back, that would be great! :p

The Valar had to nerf Dwarves, or we would of taken over the world before it even began... :D

Lovely stuff, sorry to bump but what I'd like to see is one which is movie (and tolkien for that matter) correct - in that it has 7 levels.

Nice already though.

The 7 levels is too hard to accomplish unfortionately. But other than that, we're pretty close to the movies now :evgr:

I understand the difficulty, and actually I think it would be unfair to ask it of this mod with everything else going on; but it is possible and someone should have a go methinks - though I can't judge anyone negatively since I'm a coder and no mapper!

A mapper won't do it either... It takes a modeler with enormous patience, and a coder of much higher level than me.

Indeed.

It's a matter of complicated heights, and walls. Not coding if you're not putting anything special in, or modelling unless you need new walls/props.

You could use the same walls at different scales, couldn't you?

Whilst it is possible to make 7 levels with the wall pieces, there are a couple of problems:

1. the big rock jut thing won't fit, it's too small and has only 2 gates in it. It would have to be remodelled.

2. It would be bloody huge. Especially if each level is big enough to build things on. The first level would practically fill the map and have room for 40 buildings or so. Ok, I guess the idea is for it to be huge, but I think after a certain stage it becomes a hindrance.

3. Number of objects + laaaggggg.... especially once the armies build up in number.

Currently we have a modeler who is very good at buildings, Im considering attempting this but no promises, Im going through and trying to get 7 levels without the rock in the middle. If its turn out the way I hope it does, I will ask the modeler to make a new mountain piece but not until Im certain I can have 7 levels without it looking like crap. In the end the map will still need complex coding for the scaled objects, as well as a new object/ objects for the mountain, I hardly think its fair to go through all this work for just one map, but it is the one thing in my opinion no mod or one person has every achieved (without flaws) with this city before.

I also noticed that EA's map is kinda flat compared to in the movie. the levels are wider and farther apart. It the movie it was taller and thinner.

Yes I have noticed that, part of it is due to the height of the walls for the city, EA made theres kinda short. So far Ive managed to build 5 levels and have acces to all of them, granted this is without a new mountain piece. Im unsure exactly how I want to do the sixth and 7th levels. I work it out eventually. or we will just have to use the original version i made.
