There's is one issue though... the BSE (Base) for the AI was VERY hard to setup in a good way as it's VERY crowded. The combined Men faction is without a doubt the largest one at the moment, and space wise they'd benefit from a split. Rohan is somewhat short on structures (unless I could use the Rohan Barracks in RJ), and the Golden Hall would need expansions. Walls would be needed and yet another spell boook, and so on... But I'm not against the idea at all (nowadays). It's merely the work load and the lack of help.

I also like the idea of being able to charge with them side by side, but you could still play co-op
We'll see what happens, but it's no longer a non possibility for later though as Rohan has grown immensly

I also like the idea of Rohan as a separate faction. But what about Rohan siege machines then? I would go for ents, as the fought together in Helm's Deep (kind of) and the never fought with an Elven army since they help Berem to avenge the death of Thingol...

Well I started to look at coding tutorials, specifically how to add a new faction.

Okay, no one else here is outraged (outraged? I don't know if I'd go that far, maybe I'm "annoyed", but it's just not as dramatic, so...), so it's gonna have to be me. If you split up MotW, then you have to split MotE. End of Story. What makes Men so much different from the other good factions is their balance of archers and soldiers. Where as Elves are the best archers and Dwarves are the best melee soldiers, MotW (and MotE, maybe, I don't know, haven't played them yet) are just average, but it's their diversity of units that make up for their "average"-ness. Because Rohan's infantry sucks, you use gondors infantry to give you a better edge in battle. And because Gondor's knights aren't all that up to par, you use Rohan's Rhohirrim to make up for it. If there is a split, it will totally ruin what S.E.E. has created. I simply love the ability to use all of Men in one faction. I do not want a split. I'm sorry I have to say this, but as much as I like RobN'Karla and what he has done, I do NOT want Nazgul presents: RJ-Special Extended Edition

Hehe yeah, we all have different views and preferences =)
Nothing is decided yet though, and this is highly unlikely to happen at all. If ever, it won't be soon. So just relax. Beta 4.7 will be as planned and nothing of this sort will happen any time soon

I said all that earlier and everyone fussed at me

But yeah I'm with Zach on this, in the movie MOTE and MOTW fought as ONE faction each - not as two or four. It'd be wrong to split 'em up

No it wouldn't. Gondor could have The Dol Amorth knights to "replace" the need for the Rohhirrim. This is how i would se it fitting into the greater scheme of things.
Gondor- Good/average at everything and could have the Dunedain(rangers)-wooppee!
Rohan-Fast units and huorns.
Dwarves-Strongest melee
Elves-Best archers and sneaky in woods
Evil dudes don't know or care.

Yeah, except there's still the problem of Gondor having weak cavalry (on top of all their other weaknesses) and Rohan having no siege weapons  MOTW are meant to work together just like the MOTE. They'd all be missing a crucial part of the faction if they were split

The knights are pretty stong. They should have heavier armor than Rohirrim but be slower and not as strong. Knights of Dol Amroth, however, should be even heavier and slower, but stronger than standard knights.
Greetings, community.

I do, from my experience of playing with the Gondor Knights, they are weak when compared to the Wargs and the Rohirrim

Together the MOTW make a balanced faction - neither too strong or too weak - breaking them up off-sets their abilities and I enjoy them as the balanced good-guys. Not too strong as with the Dwarves but not too hero oriented as with the elves.

After I've done a lot of playtesting in the past weeks for things to do and finish for Beta 4.7, I really noticed the overwhelming size of the Men faction... Gondor & Rohan together makes a HUGE and crowded faction in both buildings and units and I'm actually leaning more and more towards a future split - even if that would mean yet ANOTHER huge work load for me and the Team... :cool2:

We would need to add:
- Walls with Upgrades such as Gate, Towers and Hubs
- Fortress with Expansions and Upgrades
- Barracks for infantry
- Infantry units such as swordsmen and/or spearmen
- Siege units
- New spellbook
etc

We'd also need to rework the Gondor Markets into resource buildings and change the Gondor AI base, as well as make new one for Rohan, etc...

A lot of work, but... I feel more and more that it has to go that way eventually
For some input on this matter, I've crated a POLL in post #1 :thumbsupsmiley:

You're right that MOTW is getting a bit too crowded and that Rohan deserves it's own faction, but I'm not sure if it's worth the workload. I mean, there's still a ton of things to finish like the new ring heroes, spellbook powers, hero powers, FX fixes, new units, revised hero system, the campaign... Things we've been planning for quite a long time. I'm all for it, but maybe for Beta 6.0 =).

Yeah I know... First of all I'd need to o.k. this with Sûl, as I'd like to have him on board for this (too). If not, maybe Rad could do it. But regardless, if we do it, it has to wait for Beta 4.8 or 4.9 for sure
