Especially enjoy the dead Baldor!
I still want to change him, but special modding like that I will leave till last. I have however, drawn up some Army of the Dead power icons for RJ-Cam. [Just in case anyone was going to create a Dead Men of Dunharrow faction, but it might be possible to do some coding once I find out how the textures are attached.]

Well I have figured out how to add my own textures using the Map ini.
Just as simple as replace module in the ini.
And add the textures in the right places in a mod and recreate the asset.

Which means that I want to make a Minas Ithil faction just for my Minas Morgul Map.

The faction will just be a re-skin of the SEE Gondor faction, but I like the possibility of changing textures specifically for maps.

Great stuff MTL, I think city of the dead is my favorite. Great minds think alike when it comes to the walls of moria, I've got the same map in the works. Though mine doesn't include any interior of moria. Would you be interested in joining the team as a mapper? Some of your stuff is definitely high quality and a few of the other maps could make interesting maps with some tweaking. Especially your moria map if it was entirely inside moria and a crazy laberynth of passages going up and down and around chasms.

One of my biggest visions for a future campaign for SEE is to have one map outside Moria and one map crossing Moria, using all those beautiful cinematic assets to really capture the claustrofobic feeling of Moria. Preferably also the highlight - the Bride of Khaz-dûm where we hopefully could try and fake a bottomless abyss using shades of black and black smoke etc. Imagine crossing the bridge and having a script that spawns the balrog right behind you :crazed:

Moria is more fitting for campaign than for skrimish as I really cant imagine building a base inside moria

Ha ha ha! That totally reminds me of another map I had. The Mines of Moria (Campaign map), converted into a base-building fully functioning Skirmish map (I got the idea after attempting the glitchy RJ-mod War of the Ring mode). But only one base is build-able and I do not have many ideas how feasible the other side will be to make.

Mines of Moria
Spoiler

Check out the land to build-up a base in the background. Also, I can't get rid of the light.

And I would love to join the mapping team. Although all I have is this year (which is why I am trying make as many maps as possible).

P.S. I am looking for some awesome ideas for the Moria gates that look out to the eastern side, out into the Dimrill Dale. After the bridge of Kazad-dum I have a simple hall and a large blank section for the main gate. Thanks so much!

NJM is in charge of mapping, so I'll leave any recruitment of mappers to him =) Can't see something that looks like that bridge in that image, but it sure does look cool though with them cinematic/campaign parts featuring that wire supported bridge :shiftee2:

Excellent news maps ! Minas Morgul counter the huge Minas Tirith map now ! :p

@Elessar the High
My plan exactly!

Well, I am building on the original campaign map.

Any better ideas for the gate. I am open to suggestions.

Well looks as though you have some interesting thoughts about how to do maps. :ninja: Ive always wanted to see something using those pieces but arranged really differently, on a large scale map something for 6 players to go wandering through. Rather than use moria like a fortress or have it be a linear crawl map (bfme campaign) have players start in various locations and have to wander through the dark passages and cross bridges to get to the enemy bases. One thing with SEE is the realism. unfortunately its unrealistic that all of moria would be encompassed on 1 map. It makes more sense to have these locations:

Walls of Moria - area around and leading to Durins gate (western entrance)
Mines of Moria - the actual mines with many chasms and passages
Great Hall of Moria - the chamber with the many columns and the room that became the tomb of balin
Bridge of Khazad-dum - the area at the base of the stairs with a bridge leading up and to the eastern Hall and the eastern gate. no actual exit though.

Anyway Im not telling you what you should do :tongevil: just that for maps we will be accepting for use in the mod, they will have to meet certain criteria - which Ill PM you about :good:

By all means though... Keep showing us your work, I know I love to see what other mappers come up with, plus it helps me generate new ideas :thumbsupsmiley:

I am working hard to get City of the Dead (As NJM suggested and he has also given me stacks of help pointing out what I need to work on.)
Nargothrond is out as well, as v0.8.

Is that Minas Morgul or Minas Ithil (the map)?

When Minas Ithil turned into Morgul the tree was BURNED... keep that in mind.

Point there...
:tongevil:
Ha ha, this is a magical illusion. They are just statues inhabited by evil spirits. I thought it would be cool to have a mockery of the White Tree in Minas Morgul.

P.S. I know Nertea made the original skin, with who I am incredibly indebted to but I am guessing the model is different too? Who made it if so?

That's a cool idea, but according to Tolkien Sauron burnt the White Tree of Minas Ithil. I think you can keep it but in darker colors, as if the flames couldn't reduce it to ashes.

Very nice work here!

@Arthadan - I am thinking of setting the tree alight.City of the Dead's terrain texture has been reworked, with the help of a cave explorer (who emphasised mud). It will be in SEE! I am so excited! My next project is reworking the RotWK maps. Above is what I considered a finished Barrow Downs, but I have increased the detail around the barrows (The map is basically a merge between Campaign, Cinematic, and Skirmish WotR.), and I have increased the scale of the foliage to ~2.0 . Also there is the Skirmish Gundabad map, now renamed Grey Mountains and now 3 player with a fast moving glacier to replace player 4. And I have mucked around with the colours of Paths of the Dead, to match City of the Dead. I am considering renaming Paths of the Dead to Paths of Erech??? Also there is an idea floating around of doing a real Gundabad map using the unused Campaign Gundabad. I would fill in the arena-like space and make it Gundabad, possibly flip the entire map as well. This is a good idea for the Gundabad entrance with a glacier, it looks LotRO or a BFMEII artwork. From LotR wikia. LotR Wikia.
